Calculations using density functional theory were performed to explore the mechanisms for atmospheric degradation of isopropyl methyl methylphosphonate (IMMP). The potential energy surface profiles for OH‐initiated reaction of IMMP were constructed, and all possible degradation channels were considered. Rate constants were further calculated using transition state theory. It was established from these calculations that H‐abstractions from alkyl groups have much lower energy barriers than substitutions of alkoxyl groups, and four possible H‐abstraction channels are competitive. Investigations into the secondary reactions under the presence of O2/NO were also performed. It is shown that O2 addition, reaction of peroxide radicals with NO to form RO radicals, and removal of ·RO are the major degradation pathways for alkyl radicals. Four selected products, CH3OP(O)(CH3)OC(O)CH3, CH3OP(O)(O)CH3, (CH3)2CHOP(O)(CH3)OH, and (CH3)2CHOP(O)(CH3)OCH?O, are predicted to be the major products in this study. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of an intra-host model of malaria with logistic red blood growth, treatment and immune response. We provide a theoretical study of the model. We derive the basic reproduction number $\mathcal R_f$ which determines the extinction and the persistence of malaria within the body of a host. We compute equilibria and study their stability. More precisely, we show that there exists a threshold parameter $\zeta$ such that if $\mathcal R_f\leq\zeta\leq1$, the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. However, if $\mathcal R_f>1$, there exist two malaria infection equilibria which are locally asymptotically stable: one malaria infection equilibrium without immune response and one malaria infection equilibrium with immune response. The sensitivity analysis of the model has been performed in order to determine the impact of related parameters on outbreak severity. The theory is supported by numerical simulations. We also derive a spatio-temporal model, using Diffusion-Reaction equations to model parasites dispersal. Finally, we provide numerical simulations for parasites spreading, and test different treatment scenarios. 相似文献

Dilute gas Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC's), currently used to cool fermionic atoms in atom traps, can also probe the superfluidity of these fermions. The damping rate of BEC-acoustic excitations (phonon modes), measured in the middle of the trap as a function of the phonon momentum, yields an unambiguous signature of BCS-like superfluidity, provides a measurement of the superfluid gap parameter, and gives an estimate of the size of the Cooper pairs in the BEC-BCS crossover regime. We also predict kinks in the momentum dependence of the damping rate which can reveal detailed information about the fermion quasiparticle dispersion relation. 相似文献

A high level of tunability and control over arrays of quantum dots are key ingredients toward the goal of scalable‐based qubit architectures. Increasing array size simultaneously increases the parameter space and therefore the tuning complexity. The electron reconfiguration behavior of quantum dot arrays isolated from the electron reservoirs is studied experimentally. Isolating a quantum dot array from the reservoirs does not only enable a high degree of control over the tunnel couplings but at the same time drastically simplifies the stability diagrams for small numbers of electrons trapped in the array. Experimental results on double, triple, and quadruple quantum dot arrays are presented and complementary model calculations allow the identification of all transitions observed in the experiment. Highly tunable long‐range transitions are observed in isolated triple quantum dots and evidence of higher‐order cotunneling is found for the quadruple quantum dot array. 相似文献

Summary In a decreasing sequence of intervals centered on the true mode the normalized kernel estimate of the density converges weakly to a nonstationary Gaussian random process. The expected value of this process is a parabola through the origin. The covariance function of this process depends on the smoothness of the kernel. When the kernel is mean-square differentiable the location of the maximum of this process has a normal distribution. The characteristics of confined epitaxial growth are investigated with the goal of determining the contributing effects of mask attributes (spacing, feature size) and growth conditions (V/III ratio, pressure, temperature) on the efficiency of the approach for dislocation density reduction of GaN. In addition to standard (secondary electron and atomic force) microscopy, electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) is employed to identify extended defects over large (tens of microns) areas. Using this method, it is illustrated that by confining the epitaxial growth, high quality GaN can be grown with dislocation densities approaching zero. 相似文献

A tetraoxo bis‐Zn(salphen) supramolecular host can bind various divalent metal salts, thereby providing access to trinuclear bifunctional systems that incorporate both Lewis acid sites and dynamically bound nucleophilic anions. The formation of these trinuclear species was investigated and their stability features were also determined. The application of these trinuclear complexes as bifunctional catalysts was evaluated in the formation of cyclic organic carbonates from epoxides and CO2. The catalytic data, in combination with control experiments, clearly demonstrate that these trinuclear compounds show much higher recycling potential compared to various control compounds and they can be used in up to five cycles without an observable loss in activity. A matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS)-based method has been developed for rapid differentiation between Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius, two herbal medicines with similar chemical and physical properties but different therapeutic effects. This method required only a small quantity of samples, and the herbal medicines were analyzed by MALDI-MS either after a brief extraction step, or directly on the powder form or small pieces of raw samples. The acquired MALDI-MS spectra showed different patterns of ginsenosides and small chemical molecules between P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius, thus allowing unambiguous differentiation between the two Panax species based on the specific ions, intensity ratios of characteristic ions or principal component analysis. The approach could also be used to differentiate red ginseng or P. quinquefolius adulterated with P. ginseng from pure P. ginseng and pure Panax quinquefolium. The intensity ratios of characteristic ions in the MALDI-MS spectra showed high reproducibility and enabled quantitative determination of ginsenosides in the herbal samples and percentage of P. quinquefolius in the adulterated binary mixture. Whole treechips obtained from softwood forest thinnings were pretreated via single-and two-stage dilute-sulfuric acid pretreatment.
Whole-tree chips were impregnated with dilute sulfuric acid and steam treated in a 4-L steam explosion reactor. In single-stage
pretreatment, wood chips were treated using a wide range of severity. In two-stage pretreatment, the first stage was carried
out at low severity tomaximize hemicellulose recovery. Solubilized sugars were recovered from the first-stage prehydrolysate
by washing with water. In the second stage, water-insoluble solids from first-stage prehydrolysate were impregnated with dilute
sulfuric acid, then steam treated at more severe conditions to hydrolyze a portion of the remaining cellulose to glucose and
to improve the enzyme digestibility. The total sugar yields obtained after enzymatic hydrolysis of two-stage dilute acid-pretreated
samples were compared with sugar yields from single-stage pretreatment. The overall sugar yield from two-stage dilute-acid
pretreatment was approx 10% higher, and the net enzyme requirement was reduced by about 50%. Simultaneous saccharification
and fermentation using an adapted Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strain further improved cellulose conversion yield and lowered the enzyme requirement. 相似文献
