Let Bd denote the unit ball of Cd, d1. Given an inner function I:BdB1, we study the corresponding family σα[I], α?B1, of pluriharmonic Clark measures on the complex sphere. We introduce and investigate related unitary operators Uα mapping analogs of model spaces onto L2(σα), α?B1. Interfacial bonding geometry and electronic structures of In(2)O on InAs and In(0.53)Ga(0.47)As(001)-(4×2) have been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy/scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STM/STS). STM images show that the In(2)O forms an ordered monolayer on both InAs and InGaAs surfaces. In(2)O deposition on the InAs(001)-(4×2) surface does not displace any surface atoms during both room temperature deposition and postdeposition annealing. Oxygen atoms from In(2)O molecules bond with trough In/Ga atoms on the surface to form a new layer of O-In/Ga bonds, which restore many of the strained trough In/Ga atoms into more bulklike tetrahedral sp(3) bonding environments. STS reveals that for both p-type and n-type clean In(0.53)Ga(0.47)As(001)-(4×2) surfaces, the Fermi level resides near the valence band maximum (VBM); however, after In(2)O deposition and postdeposition annealings, the Fermi level position is close to the VBM for p-type samples and close to the conduction band minimum for n-type samples. This result indicates that In(2)O bonding eliminates surface states within the bandgap and forms an unpinned interface when bonding with In(0.53)Ga(0.47)As/InP(001)-(4×2). Density function theory is used to confirm the experimental finding.  相似文献

The emergence of a new environmentally caused variant of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), the result of food-born infection by the causative agent of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), has stimulated research on a practical diagnostic screening test. The immunocompetitive capillary electrophoresis (ICCE) assay has been reported to detect disease-specific, proteinase-resistant prion protein (PrPres) in the blood of scrapie-infected sheep. We have applied this method to blood from CJD-infected chimpanzees and humans. The threshold of detection achieved with our ICCE was 0.6 nM of synthetic peptide corresponding to the prion protein (PrP) C-terminus, and 2 nM of recombinant human PrP at the optimized conditions. However, the test was unable to distinguish between extracts of leucocytes from healthy and CJD-infected chimpanzees, and from healthy human donors and patients affected with various forms of CJD. Thus, the ICCE assay as presently performed is not suitable for use as a screening test in human transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs).  相似文献

The paper deals with an estimation of the total variation distance between stationary distributions of waiting time in two queueing systems with equal Poisson inputs and different distributions B and $\widetilde B$ of service time. Assuming equality of two first moments of B and $\widetilde B$ the continuity inequalities are derived in terms of difference pseudomoments of B and $\widetilde B$ . Efficient energy migration in conjugated polymers is critical to their performance in photovoltaic, display, and sensor devices. The ability to precisely control the polymer conformation is a key issue for the experimental investigations and deeper understanding of the nature of this process. We make use of specially designed iptycene-containing poly(p-phenylene ethynylene)s that display chain-extended conformations when dissolved in nematic liquid crystalline solvents. In these solutions, the polymers show a substantial enhancement in the intrachain exciton migration rate, which is attributed to their increased conjugation length and better alignment. The organizational enhancement of the energy transfer efficiency, as determined by site-selective emission from lower energy traps at the polymer termini, is accompanied by a significant increase of the fluorescence quantum yield. The liquid crystalline phase is a necessary requirement for these phenomena to occur, and when the temperature was increased above the nematic-isotropic transition, we observed a dramatic reduction of the energy transfer efficiency and fluorescence quantum yield. The ability to improve the exciton migration efficiency through precise control of the polymer structure with liquid crystalline solutions demonstrates the importance of a polymer's conformation for energy transfer, and provides a way to improve the energy transporting performance of conjugated polymers.  相似文献

Application of an integrated optics (IO) microcavity (MC) for evanescent excitation of two-photon excited fluorescence (TPF) is demonstrated. The MC provides a high local intensity, which is required for the TPF, because of resonant enhancement of the intracavity power and a strong two-dimensional confinement of the guided mode. Numerical estimations show a large increase, by more than a factor of 104 of the TPF intensity at the MC compared to a conventional straight waveguide. This will lead to a significant improvement of the detection limits of UV-absorbing chromophores (down to 10−8 M) when using the MC as a biosensor. Feasibility of TPF excitation using an IO MC is confirmed experimentally for the first time.  相似文献

Hydrogen-bonded blends based on smectic comb-shaped functionalized LC copolymers containing alkyloxy-4-hydroxybenzoic acid fragments (proton donor) and the low molecular weight dopant 4-(4-pyridyloyl)cyanobenzoate (proton acceptor) were obtained. It was observed that blends containing 10–25 mol-% of low molecular weight dopants form a reentrant nematic phase (SmA-RN-SmA-I). The blend behavior in the magnetic field was studied, and the orientational elastic constants of the RN phase were determined.  相似文献

For the elliptic Gaudin model (a degenerate case of the XYZ integrable spin chain) a separation of variables is constructed in the classical case. The corresponding separated coordinates are obtained as the poles of a suitably normalized Baker-Akhiezer function. The classical results are generalized to the quantum case where the kernel of the separating integral operator is constructed. The simplest one-degree-of-freedom case is studied in detail.
