We demonstrate a high-throughput and high-damage-threshold beam splitter for high-order harmonics in the soft-x-ray region that uses Si and (or) SiC plates set at Brewster's angle with respect to the pump wavelength. The beam splitters are guaranteed to have a damage threshold of at least 0.8 TW/cm2 (average power density, 0.25 W/cm2) and an attenuation rate of 10(-4)-10(-5) for a 30-fs pump pulse. The measured reflection efficiency at the 27th harmonic (29.6 nm) was 0.56 for Si and 0.45 for SiC. Allenyl alcohols such as 4-hydroxybuta-1,2-dienes and 5-hydroxypenta-1,2-dienes having a variety of substituents undergo cyclocarbonylation in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst under mild conditions selectively to give five- and six-membered lactones in a high yield with 100% atom economy. 5-Aminopenta-1,2-dines are also cyclocarbonylated to give gamma-lactams. A possible carbonylation mechanism involving a ruthenium cluster intermediate is proposed on the basis of experimental results. 相似文献
The preparation of star‐shaped poly(γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate)s by the ring‐opening polymerization of N‐carboxy anhydride γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate (BLG‐NCA) with hexakis(4‐aminomethylphenoxy)‐ ( 4 ) and hexakis(4‐aminophenoxy)cyclotriphosphazenes ( 6 ), and the conformation of resulting polymers has been studied. The six amino groups in 4 can initiate the polymerization of BLG‐NCA to give star‐shaped polyglutamates ( 7 ) with narrow molecular weight distributions (Mw/Mn = 1.10–1.33). For the polymerization of BLG‐NCA with 6 , however, a high ratio of [BLG‐MCA]/[ 6 ] was required to obtain star‐shaped polyglutamates ( 8 ). The conformation of 7 changed from a β‐sheet form to a right‐handed α‐helix form, depending on the degree of polymerization per chain (DPn/6). The helix content of hexa‐armed poly (γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate‐co‐L ‐glutamic acid)s ( 9 ), prepared by partial hydrolysis of 7 , increased significantly compared with that of the corresponding linear analogue ( 10 ). As increasing of helix content of 9 , the fluorescence spectra of 8‐anilino‐1‐naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS), a fluorescence probe, shifted to a short wavelength accompanied by the enhancement of intensity, suggesting that star‐shaped polymers are liable to form hydrophobic domains. From these results and the structural feature of the cyclotriphosphazene core, the formation of a 3α‐helix bundle structure of polyglutamates on both sides of the phosphazene ring has been suggested.

. We first examine the domain of attraction of steady states (and also of general solutions) in a class of admissible functions. In particular, we give a sharp condition on the initial function u0 so that the solution of the above problem converges to a given steady state. Then we consider the asymptotic behavior of global solutions bounded above and below by classical steady states (such solutions have compact trajectories in C0(N), under the supremum norm). Our main result reveals an interesting possibility: the solution may approach a continuum of steady states, not settling down to any particular one of them. Finally, we prove the existence of global unbounded solutions, a phenomenon that does not occur for Sobolev-subcritical exponents.

A shadow system appears as a limit of a reaction-diffusion system in which some components have infinite diffusivity. We investigate the spatial structure of its stable solutions. It is known that, unlike scalar reaction-diffusion equations, some shadow systems may have stable nonconstant (monotone) solutions. On the other hand, it is also known that in autonomous shadow systems any nonconstant non-monotone stationary solution is necessarily unstable. In this paper, it is shown in a general setting that any stable bounded (not necessarily stationary) solution is asymptotically homogeneous or eventually monotone in .
Effects of humidity on nonlinear transmission properties due to saturable absorption were investigated using eosin-Y-doped polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) films which had been exposed to a highly humid atmosphere. In a pump-probe measurement, a transmitted probe signal changed in every shot of the pump-pulse irradiation, and tended to approach a steady characteristic. Simultaneous measurements of the transmitted probe power and the phosphorescent lifetime showed that these phenomena stem from the phosphorescent lifetime being lengthened by the successive pump irradiations. This increase in lifetime was found to have originated from reduction of a nonradiative decay rate of an excited state of the dyes. The recurrent pump irradiations are believed to remove moisture, which has strengthened the nonradiative decay rate, from the PVA films. 相似文献
To clarify the advantage of using the quasilikelihood method, lack of robustness of the maximum likelihood method was demonstrated for the negative-binomial model. Efficiency calculations of the method of moments and the pseudolikelihood method in the estimation of extra-Poisson parameters in a negative-binomial model were carried out. Especially when the overdispersion parameter is small, both methods are relatively highly efficient and the pseudolikelihood estimate is more efficient than the method of moments estimate. Two examples of the quasilikelihood analyses of count data with overdispersion are given. The bootstrap method also is applied to the data to illustrate the advantage of the method of moments or pseudolikelihood method in the estimation of the standard errors of the mean parameter estimates under the negative-binomial model. 相似文献
