 A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of some phenolic antibiotics namely: cefadroxil, amoxicillin and vancomycin. The method is based on the measurement of the orange yellow species produced when the drugs are coupled with diazotized benzocaine in triethylamine medium. The method is applicable over the range of 0.8–12 μg/ml for cefadroxil, 2–16 μg/ml for amoxicillin and 2–18 μg/ml for vancomycin. The formed compounds absorb at 455 nm for both cefadroxil and amoxicillin and at 442 nm for vancomycin. The proposed method has detection limits of 0.018 μg for cefadroxil, 0.0034 μg for amoxicillin and 0.0156 μg for vancomycin. The stoichiometric ratio for the studied compounds was found to be 1:1 and a proposal of the reaction pathway was made. The proposed method was applied for the analysis of the cited drugs in their pharmaceutical preparations. The results are in good agreement with those obtained by the official methods. This paper presents the activity concentrations of Pu isotopes in surface marine sediments collected from the Sudanese coast of the Red Sea. The following concentration ranges were determined: 238Pu, 4.7–28.6 mBq/kg; 239+240Pu, 53–343 mBq/kg dry weight. The average activity ratios of 238Pu/239+240Pu (0.075±0.045 mBqk/kg) and 239+240Pu/137Cs (0.026±0.025 mBq/kg) are appropriately comparable to the literature values that are characteristic of the global fallout from the atmospheric nuclear weapon tests. However, 239+240Pu/137Cs ratio in sediments collected from the biologically rich fringing reef is an order of magnitude higher compared to other sampling locations.  相似文献

This report describes an evaluation project that aimed to assess the potential of two elementary science specialists, as compared to elementary classroom teachers, to realize the reforms vision for science instruction in elementary classrooms. Participant science specialist background, views of elementary science teaching, and planning and assessment practices were compared to those of regular elementary classroom teachers in the specialist district, as well as in a comparable district not employing specialists. Specialists' views and practices were better aligned with those envisioned by current national reform documents in science education. Despite the constraints imposed by the nature of a program evaluation, the present report provides evidence to suggest that students taught by the science specialists (a) were engaged in open‐ended, inquiry‐oriented, science‐based activities of the kind often advocated, but mostly absent, in elementary school, and (b) demonstrated problem solving and higher order and critical thinking skills. This report is the first to provide empirical support for the advocated “effectiveness” of elementary science specialists in achieving the visions espoused by current reform efforts.  相似文献

Three-dimensional simulations of the buoyant convection in a cylindrical container heated from below are presented. Both the thresholds for the onset of the convection and the nonlinear evolution of this convection are calculated. The simulations concern two configurations: a cavity with a rigid upper surface (Rigid-Rigid case) and a cavity with a non-constrained free surface (Rigid-Free case). The results show a similar variation of the primary thresholds with the aspect ratio for the two configurations. In contrast, the nonlinear evolution of the convection is much changed between the two configurations. A novel linear polymeric pentadentate (O2N2S‐sites) ligand (H3L) bearing both soft and hard donors was prepared by the reaction of a bifunctional carbonyl compound, 4,6‐diacetylresorcinol, with a bifunctional hydrazide compound, thiocarbohydrazide. Mono‐ and binuclear CuII and NiII complexes/each monomeric unit of the polymeric ligand were obtained depending on the pH of the reaction medium and the metal ion. Adducts with 1,10‐phenanthroline (Phen) and 2,2′‐bipyridyl (Bpy) were obtained. Anomalous dimeric CoII/CoIII complexes of the polymeric ligand were obtained in which two molecules of the linear polymeric ligand trapped two cobalt ions (CoII and CoIII) in each monomeric unit. These structures are very interesting in that they contain CoII/CoIII, side by side, as high‐spin square planar coordinated CoII ions and low‐spin (diamagnetic) octahedral coordinated CoIII ions. The suggested structures of the complexes have been elucidated on the basis of elemental and thermal analyses, conductance, and magnetic susceptibility measurements as well as spectral studies (electronic, IR, and ESR spectra). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The transient and steady state creep deformation of Al‐4.5 wt%Cu and Al‐4.5 wt%Cu‐0.1 wt%In alloys were studied using a constant stress in the aging temperatures range 403 to 703 K for various aging times under different working temperatures. Positron annihilation studies using Doppler–broadening measurements were carried out on the specimens used in creep measurements. The subsequent decrease and increase in the creep parameters n, β and εst as well as in Doppler lineshape parameter with increasing aging temperatures and aging times were explained on the basis of structure transformations occuring in Al‐Cu alloys. Crystals of ammonium tetrachlorozincate (AZC) undoped and doped with Sr2+ or Mn2+ in different concentrations were grown by the slow evaporation method from an aqueous solution. The crystal morphology changed considerably by doping. The dopant concentration in the crystals was measured by the atomic absorption technique. Slight changes in the unit cell parameters of AZC after doping with Sr2+‐ or Mn2+ have been detected. Optical absorption measurements indicated strong influence of Sr2+ and Mn2+ doping. The optical energy gap at room temperature decreased continuously with increasing Sr2+ and Mn2+ concentration but with two different rates. The dc conductivity was also measured as a function of temperature for the undoped and two samples doped with 0.144 Sr2+ and 0.191 Mn2+ and the results were compared. New pyrazolo[1.5.4-de]quinoxaline derivatives were prepared by the action of 7-aminoindazole 1 on diethyl and dimethyl acetylene dicarboxylates. The structures of the obtained compounds and the direction of cyclization were investigated through a crystallographic study of compound 2. Further alkylation, hydrogenation, and bromination were also explored. The action of potassium thiocyanate on the obtained halo product led to a tetracyclic compound of 1.3-thiazolo[3.4-a]pyrazolo[1.5.4-de]quinoxaline series.  相似文献
