Fixed point of multivalued mapping in uniform spaces

In this paper we prove some new fixed point theorems for multivalued mappings on orbitally complete uniform spaces.     

Noncollinear orientation of external magnetic field and flux lines penetrating an isotropic hard superconductor

Penetration by Abrikosov flux lines of an isotropic hard superconductor in the critical state induced by changes in the orientation of external magnetic field has been theoretically investigated. The analysis has been based on the microscopic nonlocal model taking into account forces of bulk and surface pinning, alongside magnetic forces of interaction of the row of penetrating vortices with existing flux lines, Meissner currents, and vortex images. New vortices penetrate a superconductor only when the angle through which the field is rotated is larger than a certain critical value. It has been determined that the alignment of entering vortices is essentially different from that of the applied magnetic field. The feasibility of detecting noncollinearity effects is discussed. Catalytic properties of oligonuclear cobalt acetate complexes in oxidation of glutathione with hydrogen peroxide

Catalytic activity of oligonuclear cobalt(III) and cobalt(II, III) oxoacetate complexes in homogeneous oxidation of glutathione with hydrogen peroxide was studied.     

THYMINE HYDRATE FORMED BY ULTRAVIOLET AND GAMMA IRRADIATION OF AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

Abstract— Evidence is presented for the formation of a thymine hydrate upon ultraviolet (UV) or gamma irradiation of aqueous solutions. The UV quantum efficiency exhibits a dependence on pH similar to that shown for uracil hydration, but the yield is three orders of magnitude smaller than for uracil. Hydration is not affected by wavelength, oxygen, or concentration of thymine. The reversal rate of the photohydrate to thymine is similar to the reversal rates of both isomers of the thymine hydrate formed by γ radiolysis, and depends on pH in the same way as the rate for the uracil photohydrate. The photohydrate of thymine is chromatographically identical to the cis isomer of 6-hydroxy-5, 6-dihydrothymine.     

Observations of excited-state absorption in ED-2 neodymium: Glass

By heating a sample of neodymium-doped ED-2 glass, we have achieved a thermal population of the ${}^4\text{I}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>11</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ level sufficient to observe the excited-state absorption spectrum. Features were seen at 1.06 μm and at 6000 Å.     

X-ray minification systems--an international commodity.

Crowded hospital X-ray file rooms and the increasing economic value of silver have contributed to the need to substitute microfilm for original X-rays. X-ray minification, already successful in the United States, will be increasing worldwide as governments begin to understand the art of X-ray microfilming and as economic pressures force the decline of hospital X-ray holdings.
