This paper explores the use of pulsed radio-frequency (RF) techniques to remove the frequency limitations imposed on conventional transverse muon spin rotation (μSR) experiments at a pulsed muon source by the finite muon pulse width. The implementation of the 90° pulse technique is demonstrated by observing the free precession signal of diamagnetic muons implanted in polythene, the change in signal amplitude as a function of RF pulse length is plotted and the precise condition for a 90° pulse determined. The technique is evaluated by comparing measurements made using conventional spin rotation experiments to those employing pulsed RF methods. The potential for applying standard NMR multiple-pulse methods to the μSR experiment is considered and the use of two-pulse RF sequences (90° x ?τ?90° x and 90° x ?τ?180° x ) to form a muon spin echo demonstrated. 相似文献

Molar extinction coefficients of some carbohydrates viz. l-arabinose (C5H10O5), d-glucose (C6H12O6), d-mannose (C6H12O6), d-galactose (C6H12O6), d(-) fructose (C6H12O6) and maltose (C12H24O12) in aqueous solutions have been determined at 81, 356, 511, 662, 1173 and 1332 keV by gamma ray transmission method in a
narrow beam good geometry set-up. These coefficients have been found to depend upon the photon energy following a 4-parameter
polynomial. These extinction coefficients for different sugars having the same molecular formula have same values varying

Muon spin relaxation has been used to study the muon dynamics in the layered zirconium phosphate Zr(H(2)PO(4))(PO(4)).2H(2)O as a function of temperature. Radiofrequency decoupling was used to establish the origin of the local dipolar field as coupling with (1)H spins. Muons were trapped at two sites, one identified as HMuO and the other consistent with PO-Mu on the basis of their zero-field second moments. Although a small decrease in the local nuclear dipolar field was seen with temperature, the muons remained essentially static over the temperature range 20-300 K. 相似文献

The hyperfine spectroscopy of muonium in II–VI semiconductors is reviewed, suggesting that whereas hydrogen is a deep-level
defect in ZnS, ZnSe and ZnTe, it constitutes a shallow donor in ZnO, CdS, CdSe and CdTe. Shallow and deep states coexist in
CdTe. Using new data for ZnO, it is shown that the principal values of the muonium hyperfine tensor may be obtained with equal
facility from measurements in longitudinal or in transverse magnetic field, and from samples that are polycrystalline powders
or single crystals. Spin density on the central muon in the shallow states correlates with the electron binding energy or
donor depth.

Zero, longitudinal and transverse field μSR measurements have been made on LiH, LiD and NaH. The primary motivation for the
study was to elucidate the behaviour of the muons in the diamagnetic state and analysis of the time‐dependent zero field relaxation
data suggests that negatively charged muonium, Mu-, is formed and takes up a H- vacancy site in these materials. Evidence is presented for a small (approximately 2%) reduction in the Mu-–Li distance relative to the unperturbed nearest neighbour anion‐cation distances in the pure crystal lattices.
