For a nontrivial connected graph F, the F-degree of a vertex in a graph G is the number of copies of F in G containing . A graph G is F-continuous (or F-degree continuous) if the F-degrees of every two adjacent vertices of G differ by at most 1. All P3-continuous graphs are determined. It is observed that if G is a nontrivial connected graph that is F-continuous for all nontrivial connected graphs F, then either G is regular or G is a path. In the case of a 2-connected graph F, however, there always exists a regular graph that is not F-continuous. It is also shown that for every graph H and every 2-connected graph F, there exists an F-continuous graph G containing H as an induced subgraph.  相似文献

Synthetic routes to forty‐four dibenzocrown ether alcohols are reported. The new crown ether com pounds are based on a sym‐dibenzo‐16‐crown‐5 platform. Most have a hydroxy group and an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or perfluoroalkyl group on the central carbon of the three‐carbon bridge. Others have substituted benzene rings and either a hydroxy or ‐O(CH2)nOH group attached to the central carbon of the three‐carbon bridge.  相似文献

The main objective of the presented research was to synthesise biodegradable aliphatic polycarbonates containing reactive carboxyl pendant groups and to examine the influence of the copolymer chain microstructure and composition on the process of their hydrolytic degradation and cytocompatibility. The work describes copolymerization of cyclic trimethylene carbonate derivative containing benzyl‐ester pendant group (benzyl 5‐methyl‐2‐oxo‐1,3‐dioxane‐5‐carboxylate) with trimethylene carbonate. The copolymerization was conducted with the use of zinc (II) and lanthanum (III) acetylacetonates as ring‐opening polymerization coordination initiators. Detailed NMR analysis allowed to define the microstructure of the obtained copolymers, which depended on the composition and type of used initiator. The final tapered chain microstructure of the obtained copolymers was related to huge differences in comonomers reactivity and evidenced low level of transesterification of the main copolymer backbone. Chosen copolymers, with unprotected carbonyl groups, were subjected to in vitro degradation test and cytocompatibility studies. It was found that high concentration of carboxyl groups resulted in copolymers which formed hydrogels and were very prone to hydrolytic degradation; they were also cytotoxic toward osteoblast‐like MG 63 cells. Copolymers with lower content of carboxyl groups were found less susceptible to degradation and cytocompatible with studied cells. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Melanin, a major pigment found in retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, is considered to function in dual roles, one protective and one destructive. By quenching free radical species and reactive oxygen species (ROS) melanin counteracts harmful redox stress. However, melanin is also thought to be capable of creating ROS. In this destructive role, melanin increases redox strain in the cell. This study uses readily available eumelanin extracted from porcine RPE cells as a more authentic model than synthetic melanin to determine specific mechanisms of melanin activity with regard to singlet oxygen in the presence and absence of rose bengal, a singlet-oxygen photosensitizer. Optical detection of singlet-oxygen was determined by monitoring the bleaching of p-nitrosodimethylaniline in the presence of histidine. Production of singlet oxygen in aqueous oxygen-saturated solutions of rose bengal without eumelanin was readily accomplished. In contrast, detection of singlet oxygen in oxygen-saturated solutions of eumelanin without rose bengal failed, consistent with results of others. However, a significant decrease in singlet oxygen production by rose bengal was observed in the presence of eumelanin. After correction for light absorption and chemical bleaching of eumelanin, the results show that eumelanin also provides a photoprotective mode arising from chemistry, that is, not just the physical process of light absorption followed by energy dissipation as heat.  相似文献

Metal-catalyzed oxidation (MCO) of proteins is mainly a site-specific process in which one or a few amino acids at metal-binding sites on the protein are preferentially oxidized. The oxidation of proteins by MCO can lead to oxidation of amino acid residue side chains, cleavage of the peptide bonds and formation of covalent protein-protein cross-linked derivatives. In an attempt to elucidate the products of the copper(II)-catalyzed oxidation of the 29-56, M29-D30-56 and Ac-M29-D30-56 fragments of alpha-synuclein, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) methods and Cu(II)/hydrogen peroxide as a model oxidizing system were employed. The peptide solution (0.50 mM) was incubated at 37 degrees C for 24 h with metal : peptide : hydrogen peroxide 1 : 1 : 4 molar ratio in phosphate buffer, pH 7.4. Oxidation targets for all studied peptides are the histidine residues coordinated to the metal ions. For the M29-D30-56 and Ac-M29-D30-56 peptides the oxidation of the methionine residue to methionine sulfoxide and sulfone is observed. The cleavage of the peptide bond M29-D30 for the M29-D30-56 peptide was detected as metal binding residues. The fragmentations of the M29-D30-56 peptide near the Lys residues were observed supporting the participation of this (Lys) residue in the coordination of the copper(II) ions.  相似文献

The unique biology of prion proteins (PrPs) allied with the public-health risks posed by prion zoonoses, such as various animal neurodegenerations, has focused much attention on the molecular basis of the controls cross-species and on the similarities between PrPs from different species. Given the common feature of PrPs as Cu(2+) binding proteins, it appears relevant to compare the impact of Cu(2+) on the stability constants and structures of "physiological" complexes. After having comprehensively delineated the interaction of Cu(2+) with mammalian and avian PrPs, the stabilities and molecular structures of species generated by Cu(2+) interacting with the irregular repeated domain derived from Danio rerio zebrafish PrP-rel-2 were investigated. Copper complexes with different zebrafish PrP-rel-2 fragments were analyzed by potentiometric and spectroscopic techniques. The data were interpreted as to provide evidence of all investigated repeat units selectively binding Cu(2+) via the His imidazole(s). The structural models obtained from paramagnetic NMR showed an intra- or inter-copper binding according to the number of the His in the sequence. In comparison to the mammalian and avian cases, the enzymatic function referred to SOD-like activity was shown to be rather faint in the fish PrPs cases.  相似文献

In this work, a new concept of the solid-state sensors free from EMF instabilities is proposed. In order to prevent the formation of an aqueous layer underneath the ion-selective membrane, instead of improving the hydrophobicity of the monolayer, the moieties terminated with acrylate groups were incorporated within the redox-active monolayer structure. It allowed to “sew” all phases of the sensor (i.e., the transducer, the intermediate layer and the ion-selective membrane) and to obtain a stable and durable ion-selective sensor. It is shown that newly designed monolayer containing both the ferrocene- and the acrylate-terminated molecules does not affect the working parameters of the electrode, such as selectivity or the slope of the calibration curve, although the EMF drift of the sensor is significantly reduced to 0.2 mV per day.  相似文献
