微波技术对ECR离子源性能的影响

The coupling between microwave generators and ECR ion sources(ECRIS)is a key point for the design of the new generation ECRIS as well as for the optimization of the existing ones.The electromagnetic characterization of the plasma chamber where the ionization phenomena take place is a fundamental starting point to understand and model such process.In such effort the complex structures of the injection and extraction flanges together with the large dimensions of the chamber and the high frequencies that are typically used make impossible an analytical solution and also create great difficulties in the modelling even with state-of- art electromagnetic simulators(CST,HFSS),In the following paper the results of some numerical calculations for the optimum plasma chamber excitation will be presented along with the experimental measurements carried out with the SERSE ion source at INFN-LNS.A campaign of measurements is also planned to further investigate the microwave coupling and the mode excitation,which determines the efficiency of the ECR plasma heating.     

Bioactive Compounds from Lemon (Citrus limon) Extract Overcome TNF-α-Induced Insulin Resistance in Cultured Adipocytes

The consumption of plant-based food is important for health promotion, especially regarding the prevention and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes. We investigated the effects of a lemon extract (LE), containing ≥20.0% total flavanones and ≥1.0% total hydroxycinnamic acids, on insulin signaling in murine 3T3-L1 adipocytes treated with TNF-α, which was used to mimic in vitro the insulin resistance condition that characterizes diabetes mellitus. Our results showed LE increased PPARγ, GLUT4 and DGAT-1 levels, demonstrating the potential of this lemon extract in the management of insulin resistance conditions associated with TNF-α pathway activation. LE treatment further decreased the release of interleukin 6 (IL-6) and restored triglyceride synthesis, which is the main feature of a healthy adipocyte.

We present some arguments that should induce to re-consider from a new perspective the interference experiments in moving media (Michelson–Morley, Fizeau, …). These considerations are useful to understand and appreciate the experimental test recently proposed by Guerra and de Abreu.     

Higher-order effects and the vector boson physical parameters

A detailed analysis of the higher-order effects of the vector boson masses and leptonic decay rates is presented. Previous results obtained by different authors are discussed and compared within a simple renormalization scheme. The experimental precision required for a meaningful test of the theory at the one-loop level is also discussed.     

Remarkable alkali cation template effect in 1,5-bridged calix[8]arenes

Treatment of 1,5-bridged calix[8]arenes 2-4 with alkali metal carbonates produces salts in which an included cation acts as a conformational template. This induces the folding of calix[8]arene skeleton in a conformation in which the triads of contiguous OH-bearing rings adopt a 3/4-cone conformation with all hydroxyls converging toward the same center. The template effect requires the presence of short bridges (ethylene, tetramethylene, diethylene glycol) and became stronger by increasing the cation dimension up to that of Cs(+).     

Radiative corrections to very high energy electron-proton scattering

A “leading log” analysis of radiative corrections to inclusive ep scattering at HERA energies is presented. Neutral current weak interactions are considered at the level of the Born cross section as well as of the modifications of vertex and vacuum polarization parts. The leading log approximation has been also improved in the single hard and multiple soft photon emission by appropriate kinematical considerations. Some numerical results are presented for polarized electron and positron beams.
