Experiments have found that freely relaxing turbulence in inviscid, incompressible two-dimensional Euler flows can self-organize into ordered structures-vortex crystals-in which a number N(c) approximately 2-20 of strong vortices form stable, rigidly rotating patterns in a low vorticity background. In this paper we show that N(c) can be roughly predicted from properties of the flows in the early stage of the turbulent relaxation.  相似文献

A gas of two Boson systems coexisting inR 3, and interacting only mutually, is analyzed. The interaction is quadratic, so that the dynamical problem may be solved completely and exactly.The initial state is taken to be the mutually uncorrelated Gibbs states: (1) (2) = . We find the time evolved state, and its projections onto the separate species and the subvolumes.The principle consequences of this model are discussed. The gas-phase basicity (GB) of the flexible polyfunctional N(1),N(1)-dimethyl-N(2)-beta-(2-pyridylethyl)formamidine (1) containing two potential basic sites (the ring N-aza and the chain N-imino) is obtained from proton-transfer equilibrium constant measurements, using Fourier-transform ion-cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. Comparison of the experimental GB obtained for 1 with those reported for model amidines and azines indicates that the chain N-imino in the amidine group is the favored site of protonation. Semiempirical (AM1) and ab initio calculations (HF, MP2, and DFT), performed for 1 and its protonated forms, confirm this interpretation. These results are in contrast to those found previously for N(1),N(1)-dimethyl-N(2)-azinylformamidines (containing the amidine function directly linked to the azinyl ring), in which the ring N-aza is the most basic site in the gas phase. The separation of the two potential basic sites in 1 by the ethylene chain interrupts the resonance conjugation between the two functions and changes their relative basicities and, thus, the preferable site of protonation. It also increases the chelation effect against the proton and the gas-phase basicity of 1 in such a magnitude that consequently 1 may be classified as a superbase (GB = 241.1 kcal mol(-)(1)). A transition state corresponding to the internal transfer of the proton (ITP) between the ring N-aza and the chain N-imino in 1 is investigated at the DFT(B3LYP)/6-31G level. The energy barrier calculated for the ITP between the two basic sites is small and vanishes when zero-point vibrational terms and thermal corrections are applied to obtain the enthalpy or Gibbs energy of activation for the proton transfer. Additional calculations at the DFT(MPW1K)/6-31G level confirm this behavior. This indicates that the quantum-chemical ITP in 1 has a single-well character. The proton is located on the N-imino site, and the H-bond is formed with the N-aza site.  相似文献

Silica (SiO2) is regarded as one of the most promising anode materials for lithium‐ion batteries due to the high theoretical specific capacity and extremely low cost. However, the low intrinsic electrical conductivity and the big volume change during charge/discharge cycles result in a poor electrochemical performance. Here, hollow silica spheres embedded in porous carbon (HSS–C) composites are synthesized and investigated as an anode material for lithium‐ion batteries. The HSS–C composites demonstrate a high specific capacity of about 910 mA h g?1 at a rate of 200 mA g?1 after 150 cycles and exhibit good rate capability. The porous carbon with a large surface area and void space filled both inside and outside of the hollow silica spheres acts as an excellent conductive layer to enhance the overall conductivity of the electrode, shortens the diffusion path length for the transport of lithium ions, and also buffers the volume change accompanied with lithium‐ion insertion/extraction processes.  相似文献

Background  

To develop antibacterial agents having novel modes of action against bacterial cell wall biosynthesis, we targeted the essential MurF enzyme of the antibiotic resistant pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. MurF catalyzes the formation of a peptide bond between D-Alanyl-D-Alanine (D-Ala-D-Ala) and the cell wall precursor uridine 5'-diphosphoryl N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanyl-D-glutamyl-meso-diaminopimelic acid (UDP-MurNAc-Ala-Glu-meso-A2pm) with the concomitant hydrolysis of ATP to ADP and inorganic phosphate, yielding UDP-N-acetylmuramyl-pentapeptide. As MurF acts on a dipeptide, we exploited a phage display approach to identify peptide ligands having high binding affinities for the enzyme.  相似文献

A single trapped ion is converted into a pseudo-two-photon source by splitting its resonance fluorescence, delaying part of it and by recombining both parts on a beam splitter. A destructive two-photon interference is observed with a contrast reaching 83(5)%. The spectral brightness of our two-photon source is quantified and shown to be comparable to parametric down-conversion devices.  相似文献

The clinical success of PD-1/PD-L1 immune checkpoint targeting antibodies in cancer is followed by efforts to develop small molecule inhibitors with better penetration into solid tumors and more favorable pharmacokinetics. Here we report the crystal structure of a macrocyclic peptide inhibitor (peptide 104) in complex with PD-L1. Our structure shows no indication of an unusual bifurcated binding mode demonstrated earlier for another peptide of the same family (peptide 101). The binding mode relies on extensive hydrophobic interactions at the center of the binding surface and an electrostatic patch at the side. An interesting sulfur/π interaction supports the macrocycle-receptor binding. Overall, our results allow a better understanding of forces guiding macrocycle affinity for PD-L1, providing a rationale for future structure-based inhibitor design and rational optimization.  相似文献

The design, fabrication, and testing of photoelastic models of double-lap, multiple-pin connectors are discussed. Interest is in the stresses in the inner laps. These stresses are determined by constructing models with photoelastic inner laps and transparent-acrylic outer laps. The connectors have two pins, in tandem, parallel to the load direction. A photoelastic-isotropic point is shown to permit the evaluation of load sharing between the two pins. A numerical scheme, utilizing the isochromatic- and isoclinic-photoelastic data and a finite-difference representation of the planestress equilibrium equations, is used to compute the stresses around the two pins. Representative stress distributions and stress-concentration factors are shown.  相似文献
