We fabricated a specially designed polymer long-periodwaveguide grating to demonstrate the phenomenon of dual resonance arising from light coupling between the core mode and a low-ordercladding mode of the waveguide. By varying the temperature of the grating, we observed the onset and the evolution of the dual-resonancewavelengths. The separation between the dual-resonancewavelengths was varied by ∼110 nm with a temperature variation of ∼10 °C. The experimental results are explained well by the simulation results. The switching dynamics of short pulses propagating in a two-core optical fiber under the effects of intrapulse stimulated Raman scattering (ISRS) and intermodal dispersion is investigated theoretically. We find that, when the input pulses are short and intense enough, ISRS in general reduces the width of the pulses propagating in the launching core of the fiber and, at the same time, slows down the pulses. However, if the two-core fiber contains sufficient intermodal dispersion, the pulse-narrowing effect of ISRS can be weakened. Using typical fiber parameters, we demonstrate with numerical examples how the interaction of ISRS and intermodal dispersion affects the pulse shape. Availability allocation is required when the manufacturer is obliged to allocate proper availability to various components in order to design an end product to meet specified requirements. This paper proposes a new multi-objective genetic algorithm, namely simulated annealing based multi-objective genetic algorithm (saMOGA), to resolve the availability allocation and optimization problems of a repairable system, specifically a parallel–series system. Compared with a general multi-objective genetic algorithm, the major feature of the saMOGA is that it can accept a poor solution with a small probability in order to enlarge the searching space and avoid the local optimum. The saMOGA aims to determine the optimal decision variables, i.e. failure rates, repair rates, and the number of components in each subsystem, according to multiple objectives, such as system availability, system cost and system net profit. The proposed saMOGA is compared with three other multi-objective genetic algorithms. Computational results showed that the proposed approach could provide higher solution quality and greater computing efficiency.  相似文献

This paper presents an efficient pumping scheme for L-band erbium-doped fiber (EDFA) amplifier to reach high gain and low noise performance in a double-pass configuration. The main L-band amplifier is composed of two sections of EDFs. A 980 nm and a 1480 nm pump lasers are used to pump the first section of EDF bi-directionally. The generated backward C-band amplified spontaneous emission noise from this EDF is used to pump a subsequent un-pumped section of EDF. In the double-pass scheme, a narrow-band fiber Bragg grating at each channel wavelength is used to back-reflect the L-band signal to make it amplified twice by the pair of EDFs. Compared with its conventional counterpart, this new double-pass configuration provides a lower noise figure and a higher gain. The pump conversion efficiency can be improved by more than 50% in a 3-channel demonstration by using the proposed configuration.  相似文献

The transmission characteristics of quasi-periodic multi-layer planar dielectric gratings are systematically investigated by a method that combines the multimode network theory with rigorous mode matching method. This paper addresses chaos anti-synchronization of uncertain unified chaotic systems with dead-zone input nonlinearity. Using the sliding mode control technique and Lyapunov stability theory, a proportional–integral (PI) switching surface is proposed to ensure the stability of the closed-loop error system in sliding mode. Then a sliding mode controller (SMC) is proposed to guarantee the hitting of the switching surface even with uncertainties and the control input containing dead-zone nonlinearity. Some simulation results are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed synchronization scheme.  相似文献

A series of near‐infrared (NIR) electrochromic aromatic poly(aryl ether)s containing N,N,N′,N′‐tetraphenyl‐p‐phenylenediamine (TPPA) moieties in the backbone were prepared from the high‐temperature polycondensation reactions of a biphenol monomer, 2,5‐bis(diphenylamino)hydroquinone, with difluoro compounds. The obtained polymers were readily soluble in many organic solvents and showed useful levels of thermal stability associated with high glass‐transition temperatures (182–205 °C) and high char yields (higher than 40% at 800 °C in nitrogen). The polymer films showed reversible electrochemical oxidation with high contrast ratio both in the visible range and NIR region, and also exhibited high coloration efficiency (CE), low switching time, and stability for electrochromic operation. The polyether TPPA‐a thin film revealed good CE in visible (CE = 217 cm2/C) and NIR (CE = 192 cm2/C) region with reversible electroactive stability (over 500 times within 5% loss relative to its initial injected charge). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Multi‐walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) modified by vinyltriethoxysilane (VTES) via free radical reaction has been prepared (poly (vinyltriethoxysilane) modified MWCNTs, PVTES‐MWCNT). Precursor of polyimide, polyamic acid has been synthesized by reacting 4,4′‐oxydianiline with 3,3′,4,4′‐benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride. PVTES‐MWCNT were then mixed with polyamic acid and heated to 300 °C to form CNT/polyimide composite. During the imidization processes, the silanes on CNT surface reacted with each other and may be connected together by covalent bond (Si? O? Si). The PVTES‐MWCNT was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The PVTES‐MWCNT/polyimide composites were analyzed by CP/MAS solid state 29Si nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Morphological properties of the PVTES‐MWCNT/polyimide composites were investigated by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. Electrical conductivity increased dramatically comparing to the unmodified MWCNT/polyimide composites.
