We present a procedure for the determination of the isotopic ratios of silicon and oxygen from the same aliquot of anhydrous silicate material. The sample is placed in a bromine pentafluoride atmosphere as it is heated with a CO2 laser system releasing silicon tetrafluoride and oxygen gasses. The oxygen gas is then purified to remove other reaction by‐products through several liquid nitrogen traps before being captured onto a molecular sieve and transferred to an isotope ratio mass spectrometer. The silicon tetrafluoride gas is then purified using a supplementary line by repeatedly freezing to ?196°C with liquid nitrogen and then thawing with an ethanol slurry at ?110°C through a series of metal and Pyrex traps. The purified gas is then condensed into a Pyrex sample tube before it is transferred to an isotope ratio mass spectrometer for silicon isotope ratio measurements. This system has silicon yields of greater than 90% for pure quartz, olivine, and garnet standards and has a reproducibility of ±0.1‰ (2σ) for pure quartz for both oxygen and silicon isotope measurements. Meteoritic samples were also successfully analyzed to demonstrate this system's ability to measure the isotopic ratio composition of bulk powders with precision. This unique technique allows for the fluorination of planetary material without the need for wet chemistry. Though designed to analyze small aliquots of meteoritic material (1.5 to 3 mg), this approach can also be used to investigate refractory terrestrial samples where traditional fluorination is not suitable.  相似文献

The multilayer formation of two different sulfonated polyanilines with cytochrome c is presented and mechanistic aspects of the contributions of the polyelectrolytes' properties to the characteristics of the assemblies are discussed. These two modified polymers, PASA1 and PASA2 are chemically synthesized and differ in the grade of sulfonation, substitution, and the chain length of the polymer. The influence of these properties on the multilayer assembly with cytochrome c is studied in detail by Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) technique and Cyclic Voltammetry (CV). It is shown that the multilayer formation is successful, however, the redox activity of polyanilines itself has to be taken into account. In the case of a strong redox activity (PASA2) voltammetric analysis allows the separation of redox processes addressed to the polyelectrolyte and cyt c. For multilayers with PASA1 as building block electroactivity can be predominantly attributed to cyt c ensuring a high amount of electroactive protein and a low probability for interfering redox reaction, making this system suitable for biosensor applications.  相似文献

Through detailed experimental studies of the angular dependence of spin wave excitations in nanocontact-based spin-torque oscillators, we demonstrate that two distinct spin wave modes can be excited, with different frequency, threshold currents, and frequency tunability. Using analytical theory and micromagnetic simulations we identify one mode as an exchange-dominated propagating spin wave, and the other as a self-localized nonlinear spin wave bullet. Wavelet-based analysis of the simulations indicates that the apparent simultaneous excitation of both modes results from rapid mode hopping induced by the Oersted field.  相似文献

We continue the study of glider representations of finite groups G with given structure chain of subgroups e ? G 1 ?… ? G d = G. We give a characterization of irreducible gliders of essential length ed which in the case of p-groups allows to prove some results about classical representation theory. The paper also contains an introduction to generalized character theory for glider representations and an extension of the decomposition groups in the Clifford theory. Furthermore, we study irreducible glider representations for products of groups and nilpotent groups.  相似文献

Integer programming models for clustering have applications in diverse fields addressing many problems such as market segmentation and location of facilities. Integer programming models are flexible in expressing objectives subject to some special constraints of the clustering problem. They are also important for guiding clustering algorithms that are capable of handling high-dimensional data. Here, we present a novel mixed integer linear programming model especially for clustering relational networks, which have important applications in social sciences and bioinformatics. Our model is applied to several social network data sets to demonstrate its ability to detect natural network structures.  相似文献

This paper presents a hybrid metaheuristic approach (HMA) for solving the unconstrained binary quadratic programming (UBQP) problem. By incorporating a tabu search procedure into the framework of evolutionary algorithms, the proposed approach exhibits several distinguishing features, including a diversification-based combination operator and a distance-and-quality based replacement criterion for pool updating. The proposed algorithm is able to easily obtain the best known solutions for 31 large random instances up to 7000 variables (which no previous algorithm has done) and find new best solutions for three of nine instances derived from the set-partitioning problem, demonstrating the efficacy of our proposed algorithm in terms of both solution quality and computational efficiency. Furthermore, some key elements and properties of the HMA algorithm are also analyzed.  相似文献

The first observation that PBBTPD, a low bandgap, ambipolar conjugated donor-acceptor (DA) polymer based on benzobisthiadiazole (BBT), possesses an open-shell singlet ground state as well as a thermally accessible triplet state is described. Similarly, interesting electronic behavior in semiconducting organic DA oligomers based on BBT is also observed. Theoretical predictions have suggested that such behavior is due to the biradicaloid character of BBT and we provide experimental evidence indicating that these predictions are correct. Furthermore, the open shell character strengthens as the conjugation length increases, as observed in the BBT-based polymer, PBBTPD. We show that this biradicaloid structure is observed in each BBT moiety along the chain and that therefore PBBTPD is in fact a polyradicaloid. This observation will most likely aid in the development of better n-type polymeric acceptors for organic semiconductor applications. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Dynamic simulations of the isotropic–nematic phase transformation of liquid crystal droplets with homeotropic surface anchoring are found to predict chiral symmetry-breaking dynamics. These observations occur when using material parameters for pentyl-cyanobiphenyl (5CB) but not with the single elastic constant approximation for this material, which is frequently used in simulations. The twisting dynamic process occurs during the relaxation of the domain from an unstable radial texture to a stable uniform texture and involves simultaneous defect loop motion and twisting of the bulk nematic texture.  相似文献
