The fluorinated compound, (S)-4′′-(6-perfluoropentanoyoxyhexyl-1-oxy)-2′,3′-difluoro-4-(1-methylheptyloxycarbonyl)-[1,1′:4′,1′′]-terphenyl, which exhibits antiferroelectric SmCA*, ferroelectric SmC* and paraelectric SmA* phases, has been investigated by polarising optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction and frequency-dependent dielectric spectroscopy methods. X-ray studies have revealed that the layer thickness remains almost constant in the SmA* phase but within the SmC* and SmCA* phases it decreases with decreasing temperature, a step jump being observed only at the SmA*–SmC* transition. The tilt angle in the SmCA* phase decreases from 22.2° to 19.5°, and in the SmC* phase it decreases from 18.8° to 5.5°. Spontaneous polarisation is found to be quite high and varies between 74.1 and 118.7 nC cm?2. The variation in ε′ and ε′′ with temperature shows a discontinuous change at the transition temperatures. Goldstone mode relaxation is only observed in the ferroelectric and antiferroelectric phases and is found to be of the Cole–Cole type. The soft mode is observed on application of a bias field near the SmC*–SmA* transition. Neither the soft mode nor the anti-phase azimuthal angle fluctuation mode is observed in SmCA*. Rotational viscosity decreases quite rapidly with temperature but in a different manner in the ferroelectric and antiferroelectric phases. Activation energy for this process is found to be 48.14 kJ mol?1 in the SmC* phase.  相似文献

A simple and inexpensive method for immobilizing alpha-amylase from Bacillus circulans GRS 313 on coconut fiber was developed. The immobilization conditions for highest efficiency were optimized with respect to immobilization pH of 5.5, 30 degrees C, contact time of 4 h, and enzyme to support a ratio of 1:1 containing 0.12 mg/mL of protein. The catalytic properties of the immobilized enzyme were compared with that of the free enzyme. The activity of amylase adsorbed on coconut fiber was 38.7 U/g of fiber at its optimum pH of 5.7 and 48 degrees C, compared with the maximum activity of 40.2 U/mL of free enzyme at the optimum pH of 4.9 and 48 degrees C. The reutilization capacity of the immobilized enzyme was up to three cycles.  相似文献

Summary Reactions of glyoxal bis(morpholineN-thiohydrazone), H2gbmth, with NiCl2·6H2O, Ni(OAc)2·4H2O, Ni(acac)2· H2O, CuCl2·2H2O, Cu(OAc)2·H2O, Cu(acac)2, CoCl2· 6H2O, Co(OAc)2·4H2O and Co(acac)2·2H2O yield complexes of the type [M(gbmth)], [M=NiII, CuII or CoII]. Diacetyl reacts with morpholineN-thiohydrazide in the presence of nickel salts to yield [NiII(dbmth)], [NiII(dmth)(OAc)]H2O and [NiII(Hdmth)(NH3)Cl2] involving N2S2 and NSO donor ligands. Copper and cobalt complexes of N2S2 and NSO donor ligands with compositions [CuII(dbmth)], [CoII(dbmth)]·4H2O and [CoII(H2dbmth)]Cl2, have been isolated. The compounds have been characterised by elemental analyses, magnetic moments, molar conductance values and spectroscopic (electronic and infrared) data.  相似文献

A highly efficient black TiO2-Ag photocatalytic nanocomposite, active under both UV and visible light illumination, was synthesized by decorating the surface of 25 nm TiO2 particles with Ag nanoparticles. The material was obtained via a rapid, one-pot, simple (surfactant and complexing agent free) chemical reduction method using silver nitrate and formaldehyde as a metal salt and reducing agent, respectively. The nanocomposite shows an increase of over 800% in the rate of photocatalytic methylene blue dye degradation, compared to commercial unmodified TiO2, under UV-VIS illumination. Unlike pure TiO2, the nanocomposite exhibits visible light activation, with a corresponding drop in optical reflectance from 100% to less than 10%. The photocatalytic properties were shown to be strongly enhanced by post-reduction annealing heat treatments in air, which were observed to decrease, rather than coarsen, silver particle size, and increase particle distribution. This, accompanied by a variation in the silver surface oxidation states, appear to dramatically affect the photocatalytic efficiency under both UV and visible light. This highly active photocatalyst could have wide ranging applications in water and air pollution remediation and solar fuel production.  相似文献

