This study aimed to evaluate the use of ethanol (ET) and ultrasound (US) in convective drying of strawberry slices, as well as the effect on physicochemical, bioactive, and antioxidant parameters. For this, strawberry slices with a thickness of 0.005 m were pretreated with ET (in different volume fractions), US, and a combination of both. Drying kinetics were performed for control strawberry slices (without ET and US) and pretreated with 50% ethanol (ET50), 50% ethanol and ultrasonic (ET50US), 100% ethanol (ET100), and 100% ethanol and ultrasonic (ET100US) at a temperature of 60 °C. Empirical and diffusive models were fitted to the experimental data to describe the drying kinetics, and the fresh and dried slices were analyzed according to the parameters of water activity (aw), water content, total phenolic compounds (TPC), total anthocyanins (ATS), vitamin C and antioxidant activity (AA) (ABTS?+, DPPH?, and FRAP). The use of the ET100US combination provided an increase in the moisture transport process, higher drying rate, shorter process time (570 min), and reduction of aw to a safe value (aw <0.5), however, it sharply degraded the TPC, ATS, and AA. The ET50US pre-treatment even with a drying time of 690 min was the most efficient, since the values of TPC, ATS, and vitamin C suffered smaller reductions, where the AA varied in only 10.32%, 13.78% and 6.54% for the methods ABTS?+, DPPH?, and FRAP, respectively when compared to fresh strawberry. In this sense, it can be stated that the pre-treatment with 50% ethanol and ultrasound (ET50US) showed less reduction in the degradation of bioactive and antioxidant properties, and in the minimization of drying time for strawberry slices. 相似文献

This work presents a methodology to assist maintenance teams in defining the maintenance schedule and redundancy allocation that minimise the life-cycle average cost of a system. The minimal data required are three average costs and one reliability function. This methodology is useful in a system design phase, since in this situation data is usually scarce or inaccurate, but can also be applied in the exploration phase. It consists of an adaptation of the classical optimal age replacement method, combined with a redundancy allocation problem. A set of simple illustrative examples covering a variety of operating conditions is presented, demonstrating quantitatively the applicability of the methodology to a range of maintenance optimisation decisions. 相似文献

Ultrasound (US) was used to facilitate dead-end microfiltration (MF) of grape pomace (GP) extracts. The effects of ultrasonic power, sonication cycle time and ultrasonic probe height on filtration behaviour were investigated. Ultrasonic irradiation had a strong impact on the MF processes, especially with high output power and continuous mode.A comparative study of US-assisted and stirred MF was performed. The energy consumption and liquid flux enhancement of the two filtration systems were compared. Under the same dissipation power, the flux enhancement is much higher for the US-assisted MF. A correlation equation for predicting permeate flux was derived from resistance-in-series model. The flux predictions were confirmed with the experimental results. We studied the effect of reactor filling time (T) (3-5 h), initial mass of inoculum (M) (1000-2100 g), and exponential time decay constant for the substrate feed rate (K) (0.6-1.6 h-1) on ethanol production by Saccharomyces cerevisiae grown in sugarcane blackstrap molasses through a fed-batch culture. The highest ethanol productivity (16.9 g/[L x h]) occurred at T = 3 h, K = 1.6 h-1, and M = 1300 g. In addition, productivity was affected by both M (for T = 3 and 4 h) and K (for T = 3 h) and varied inversely with T under any value fixed for M and K. One of the major drawbacks in the analysis of aminoglycoside antibiotics is their lack of UV chromophore and/or fluorophore. Tobramycin, a representative member of this group, was examined in this study. To overcome the detection hurdle, a precapillary derivatization followed by capillary electrophoresis analysis with direct UV detection was investigated. A central composite design was applied to optimize the method and three parameters were selected in this study: buffer pH, temperature and % acetonitrile (ACN). Selectivity between tobramycin main component and its adjacent peaks as well as the peak efficiency and symmetry factors were established as responses. For each response, a model was obtained by a second-order mathematical expression. Successful results were obtained with a simple background electrolyte (BGE) containing 30 mM sodium tetraborate, pH 10.2, and ACN (75:25 v/v). Under these conditions, baseline separation of tobramycin from its adjacent kanamycin B and an unknown peak was achieved. A temperature of 20 degrees C and applied voltage of 28.0 kV were used. The method showed good validation data in terms of precision, limits of quantitation and detection, specificity and linearity and was found to be suitable for analysis of tobramycin bulk pharmaceutical samples. 相似文献
