A study of the reaction K−p→Λπ+π− at c.m. energies in the range 1.65 to 1.72 GeV

Results are presented of a study of the reaction K^?p→Λπ⁺π^? in the c.m. energy region of 1.65 to 1.72 GeV. Dalitz plots indicate that the reaction proceeds primarily through the intermediate states Σ^?(1385)π⁺ and Σ^?(1385)π⁺, but the resonance bands intersect inside the kinematic ellipse and a simple quasi-two-body interpretation is not possible. Legendre coefficients are presented for the angular distributions of the Λπ⁺ and Λπ^? sub-systems in the overall c.m. frame. Analogous coefficients as suggested by Deler and Valladas, which describe the angular distribution of the final three-body state are also presented.     

Kaliumbestimmung durch Chemiluminescenztitration

Zusammenfassung Die beschriebene titrimetrische Bestimmung von Kalium beruht auf der Fällung mit einer bekannten Menge Natriumtetraphenylborat und Chemiluminescenztitration des Reagensüberschusses mit Lucigenin (N,N-Dimethyl-diacridyliumdinitrat)-Maßlösung. Die besten Resultate werden bei Einwaagen von 0,2–0,5 mÄq Kalium erreicht. Die Abweichungen vom theoretischen Wert liegen unter 1,5%.

Determination of potassium by chemiluminescence titration

A titrimetric method for the quantitative determination of potassium has been worked out. Potassium is precipitated with a known quantity of a standard sodium tetraphenyloborate solution, the excess of the latter reagent is back-titrated with a standard solution of lucigenin (N,N-dimethyldiacridyliumdinitrate) by observing the chemiluminescence. Optimal results are obtained, if the quantity of potassium amounts to 0.2 to 0.5 mole-equivalents; the deviation from calculated values is less than 1.5%.

The heat of mixing electrolytes: The cross-square rule in the solvent N-methylacetamide

The six possible heats of mixing of the system Na⁺, Pr₄N⁺?Br^?, I^? have been measured at 35°C in the solvent N-methylacetamide at an ionic strength of 0.5. The cross-square rule of T. F. Young^(1,2) does not hold accurately, and there are strong attractive forces between a cation and an anion. The largest effect in the heats of mixing is the formation of tetra-n-propylammonium iodide interactions. The data is compared to that of the Na⁺,K⁺?Cl^?,NO ₃ ^? system in water.
