Indium surface segregation in InGaAs-based structures prepared by molecular beam epitaxy and atomic layer molecular beam epitaxy

We present a comparative study on In surface segregation in InGaAs/GaAs structures prepared by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and atomic layer MBE (ALMBE) at different growth temperatures. The effect of segregation is evaluated by the energy position of exciton transitions in pseudomorphic 10 ML thick In_xGa_1−xAs/GaAs (0.15≤x≤0.30) and in 1 ML thick InAs/GaAs quantum wells. We show that: (i) In segregation decreases with the growth temperatures and is minimized at ALMBE and MBE growth temperatures lower than 260 and 340°C, respectively, and (ii) the segregation is more effective in ALMBE structures than in the MBE counterparts. The growth conditions that have been singled out allow the preparation of structures with high photoluminescence efficiencies even at the low growth temperatures required to minimize In segregation.     

Curvature Diffusions in General Relativity

We define and study on Lorentz manifolds a family of covariant diffusions in which the quadratic variation is locally determined by the curvature. This allows the interpretation of the diffusion effect on a particle by its interaction with the ambient space-time. We will focus on the case of warped products, especially Robertson-Walker manifolds, and analyse their asymptotic behaviour in the case of Einstein-de Sitter-like manifolds.

Compatibility of paroxetine hydrochloride and GW597599B

In this study, we present a full thermal characterization of antidepressant paroxetine and summarize the results for another drug which treats depression: GW597599B. The main aim is to analyze how the thermodynamic and structural properties of these compounds are modified when the two drugs are mixed in the solid state. We begin by putting into evidence how dehydration and melting concur in shaping the calorimetric curves of paroxetine under different experimental conditions. Equipped with this knowledge, we are able to interpret the thermal response of the physical mixtures paroxetine:GW597599B, in terms of partial eutectic formation and simple superposition of contribution from the two compounds.