An unprecedented reactivity profile of biochemically relevant R‐benzofuroxan (R=H, Me, Cl), with high structural diversity and molecular complexity on a selective {Ru(acac)2} (acac=acetylacetonate) platform, in conjugation with EtOH solvent mediation, is revealed. This led to the development of monomeric [RuIII(acac)2(L1R)] ( 1 a – 1 c ; L1R=2‐nitrosoanilido derivatives) and dimeric [{RuII(acac)2}2(L2R)] ( 2 a – 2 b ; L2R=(1E,2E)‐N1,N2‐bis(2‐nitrosophenyl)ethane‐1,2‐diimine derivatives) complexes in one pot with a change in the metal redox conditions. The functionalization of benzofuroxan in 1 and 2 implied in situ reduction of N=O to NH? in the former and solvent‐assisted multiple N?C coupling in the latter. The aforesaid transformation processes were authenticated through structural elucidation of representative complexes, and evaluated by their spectroscopic/electrochemical features, along with C2D5OD labeling and monitoring of the impact of substituents (R) in the benzofuroxan framework on the product distribution process. The noninnocent potential of newly developed L1 and L2 in 1 and 2 , respectively, was also probed by spectroelectrochemistry in combination with DFT calculations.  相似文献

In this article, we describe a solid-state photoelectrochemical cell for light detection. Safranine-T dye mixed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution was deposited on a conducting and transparent indium-tin-oxide (ITO)-coated glass that was used as one electrode and another ITO-coated glass as the counterelectrode. A solid polymeric electrolyte consisting of polyethylene oxide-ammonium perchlorate-ethylene carbonate and propylene carbonate with suitable weight ratio was prepared and sandwiched between these two ITO-coated glass electrodes, which were separated by a Teflon spacer about 50 μm thick. The cell was biased with a direct current source to make the dye and PVA-coated ITO as the anode and the other ITO as the cathode. On illumination by a tungsten lamp, from the cathode side, the change of photocurrent was measured. The dark current-voltage characteristics and the growth and decay of the photocurrent for steady and pulsed illumination were studied.  相似文献

The paper reports the oxidation behaviour of Indian variety of reduced activation ferritic martensitic steel (RAFMS) proposed to be used as a first wall material in test blanket module in ITER and future fusion reactors. Oxidation of first wall can occur in case of a catastrophic leak in the vacuum vessel of fusion reactor. The oxidation of Indian RAFMS was done at 450–650 °C. Long-term oxidation for 25, 50 and 100 h was studied at 550 °C. A mass gain/unit area vs time was plotted and oxidation kinetics determined. The cross section SEM of the oxidised RAFMS was done. The SEM micrographs showed two distinct layers of oxides that have formed with total thickness of around 10 µm. Glancing-angle XRD showed that the top layer is essentially a mixture of magnetite and haematite. A strong enrichment of Cr is visible in a narrow band below the top layer near the scale/alloy interface. It was found that formation of this Cr-rich spinel mid-layer ensures the short-term and long-term oxidation resistance of IN-RAFMS in case of any accidental leak in fusion reactor conditions.  相似文献

We investigate how well the graph of a bilinear function \(b{:}\;[0,1]^n\rightarrow \mathbb {R}\) can be approximated by its McCormick relaxation. In particular, we are interested in the smallest number c such that the difference between the concave upper bounding and convex lower bounding functions obtained from the McCormick relaxation approach is at most c times the difference between the concave and convex envelopes. Answering a question of Luedtke, Namazifar and Linderoth, we show that this factor c cannot be bounded by a constant independent of n. More precisely, we show that for a random bilinear function b we have asymptotically almost surely \(c\geqslant \sqrt{n}/4\). On the other hand, we prove that \(c\leqslant 600\sqrt{n}\), which improves the linear upper bound proved by Luedtke, Namazifar and Linderoth. In addition, we present an alternative proof for a result of Misener, Smadbeck and Floudas characterizing functions b for which the McCormick relaxation is equal to the convex hull.  相似文献
