Applications of Laser-Raman spectroscopy to the analysis of polynucleotides containing uridine residues

Summary Qualitative characterization of uridine C(2)-endo-anti and C(3)-endo-anti forms has been carried out for the first time using Laser-Raman spectroscopy. Spectra are presented for some crystals containing the uridine residue whose conformations are known from their X-ray crystallographic analyses. Crystalline uridine and uridine 5-monophosphate as its lithium, sodium, potassium, barium and cadmium salts give Raman bands in the 600–700 cm^–1 range that seem to reflect sensitively and regularly the conformation of the uridine residue and, therefore, are proposed as convenient indicators of the above structures. A method for the determination of the uridine C(2)-endo-anti form in polyribonucleotides is also described. The usefulness of these characterizations in the conformational analysis of polyribonucleotides is shown.     

The precise consistency consensus matrix in a local AHP-group decision making context

In matrix theory, Fu and Markham showed using majorization technique that if a Hermitian matrix satisfies certain conditions, then the matrix must be block-diagonal. In this paper, we extend this result to the setting of simple Euclidean Jordan algebras by using the Cauchy interlacing theorem and the Schur complement Cauchy interlacing theorem.     

Novel Co5 Cluster Based Triazole Bridged Cobalt-Fluorophosphate: Synthesis,Structure, Magnetic and Heterogeneous Catalytic Epoxidation Studies

A novel triazole bridged cobalt fluorophosphate coordination polymer with the formula {Co₅(1,2,4-triazole)₂(OH)₂(PO₃F)₄}_n has been synthesized. Single crystal X-ray studies reveal that the compound comprises of Co₅ clusters which ultimately build the whole framework, here all cobalt centers are in octahedral geometry established from continuous shape analysis. All the cobalt centers are in Co(II) oxidation state and the results are supported by the bond valence sum (BVS) calculation. The sample has been characterized by single crystal X-ray, powder X-ray, FTIR and TGA analysis. The compound was tested for olefin catalysis performance and magnetism. Magnetization measurements reveal overall antiferromagnetic interactions among the Co(II) ions. The compound is very active in the catalytic transformation of olefins to their corresponding epoxides. Catalytic epoxidation studies reveal that cyclohexene and styrene can be converted up to 97 % with almost 65 % selectivity of products with higher TON numbers.     

Photoproduction of large transverse momentum mesons and production of large-pT photons and leptons in proton-proton collisions

The photoproduction of large transverse momentum mesons is examined in a leading particle model using the techniques of the covariant parton model. In the leading particle model the large-p_T meson is produced in a high-energy, wide-angle scattering: γ + q → M + q. Numerical results such as inclusive cross sectioons, angular distributions and particle ratios are presented for the pseudoscalar mesons. The Landshoff-Polking-horne quark-fusion model is then applied to the production of large transverse momentum photons and leptons in proton-proton collisions. In the lepton case this model differs from the usual Drell-Yan mechanism in that the lepton pair has a small invariant mass but comes from a large-p_T virtual photon.
