Effective electromagnetic and chiral parameters of chiral composite material

The effective parameters of chiral composite are studied using a simple model, that is, randomly oriented non-interacting wire helices embedded in a nonchiral host medium. It is found that both the effective permittivity and permeability are independent on the handedness of the chiral objects while the effective chirality admittance is dependent. It is also found that when the ratio of the radius of the chiral helix to its pitch is about 0.23, maximum chirality admittance is achieved. The effective parameters of equichiral sample are also discussed.     

Study of spontaneous combustion coals by GC and GC-MS

Organic geochemical characteristics of 3 Chinese spontaneous combustion coals have been carried out by means of GC and GC-MS analysis. It has been observed that more compounds with low to medium carbon number, such as terpenoids and others can be found in spontaneous combustion coals than in normal samples.     

Preparation of multisubstituted allenes from allylsilanes

[reaction: see text] A three-step route of converting allylsilanes to functionalized allenes was developed. Thermal decomposition of 1,1-dibromo-2-(silylmethyl)cyclopropanes, which were quantitatively prepared by treatment of allylsilane derivatives with CHBr3/KO(t)Bu, afforded substituted 2-bromo-1,3-butadienes with elimination of bromosilanes. The Pd-catalyzed reaction of the bromodienes with soft nucleophiles gave the allene derivatives. Previously inaccessible tri- and tetrasubstituted allenes can be prepared by this method as well.

A new catalyst for direct synthesis of dimethyl ether from synthesis gas

A new catalyst has been prepared by coprecipitation sedimentation method developed in our laboratory. It exhibits excellent catalytic activity, selectivity and stability for conversion of synthesis gas to dimethyl ether: conversion of CO 92%, selectivity of dimethyl ether 98%. Catalytic properties of the catalyst show no evident change after being used for 100 h.     

贵金属催化剂用于抽余油加氢精制

研制了一种以铂为主的担载型芳烃抽余油加氢精制催化剂。与传统的Ni-Mo-Al型催化剂相比,上述贵金属催化剂使用温度低(160—185℃),空速高(4—6h~(-1)),寿命长。是一种较为理想的抽余油加氢催化剂。该催化剂已在工业上得到成功应用。     

Effect of Pluronic F127 on the pore structure of macrocellular biodegradable polylactide foams

Thermally induced phase separation technique was utilized to fabricate biodegradable poly(l ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) macrocellular foams which were capable of being applied in tissue engineering. The block copolymer Pluronic F127 composed of (polyethyleneoxide)‐(polypropyleneoxide)‐(polyethyleneoxide) [(PEO)‐(PPO)‐(PEO)] was used as a porogen. Water/dioxane mixtures with different volume ratios were used as solvents. The addition of Pluronic F127 could induce an appearance of large pores (50–200 μm) besides small pores (10–20 μm) or a change from a solid–liquid phase separation to a liquid–liquid phase separation. The role of Pluronic F127 depends on the water/dioxane ratios in the PLLA/dioxane/water system. The X‐ray diffraction patterns and porosity measurement results showed that Pluronic F127 was crystallized and existed on the pore wall. The effect of Pluronic F127 on changing pore structure is attributed to the occurrence of the interaction of the lipophilic PPO blocks in Pluronic F127 with PLLA clews, consequently, this results in PLLA aggregation and early phase separation on cooling. Gear-like array of (H_2O)_(12) as building blocks in one-dimensional supramolecular assembly

The preparation and crystal structure of complex Co(Hsae)_2·2H_2O (1,H_2sae=N-salicylidene-2-iminoethanol) are reported.X- ray analysis revealed that every six Co(Hsae)_2 forms a cyclic chip and every 12 water forms a novel gear-like cluster.Acting as building blocks,the gear-like water cluster and complex chip are connected in A-B fashion and extend into one-dimensional supramolecular chain.Hydrogen bond is the primary bridging force in the formation of supramolecular framework.     

Microwave-assisted deformylation of N-aryl formamide by KF on basic Al2O3

The formyl group was successfully removed from N-aryl formamide by KF on a solid support of basic Al₂O₃ in 4-20 min with microwave irradiation. The conditions mimic base-catalyzed hydrolysis of formamide and are compatible with carbamates and t-butyl esters, but not methyl, ethyl, and benzyl esters.
