A new technique, that allows simultaneous time-resolved synchrotron X-ray diffraction as a function of temperature (XRDT) and high sensitivity DSC to be carried out in the same apparatus, has been developed. Microcalorimetry and XRDT scans can be performed at any rate between 0.01 and 10°C min?1 with a 0.01°C temperature resolution in the temperature range, 30–130°C and at lower cooling rates but the same heating rates in the ?30–+30°C range. The use of a single and very small sample (1 to 20 μl) contained in a thin glass capillary for both measurements and simultaneous data collection prevents any temperature shift between recordings and any possible difference in the thermal histories of the samples. 相似文献

Summary A measure of the amount of uncertainty (entropy) associated with a (discrete) randomn-vector should take into account all kinds of information that is provided. In particular, it should depend both on the range and on the probability distribution of the random vector. In this paper we give acharacterization of those entropies which are expansible, additive, subadditive, partially symmetric and fulfil the said requirement. In the last part of the paper, we discuss the unexpected full symmetry of the mathematical representation of these entropies, as derived. In recent years the increasing use of platinum (Pt) both in medical and in industrial applications has caused its growing anthropogenic emission and spread in the environment. Pt is released into the atmosphere by exhaust catalytic converters, and Pt compounds are often used in antitumour therapies. As a consequence, significant amounts of Pt can be detected in hospital wastewaters. This can lead to an increase in the exposure levels to Pt, especially in urban areas. It is therefore necessary to determine Pt reference values in the general population, by using suitable procedures able to achieve adequate analytical performances. Several measurements of Pt in biological fluids have been reported, but the analytical methods used for the determination of Pt often lack information about the uncertainty of the results, especially for low concentrations of urinary Pt in non-occupationally exposed subjects. The present paper considers the measurement of urinary Pt levels in a general population group from central Italy, by both quadrupole (Q) and sector field (SF) inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The two procedures were validated and their expanded uncertainties were evaluated. The limits of detection (LODs), calculated taking into account dilution factors, were 0.18 and 0.05 ng L(-1) of Pt for the Q and SF procedures, respectively. The median value observed was 4.13 ng L(-1) of Pt in urine, while the relative combined uncertainty at 5 ng L(-1) was below 20% with both ICP-MS techniques. In this work a tachyonization of the ΛCDM model for a spatially flat Friedmann–Robertson–Walker space–time is proposed. A
tachyon field and a cosmological constant are considered as the sources of the gravitational field. Starting from a stability
analysis and from the exact solutions for a standard tachyon field driven by a given potential, the search for a large set
of cosmological models which contain the ΛCDM model is investigated. By the use of internal transformations two new kinds
of tachyon fields are derived from the standard tachyon field, namely, a complementary and a phantom tachyon fields. Numerical
solutions for the three kinds of tachyon fields are determined and it is shown that the standard and complementary tachyon
fields reproduces the ΛCDM model as a limiting case. The standard tachyon field can also describe a transition from an accelerated
to a decelerated regime, behaving as an inflationary field at early times and as a matter field at late times. The complementary
tachyon field always behaves as a matter field. The phantom tachyon field is characterized by a rapid expansion where its

Maleimide chemistry is widely used in the site-selective modification of proteins. However, hydrolysis of the resultant thiosuccinimides is required to provide robust stability to the bioconjugates. Herein, we present an alternative approach that affords simultaneous stabilisation and dual functionalisation in a one pot fashion. By consecutive conjugation of a thiol and an amine to dibromomaleimides, we show that aminothiomaleimides can be generated extremely efficiently. Furthermore, the amine serves to deactivate the electrophilicity of the maleimide, precluding further reactivity and hence generating stable conjugates. We have applied this conjugation strategy to peptides and proteins to generate stabilised trifunctional conjugates. We propose that this stabilisation-dual modification strategy could have widespread use in the generation of diverse conjugates.An alternative approach to maleimide conjugate stabilisation is presented, by the consecutive addition of a thiol and an amine to dibromomaleimides. Rats fed a diet deficient in vitamin D were found to exhibit a refractory cyclic AMP response of kidney slices to parathyroid hormone and a marked decrease in membrane parathyroid hormone-dependent adenylate cyclase activity. Both the characteristic calcium deficiency (hypocalcemia) and secondary elevation of circulating parathyroid hormone appeared before the first noticeable decrease in hormone-dependent enzyme activity. After repletion of D-deficient rats with vitamin D2, we found that serum calcium and parathyroid hormone were both restored to normal levels before the depressed enzyme response to the hormone was reversed. Moreover, infusion of parthyroid hormone into vitamin D-replete rats led to a marked reduction in parathyroid hormone-dependent adenylate cyclase activity, which was partly restored to control level 3 hours after discontinuing the hormone infusion. Taken as a whole, this study suggests that the elevated endogenous parathyroid hormone in the vitamin D-deficient rat is involved in the "down-regulation" of renal cyclic AMP responsiveness to the hormone. However, these experiments do not rule out the possibility that calcium deficiency and/or vitamin D per se participate in the regulation of the renal cyclic AMP response to parathyroid hormone. 相似文献
