Thermoelastic free vibration of clampe circular plate

An analysis was given for the free vibration of clamped circular plate when temperature and stress fields were coupled. A nonlinear differential equation about time was obtained by using Galerkin’s method. The numerical results of vibration amplitude vs time were compared with the uncoupled case. It is found that if the given initial displacement is small, the effect of thermoelastical coupling will make the natural frequency increase; if the given initial displacement is large, it will be the opposite case. Effects of some different vibration factors are also discussed.     

Equivalent Boundary Integral Equations with indirect unknowns for thin elastic plate bending theory

Equivalent Boundary Integral Equations (EBIE) with indirect unknowns for thin elastic plate bending theory, which is equivalent to the original boundary value problem, is established rigorously by mathematical technique of non-analytic continuation and is fully proved by means of the variational principle. The previous three kinds of boundary integral equations with indirect unknowns are discussed thoroughly and it is shown that all previous results are not EBIE. An electronic, aptamer-based small-molecule sensor for the rapid, label-free detection of cocaine in adulterated samples and biological fluids

Whereas spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for the detection of small organic molecules have achieved impressive results, these methods are generally slow and cumbersome, and thus the development of a general means for the real-time, electronic detection of such targets remains a compelling goal. Here we demonstrate a potentially general, label-free electronic method for the detection of small-molecule targets by building a rapid, reagentless biosensor for the detection of cocaine. The sensor, based on the electrochemical interrogation of a structure-switching aptamer, specifically detects micromolar cocaine in seconds. Because signal generation is based on binding-induced folding, the sensor is highly selective and works directly in blood serum and in the presence of commonly employed interferents and cutting agents, and because all of the sensor components are covalently attached to the electrode surface, the sensor is also reusable: we achieve >99% signal regeneration upon a brief, room temperature aqueous wash. Given recent advances in the generation of highly specific aptamers, this detection platform may be readily adapted for the detection of other small molecules of a wide range of clinically and environmentally relevant small molecules.

Substoichiometric determination of rhenium in copper ores and molybdenum concentrates by neutron activation analysis

A simple and rapid substoichiometric method is described for the estimation of rhenium in copper ores and molybdenum concentrates by neutron activation analysis. 2 μg of Re can be determined with an accuracy of 4%. The variation of the mean at 95% confidence limit does not exceed 2%. The time required for processing three samples is less than 60 min.
