Ionic liquids (ILs) have emerged as active pharmaceutical ingredients because of their excellent antibacterial and biological activities. Herein, we used the green-chemistry-synthesis procedure, also known as the metathesis method, to develop three series of ionic liquids using 1-methyl-3-butyl imidazolium, butyl pyridinium, and diethyldibutylammonium as cations, and bromide (Br), methanesulfonate (CH3SO3), bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NTf2), dichloroacetate (CHCl2CO2), tetrafluoroborate (BF4), and hydrogen sulfate (HSO4) as anions. Spectroscopic methods were used to validate the structures of the lab-synthesized ILs. We performed an agar well diffusion assay by using pathogenic bacteria that cause various infections (Escherichia coli; Enterobacter aerogenes; Klebsiella pneumoniae; Proteus vulgaris; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Streptococcus pneumoniae; Streptococcus pyogenes) to scrutinize the in vitro antibacterial activity of the ILs. It was established that the nature and unique combination of the cations and anions were responsible for the antibacterial activity of the ILs. Among the tested ionic liquids, the imidazolium cation and NTf2 and HSO4 anions exhibited the highest antibacterial activity. The antibacterial potential was further investigated by in silico studies, and it was observed that bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NTf2) containing imidazolium and pyridinium ionic liquids showed the maximum inhibition against the targeted bacterial strains and could be utilized in antibiotics. These antibacterial activities float the ILs as a promising alternative to the existing antibiotics and antiseptics.  相似文献

Flattened representations are a useful approach to represent the convoluted complex surface of the neocortex of primates and other large-brained mammals. In this study, we compared the flattened representation of neocortical areas obtained from the recently published MRI and histology atlas of the rhesus monkey brain (Saleem KS, Logothetis NK. A combined MRI and histology atlas of the rhesus monkey brain in stereotaxic coordinates. London: Academic; 2007) with other previously published maps. Our results confirm that flat map representations are advantageous due to their ease of use and that current flat maps are well comparable to each other. Some differences arise due to different distinguishing criteria and here too flat maps can help to reveal them.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the multi-Galerkin and multi-collocation methods for solving the Urysohn integral equation with a smooth kernel, using Legendre polynomial basis functions. Superconvergence results for the approximate and iterated approximate solutions of the proposed methods are obtained in both infinity and \(L^2\)-norm. We demonstrate a simple, low‐cost, and scalable process for obtaining uniform, smooth surfaced, high quality mono‐crystalline germanium (100) thin films on silicon (100). The germanium thin films were deposited on a silicon substrate using plasma‐assisted sputtering based physical vapor deposition. They were crystallized by annealing at various temperatures ranging from 700 °C to 1100 °C. We report that the best quality germanium thin films are obtained above the melting point of germanium (937 °C), thus offering a method for in‐situ Czochralski process. The present study reports the green synthesis of starch–maleate (SM) at ambient temperature in solvent-free system using Rhizopus arrhizus lipase as a biocatalyst and maleic acid (MA) as an esterification agent. The synthetic scheme was found to be efficient, economical, and ecofriendly. The newly synthesized SM samples were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopic techniques. The degree of substitution (DS) was found in the range of 0.53–0.62. Moreover, DS was found to be temperature and time-dependent. X-ray diffraction (XRD) exhibited that maleation did not change the crystalline nature of native starch. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that size of SM granules was in the range of 4–18 µm. The activation energy (Ea) of SM formation was calculated to be 42.94 kcal mol?1 which clearly indicated the effective and rapid interaction of functional groups. Hence, the solvent-free solid-state synthetic methodology proved to be excellent for the synthesis of novel biomaterials with appreciable high DS for drug delivery and sorption of heavy metal ions from water.  相似文献

Core-shell impact modifiers are used to enhance the impact strength of thermoplastics such as polycarbonate. The shell of the modifier is designed specifically to interact with the matrix polymer because interfacial adhesion between the modifier and matrix is important in improving the impact strength. Several methods have been proposed to study the interactions at the modifier/matrix interface. One measure of this interaction is the strength of lap joints. The degree of interactions at the interface can be characterized as the thickness of the interfacial region where the chains of the two polymers mix. Yet another aspect is related to the effect of interfacial interactions on the dynamic mechanical properties of the blend. Previous studies have shown that the viscoelastic properties of these blends deviate from the emulsion models that have been proposed for such blends. The deviation of the measured viscoelastic behavior of these blends compared to that predicted by the models has been attributed to the formation of network structure of particles in the blend. The formation of the network structure is a consequence of larger effective volumes of the particles due to interactions at the interface with the matrix. This study provides a means of using rheological properties and the emulsion models to estimate the extent of interaction at the modifier/matrix interface. In blends used in this study it can be shown that the interactions between the modifier and matrix extend far beyond the boundary between the two and the estimated effective volume fraction of modifier is much larger than the actual modifier content in the blend. The effective volume fraction is frequency dependent and decreases with increasing frequency. The data suggest that beyond certain frequencies the modifier no longer interacts with the matrix and the system has properties similar to the matrix with holes. The data are presented which indicate that, within the range studied, lower modifier shell molecular weight results in a higher level of interaction with polycarbonate. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In this paper, we have analyzed the mathematical model of various nonlinear oscillators arising in different fields of engineering. Further, approximate solutions for different variations in oscillators are studied by using feedforward neural networks (NNs) based on the backpropagated Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm (BLMA). A data set for different problem scenarios for the supervised learning of BLMA has been generated by the Runge–Kutta method of order 4 (RK-4) with the “NDSolve” package in Mathematica. The worth of the approximate solution by NN-BLMA is attained by employing the processing of testing, training, and validation of the reference data set. For each model, convergence analysis, error histograms, regression analysis, and curve fitting are considered to study the robustness and accuracy of the design scheme.  相似文献

The proliferation of information and communication technology has made exchange of information easier than ever. Security and copyright protection of multimedia contents in such a scenario has become a major challenge for the research community round the globe. Digital watermarking has been found as an effective tool for protection and security of multimedia content. A secure and robust watermarking scheme based on DC coefficient modification in pixel domain and a modified logistic map is presented in this paper. The cover image is divided into \(8 \times 8\) sub-blocks and instead of computing DC coefficient using discrete cosine transform (DCT), we compute DC coefficient of each block in spatial domain. Watermark bits are embedded by modifying DC coefficients of various blocks in spatial domain. The quantum of change to be brought in various pixels of a block for embedding watermark bit depends upon DC coefficient of respective blocks, nature of watermark bit (0 or 1) to be embedded and the adjustment factor. The security of embedded watermark has been taken care of by using chaotic encryption based on a generalized logistic map (GLM). We show that GLM has better properties like ergodicity, larger lyapunov exponent, uniform invariant density, mixing, higher range of bifurcation parameter etc., compared to basic logistic map. We exploit these properties of GLM for designing a secure robust, strong efficient cryptosystem to encrypt the watermark information before embedding it. Experimental investigations show that besides being highly secure the proposed technique is robust to both signal processing and geometric attacks. Further, the proposed scheme is computationally efficient as DC coefficient which holds the information is computed in pixel domain instead of using DCT on an image block.  相似文献
