We argue that the true nature of the renormalizability of Horava-Lifshitz gravity lies in the presence of higher order spatial derivatives and not in the anisotropic Lifshitz scaling of space and time. We discuss the possibility of constructing a higher order spatial derivatives model that has the same renormalization properties of Horava-Lifshitz gravity but that does not make use of the Lifshitz scaling. In addition, the state-of-the-art of the Lorentz symmetry restoration in Horava-Lifshitz-type theories of gravitation is reviewed. 相似文献

We report on a mid-infrared (mid-IR) source consisting of an approximately 10 W average-power, linearly polarized 1.54 microm wavelength pulsed fiber source pumping an optical parametric oscillator. From this source, we obtained average power in excess of 1 W in the 3.8-4.0 microm wavelength range at a pulse repetition frequency of 100 kHz. With a slightly different setup, we also achieved an average power of 0.25 W at 4.5 microm wavelength. To our knowledge, these values represent the highest mid-IR power obtained through wavelength conversion of an eye-safe fiber source. 相似文献

SCHENBERG is a resonant-mass gravitational wave detector built in Brazil. Its spherical antenna, weighting 1.15 t, is connected to the outside world by a suspension system whose main function is to attenuate the external seismic noise. In this work, we report how the system was modeled using finite elements method. The model was validated on experimental data. The simulation showed that the attenuation obtained is of the order of 260 dB, which is sufficient for decreasing the seismic noise below the level of the thermal noise of the detector operating at 50 mK. 相似文献

The preparation of sizeable quantities of luminescent Si nanoparticles (Si-np) with controlled morphology is a challenging
task. Here, we describe two strategies aiming at size reduction of the Si-np produced in a laser-assisted silane pyrolysis
reactor without detrimental effects on the process yield and on the nanoparticle structural and compositional properties.
The first method is based on the addition of a sensitizer gas to dilute silane and consequently reduce the nucleation centres
density without decreasing the reaction temperature. The second consists in the introduction of a collector at a variable
distance from the irradiated region to freeze the particle growth and decrease the inter-particle sintering probability. We
report on the characterization of the produced Si-np, and we show that by combining the two methods, we are able to prepare
4 nm crystalline core size nanoparticles with a productivity of 1 g per hour. We also describe the enhancement effect of the

We report on the use of a single-polarization, 41 μm core-diameter, intrinsically single-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF) to obtain high peak power (up to 800 kW), 1 ns-duration pulses in a 100:1 linearly polarized, intrinsically single-mode (M2 1.2) output. By transmitting the PCF output through nonlinear crystals, we also obtained efficient second, third, and fourth harmonic generation resulting in peak power >400 kW in the visible (green, 531 nm) and 200 kW in the UV (265.5 nm). To our knowledge these results represent the highest peak power obtained in a linearly polarized output from a fiber and the highest peak power in the visible and UV obtained through harmonic generation of the direct fiber output. 相似文献

(S)-β-Bisabolene, (S)-1, was synthetized by a synthetic route in which (S)-4-methyl-3-cyclohexene carboxylic acid, (S)-10, which was the key intermediate, was prepared via a highly diastereoselective TiCl4-catalyzed Diels-Alder reaction between isoprene and the acrylate of commercial (R)-pantolactone, followed by hydrolysis. Compound (S)-10 was then converted into ketone (S)-13 using two different procedures. The best one of these, as regards the degree of stereospecificity, involved the reaction of (S)-10 with 2 equiv of 4-methyl-3-penten-1-yllithium, 14, in the presence of CeCl3, and gave (S)-13 having ca. 84% ee.
