In this work, we report that 2-cyano-2-phenylpropanoic acid and its p-Cl, p-CH3 and p-OCH3 derivatives can be used as chemical fuels to control the geometry of the calix[4]arene scaffold in its cone conformation. It is shown that, under the action of the fuel, the cone calix[4]arene platform assumes a “locked” shape with two opposite aromatic rings strongly convergent and the other two strongly divergent (“pinched cone” conformation). Only when the fuel is exhausted, the cone calix[4]arene scaffold returns to its resting, “unlocked” shape. Remarkably, the duration of the “locked” state can be controlled at will by varying the fuel structure or amount. A kinetic study of the process shows that the consume of the fuel is catalyzed by the “unlocked” calixarene that behaves as an autocatalyst for its own production. A mechanism is proposed for the reaction of fuel consumption.  相似文献

Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a multisystemic disease involving multiple organ systems including central nervous system (CNS) and muscles. Few studies have focused on the central motor system in DM1, pointing to a subclinical abnormality in the CNS. The aim of our study was to investigate patterns of cerebral activation in DM1 during a motor task using functional MRI (fMRI). Fifteen DM1 patients, aged 20 to 59 years, and 15 controls of comparable age were scanned during a self-paced sequential finger-to-thumb opposition task of their dominant right hand. Functional MRI images were analyzed using SPM99. Patients underwent clinical and genetic assessment; all subjects underwent a conventional MR study. Myotonic dystrophy type 1 patients showed greater activation than controls in bilateral sensorimotor areas and inferior parietal lobules, basal ganglia and thalami, in the ipsilateral premotor area, insula and supplementary motor area (corrected P<.05). Analysis of the interaction between disease and age showed that correlation with age was significantly greater in patients than in controls in bilateral sensorimotor areas and in contralateral parietal areas. Other clinical and MR characteristics did not correlate with fMRI. Functional changes in DM1 may represent compensatory mechanisms such as reorganization and redistribution of functional networks to compensate for ultrastructural and neurochemical changes occurring as part of the accelerated aging process.  相似文献

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) research has shown that brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) lead to reorganization of cortical motor areas. Since it is known that blood oxygenation level-dependent signal in fMRI may be influenced by the hemodynamic perturbation associated with the presence of the AVM, in the present study, a combined exploration with fMRI and transcranial magnetic stimulation was performed in a patient with a right rolandic AVM in order to explore the relationship between neuronal and hemodynamic activity. The combined protocol of investigation adopted in this study was able to provide significant information regarding neuronal activity of the different cortical areas that partake to post-lesional reorganization.  相似文献

In this study, the mechanical performance of the different polymorphs of isotactic polypropylene, typically present in iPP crystallized under industrial processing conditions, is assessed. Different preparation strategies were used to obtain samples consisting of almost solely α, β, or γ crystals. X‐Ray measurements were used to validate that the desired phase was obtained. The intrinsic true stress ‐ true strain response of all individual phases was measured in uniaxial compression at several strain rates (deformation kinetics). Moreover, measurements were performed over a wide temperature range, covering the window in between the glass transition and the melting temperature. The relation between obtained yield stress and the strain rate is described with a modification of the Ree‐Eyring model. Differences and similarities in the deformation kinetics of the different phases are presented and discussed. Furthermore, the presence of three deformation processes, acting in parallel, is revealed. The Ree‐Eyring equation enables lifetime prediction for given thermal and mechanical conditions. Pell graphs     
In this paper, we introduce the Pell graphs, a new family of graphs similar to the Fibonacci cubes. They are defined on certain ternary strings (Pell strings) and turn out to be subgraphs of Fibonacci cubes of odd index. Moreover, as well as ordinary hypercubes and Fibonacci cubes, Pell graphs have several interesting structural and enumerative properties. Here, we determine some of them. Specifically, we obtain a canonical decomposition giving a recursive structure, some basic properties (bipartiteness and existence of maximal matchings), some metric properties (radius, diameter, center, periphery, medianicity), some properties on subhypercubes (cube coefficients and polynomials, cube indices, decomposition in subhypercubes), and, finally, the distribution of the degrees.  相似文献
