Kinetic models for chemotaxis, nonlinearly coupled to a Poisson equation for the chemo-attractant density, are considered. Under suitable assumptions on the turning kernel (including models introduced by Othmer, Dunbar and Alt), convergence in the macroscopic limit to a drift-diffusion model is proven. The drift-diffusion models derived in this way include the classical Keller-Segel model. Furthermore, sufficient conditions for kinetic models are given such that finite-time-blow-up does not occur. Examples are given satisfying these conditions, whereas the macroscopic limit problem is known to exhibit finite-time-blow-up. The main analytical tools are entropy techniques for the macroscopic limit as well as results from potential theory for the control of the chemo-attractant density.Present address: Centro de Matemática e Aplicações Fundamentais, Universidade de Lisboa, Av. The numerical solution of a nonlinear and nonlocal system of integro-differential equations that models the contraction of a single heterogeneous muscle fiber is studied. Fluorides promote the palladium–phenanthroline catalyzed carbonylation of nitroarenes to carbamates. The effect is more evident on the rate of the reaction at short reaction times, but a positive effect on selectivity is also observed under certain conditions. We study the stability of the results of the three-neutrino oscillation analysis of atmospheric and reactor neutrino data
under departures of the one dominant mass scale approximation. In order to do so we perform the analysis of atmospheric and
reactor neutrino data in terms of three-neutrino oscillations where the effect of both mass differences is explicitly considered.
We study the allowed parameter space resulting from this analysis as a function of the mass splitting hierarchy parameter which parameterizes the departure from the one dominant mass scale approximation. We consider schemes with both direct and
inverted mass ordering. Our results show that in the analysis of the atmospheric data the derived range of the largest mass
splitting, , is stable, while the allowed ranges of mixing angles and are wider than those obtained in the one dominant mass scale approximation. Inclusion of the CHOOZ reactor data in the analysis
results in the reduction of the parameter space in particular for the mixing angles. As a consequence the final allowed ranges
of the parameters from the combined analysis are only slightly broader than when obtained in the one dominant mass scale approximation.

Upward and downward two-phase heat and mass transfer has been considered in the present paper. The heat and mass transfer with the condenser located below the evaporator has been obtained by inserting an accumulator tank in the liquid line of a loop thermosyphon and enforcing a pressure pulsation. In previous papers these heat transfer devices have been called pulsated two phase thermosyphons (PTPT). A mini PTPT has been experimentally investigated. It has shown a stable periodic heat transfer regime weakly influenced by the position of the condenser with respect to the evaporator. In contrast a classical loop mini thermosyphon (diameter of connecting pipes 4 mm) did not achieve a stable functioning for the investigated level differences between evaporator and condenser lower than 0.37 m. The present study shows that the functioning of a PTPT device does not directly depend on the level difference or the presence of noncondensable gas. In order to obtain a natural circulation in mini or micro loops, a periodically operating heat transfer regime should therefore be considered. 相似文献
