A high output low-pressure mercury lamp, 400 W L-Hg, was successfully used for the photolytic decomposition of dissolved oganic compounds as the pretreatment for the determination of trace metal ion in aqueous solution by stripping voltammetry. Various amino acids, showing interferences on voltammetric determination of metal ions, can be removed quite easily by intensive UV irradiation at room temperature. Effect of pH, concentration of electrolyte and dissolved oxygen on the efficiency of photolysis are also described. This method uses no additional chemicals such as acids or oxidants and can be carried out in closed clean conditions. 相似文献

A simple semiempirical approximation previously proposed for the isotropic intermolecular forces between two closed shell systems is tested in detail for the argon-argon interaction. The potential is based on the knowledge of the first-order coulomb interaction energy, a suitably damped three term long range asymptotic expansion of the second order coulomb energy, and a semiempirical representation of the exchange interaction energy which contains one adjustable parameter. The single adjustable parameter can be reliably determined by fitting the second virial coefficient for argon in the 130–773 K temperature range with the long range interaction coefficients being constrained within the theoretical bounds specified by Tang, Norbeck and Certain. The reliability of the potential is compared with that of several literature potentials by comparing the theoretical predictions obtained from the potentials with experimental results for the second virial coefficient, viscosity, thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion ratios for dilute argon gas, and with spectroscopic data for the dimer, and with SCF calculations of the Ar-Ar potential at small interatomic separations. Our best potential predicts these properties with a precision as good as or better than other recent potentials which generally contain more adjustable parameters and/or involve more input data. The results confirm earlier work that suggested that the scheme tested is capable of yielding reliable isotropic potentials for the interaction of closed shell systems for 0·3 ? R/Rm ? ∞ where Rm is the intermolecular distance at the van der Waals minimum. The scheme appears to offer a method for obtaining reliable potentials while avoiding problems associated with optimizing many parameters with respect to fitting experimental constraints. 相似文献

We constructed a single-stage, laboratory-scale electrostatic precipitator (ESP) and evaluated its physical and microbial collection efficacies. Ground rice husk was examined as a representative model of airborne particles carrying microorganisms (bacteria, molds and yeasts). Physical and microbial collection efficacies were evaluated at different voltages applied to the negative discharge electrode without ozone generation. The best collection efficiencies were observed at an applied voltage of ?6.0 kV, resulting in collection efficiencies of over 90% for the physical sample and 99.95% for bacteria. No molds or yeasts in the ground rice husk passed through the ESP operating at ?6.0 kV applied voltage. 相似文献

We present a design strategy for fluorescence probes with a high off/on activation ratio in the red wavelength region, based on a novel fluorescein analogue in which the O atom at the 10 position of the xanthene chromophore is replaced with a Si atom. The generalized uncertainty relation applicable to quantum and stochastic systems is derived within the stochastic variational method. This relation not only reproduces the well-known inequality in quantum mechanics but also is applicable to the Gross–Pitaevskii equation and the Navier–Stokes–Fourier equation, showing that the finite minimum uncertainty between the position and the momentum is not an inherent property of quantum mechanics but a common feature of stochastic systems. We further discuss the possible implication of the present study in discussing the application of the hydrodynamic picture to microscopic systems, like relativistic heavy-ion collisions. 相似文献
