As the largest mass concentrations in the local Universe, nearby clusters of galaxies and their central galaxies are prime targets in searching for indirect signatures of dark matter annihilation (DMA). We seek to constrain the dark matter annihilation emission component from multi-frequency observations of the central galaxy of the Virgo cluster. The annihilation emission component is modeled by the prompt and inverse-Compton gamma rays from the hadronization of annihilation products from generic weakly interacting dark matter particles. This component is fitted to the excess of the observed data above the spectral energy distribution (SED) of the jet in M87, described with a best-fit synchrotron-self-Compton (SSC) spectrum. While this result is not sufficiently significant to claim a detection, we emphasize that a dark matter “double hump signature” can be used to unambiguously discriminate the dark matter emission component from the variable jet-related emission of M87 in future, more extended observation campaigns.  相似文献

We describe the preparation of a compound whose molecules consist of two metal sandwich stands carrying tentacles with affinity to metal surfaces and holding an axle that carries a dipolar or a nonpolar rotator. The dipolar rotor exists as three pairs of enantiomers, rapidly interconverting at room temperature. When mounted on a gold surface, each molecule represents a chiral altitudinal rotor, with the rotator axle parallel to the surface. The surface-mounted rotor molecules are characterized by several spectroscopic and imaging techniques. At any one time, in about one-third of the dipolar rotors the rotator is free to turn and the direction of its dipole can be flipped by the electric field applied by an STM tip, as revealed by differential barrier height imaging. Molecular dynamics calculations suggest that electric field normal to the surface causes members of one pair of enantiomers to rotate unidirectionally.  相似文献

The interaction of alkanethiolates with small coinage metal clusters of copper and gold was studied based on density functional theory with a focus on the metal-thiolate junction. Calculation of fragmentation energies indicate that for Cu(n)-thiolate (n = 1,3,5,7, and 9) there is a progressive lowering in energy for the fragmentation of the S-C bond in the thiolate from a value of 2.9 eV for n = 1 to 1.4 eV for n = 9. The detailed electronic origins of this specific weakening are attributed to a polarization of electron density in the S-C bond as induced by bonding with the Cu(n) cluster. For the gold analogues, this effect is not observed and fragmentation at the S-C bond experiences only a slight 10% destabilization as n increases from 3 to 9. The relativistic origin of this difference between Cu and Au is discussed, and an analysis of bonding considerations is presented.  相似文献

The synthesis of stopcocks based on zinc phthalocyanine for selective adsorption at the channel entrances of zeolite L is reported. The introduction of either an inert SiMe? moiety, an imidazolium cation or a reactive isothiocyanate (NCS) group allows attachment to the channel entrances of zeolite L through van der Waals interactions, electrostatic interactions, or covalent binding, respectively. Stopcocks that rely on van-der-Waals-driven adsorption require careful selection of the solvent used for the deposition onto the zeolite surface to avoid a nonspecific distribution of the molecules. Regarding the design of photonic antenna systems, a stopcock with a cationic tail was found to be the most convenient, based on the observation that efficient energy transfer from molecules located in the zeolite nanochannels is more readily obtained than in the other cases.  相似文献

In recent years, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) has become increasingly common. As published in the literature, FAI is caused by an unphysiological contact between the proximal femur and the acetabular rim, which may lead to pain, limitation of movement, and damage of cartilage. In this paper, patient-specific finite element simulations of the movement of the hip based on gait motion data and MRI segmentation were conducted to check stresses of the acetabulum and femur, and additionally whether a bony contact is present or not. The study's findings show no bony contact between femur and acetabulum, which may lead to the hypothesis that the labrum and its deformation and/or the articular capsule are involved in the mechanism of FAI. Herein, we report on the structural design principle of small‐molecule organic semiconductors as metal‐free, pure organic and visible light‐active photocatalysts. Two series of electron‐donor and acceptor‐type organic semiconductor molecules were synthesized to meet crucial requirements, such as 1) absorption range in the visible region, 2) sufficient photoredox potential, and 3) long lifetime of photogenerated excitons. The photocatalytic activity was demonstrated in the intermolecular C?H functionalization of electron‐rich heteroaromates with malonate derivatives. A mechanistic study of the light‐induced electron transport between the organic photocatalyst, substrate, and the sacrificial agent are described. With their tunable absorption range and defined energy‐band structure, the small‐molecule organic semiconductors could offer a new class of metal‐free and visible light‐active photocatalysts for chemical reactions.  相似文献
