This report describes an efficient synthesis of the natural isomer of acivicin, which is the only one provided with a noteworthy biological activity. The present procedure allowed the synthesis of (+)-1 in just five steps with a 34% overall yield. Due to the easy separation of the two diastereomers and to the availability of the starting material at low cost, the present procedure can be scaled-up to gram quantities.  相似文献

Photoinduced charge separation in donor–acceptor conjugates plays a pivotal role in technology breakthroughs, especially in the areas of efficient conversion of solar energy into electrical energy and fuels. Extending the lifetime of the charge separated species is a necessity for their practical utilization, and this is often achieved by following the mechanism of natural photosynthesis where the process of electron/hole migration occurs distantly separating the radical ion pairs. Here, we hypothesize and demonstrate a new mechanism to stabilize the charge separated states via the process of electron exchange among the different acceptor entities in multimodular donor–acceptor conjugates. For this, star-shaped, central triphenylamine derived, dimethylamine–tetracyanobutadiene conjugates have been newly designed and characterized. Electron exchange was witnessed upon electroreduction in conjugates having multiple numbers of electron acceptors. Using ultrafast spectroscopy, the occurrence of excited state charge separation, and the effect of electron exchange in prolonging the lifetime of charge separated states in the conjugates having multiple acceptors have been successfully demonstrated. This work constitutes the first example of stabilizing charge-separated states via the process of electron exchange.

Two approximation algorithms are presented for minimizing the makespan of independant tasks assigned on unrelated machines. The first one is based upon a partial and heuristical exploration of a search tree, which is used not only to build a solution but also to improve it thanks to a post-optimization procedure. The second implements a new large neighborhood improvement procedure to an already existing algorithm. Computational experiments show that their efficiency is equivalent to the best local search heuristics.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the analysis of a numerical scheme for the coagulation and fragmentation equation. A time explicit finite volume scheme is developed, based on a conservative formulation of the equation. It is shown to converge under a stability condition on the time step, while a first order rate of convergence is established and an explicit error estimate is given. Finally, several numerical simulations are performed to investigate the gelation phenomenon and the long time behavior of the solution.

The multimodal differential scanning calorimetry melting endotherms observed for commercial linear low‐density polyethylenes are due to broad and multimodal short‐chain‐branching distributions. Multiple peaks, observed in melting endotherms of isothermally melt‐crystallized and compositionally homogeneous polyethylene copolymers are due to intrachain heterogeneity. This intrachain heterogeneity is quantified by the distribution of ethylene sequence lengths within the chains. These compositionally homogeneous copolymers undergo a primary crystallization, which produces a population of thicker lamellae, creating a network that places severe restrictions on segment transport in subsequent secondary crystallization, which produces a population of thinner crystals. The restrictions on segment transport imposed by the initial network created by the primary crystallization of thicker lamellae severely limits the total crystallinity achieved in the random copolymers studied. The solution crystallization of such copolymers produces a continuous distribution due to more facile segment transport in a dilute solution, in contradistinction to the multimodal distribution produced in the melt crystallization. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. An order four automorphism of a Lie algebra gives rise to an integrable system introduced by Terng. We show that solutions of this system may be identified with certain vertically harmonic twistor lifts of conformal maps of surfaces in a Riemannian symmetric space. As applications, we find that surfaces with holomorphic mean curvature in 4-dimensional real or complex space forms constitute an integrable system as do Hamiltonian stationary Lagrangian surfaces in 4-dimensional Hermitian symmetric spaces (this last providing a conceptual explanation of a result of Hélein-Romon).  相似文献
