Adducts of 1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethane with diamines: three‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonded frameworks formed with 1,6‐diaminohexane and 2,2′‐bipyridyl

The adduct 1,6‐di­amino­hexane–1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxy­phenyl)­ethane (1/2) is a salt {hexane‐1,6‐diyldiammonium–4‐[1,1‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl)ethyl]phenolate (1/2)}, C₆H₁₈N₂²⁺·2C₂₀H₁₇O₃^?, in which the cation lies across a centre of inversion in space group P. The anions are linked by two short O—H?O hydrogen bonds [H?O 1.74 and 1.76 Å, O?O 2.5702 (12) and 2.5855 (12) Å, and O—H?O 168 and 169°] into a chain containing two types of R(24) ring. Each cation is linked to four different anion chains by three N—H?O hydrogen bonds [H?O 1.76–2.06 Å, N?O 2.6749 (14)–2.9159 (14) Å and N—H?O 156–172°]. In the adduct 2,2′‐bipyridyl–1,1,1‐tris(4‐hydroxy­phenyl)­ethane (1/2), C₁₀H₈N₂·2C₂₀H₁₈O₃, the neutral di­amine lies across a centre of inversion in space group P2₁/n. The tris­(phenol) mol­ecules are linked by two O—H?O hydrogen bonds [H?O both 1.90 Å, O?O 2.7303 (14) and 2.7415 (15) Å, and O—H?O 173 and 176°] into sheets built from R(38) rings. Pairs of tris­(phenol) sheets are linked via the di­amine by means of a single O—H?N hydrogen bond [H?N 1.97 Å, O?N 2.7833 (16) Å and O—H?N 163°].     

Superintegrable cases of four-dimensional dynamical systems

Degenerate tri-Hamiltonian structures of the Shivamoggi and generalized Raychaudhuri equations are exhibited. For certain specific values of the parameters, it is shown that hyperchaotic Lü and Qi systems are superintegrable and admit tri-Hamiltonian structures.     

Switch in Catalyst State: Single Bifunctional Bi-state Catalyst for Two Different Reactions

Disclosed here is a molecular switch which responds to acid-base stimuli and serves as a bi-state catalyst for two different reactions. The two states of the switch serve as a highly active and poorly active catalyst for two catalytic reactions (namely a hydrogenation and a dehydrogenative coupling) but in a complementary manner. The system was used in an assisted tandem catalysis set-up involving dehydrogenative coupling of an amine and then hydrogenation of the resulting imine product by switching between the respective states of the catalyst.     

Direct calculation of time varying Aharonov-Bohm effect

The Aharonov-Bohm effect (ABE) for steady magnetic fields is a well known phenomenon. However, if the current in the infinite solenoid that creates the magnetic field is time-dependent, that is in the presence of both magnetic and electric fields, there is no agreement whether the effect would be present. In this note, we try to investigate time varying ABE by a direct calculation in a set-up with a weak time dependent magnetic field. We find that the electric field arising out of the time-varying magnetic field in the path of the electrons does not enter the action integral but only changes the path of the electron from the source to the slits and then on to the detector. We find a frequency dependent AB phase shift. At low frequencies the result smoothly approaches the one for a constant field as the frequency tends towards zero. On the other hand, for high frequencies such that the AB-phase induced in the path of the wave packet oscillates rapidly, the net effect will be very small which is borne out by our results.     

Fluctuation study of pionisation in ultrarelativistic nucleus-nucleus interaction

The scaled factorial moments and the multifractal moments have been investigated in different??-intervals to study the dynamical fluctuation of pions produced in 200 AGeV³²S-Ag/Br interaction. In order to investigate the detail characteristics of intermittency behaviour, theF-moments are extracted up to the eighth order of moments in differentM-intervals. The analysis indicates a non-thermal phase transition and different regime of particle production during the hadronisation process.     

Regioselective Synthesis of Flindersine Analogues

6-Alkylpyrano [3,2-c] quinolin-5(2H)-ones(11a-e) were obtained in excellent yields by simply refluxing propynyl and butymyl ethers (6) of 4-hydroxy-1-alkylquinolin-2H-ones (2) in chlorobenzene for 10h, 5-Prop-2-ynyloxy-2H-pyrano [3,2-c] quinoline (12) was also obtained from the thermal rearrangement of 2,4-bis prop-2-ynyloxyquinoline (4).     

A Simple and Convenient One-Pot Synthesis of Benzimidazole Derivatives Using Cobalt(II) Chloride Hexahydrate as Catalyst

A simple and efficient method for the convenient synthesis of 2-arylbenzimidazole has been described on reaction with o-phenylenediamine and various aromatic aldehydes using cobalt(II) chloride hexahydrate as a catalyst. The method is cost-effective, high-yielding, clean, and selective.     

Synthesis of Trichlorophenol Derivatives

An expedient three‐step procedure for the synthesis of trichlorophenol derivatives based on the acid‐catalyzed rearrangement of the bicyclic ketone precursors 6a–e in high overall yield is described. The bicyclic ketone precursors 6a–e were obtained from Diels–Alder cycloadducts of β‐substituted vinyl acetates with tetrachloro‐5,5‐dimethoxycyclopentadiene in two steps.
