Percolation and electrical resistivity in the YBa2Cu3O7−Ag composite system

We have measured the resistivity of the YBa₂Cu₃O₇–Ag composite system with Ag volume fraction,p _Ag ranging from 0–100%. The percolation behavior and the normal-state resistivity are studied. We find a three-dimensional threshold for the Ag matrix occurring atp _Ag 20% and a threshold for the superconducting matrix occurring at 1–p _Ag30%. The electrical resistivity is interpreted in terms of a resistivity model for granular YBa₂Cu₃O₇ proposed by Halbritter et al. [Z. Phys. B —Condensed Matter71, 411 (1988)]. Based on this model, we show that the resistivities between the YBa₂Cu₃O₇ grains and flaws in the grains are greatly diminished in the samples, indicating significantly improved grain growth behavior of the YBa₂Cu₃O₇ phase resulting from the addition of Ag. With the diminishing of the grain boundary resistivities, an intrinsic value for the temperature coefficient of resistivity, (1/gr)(d/dT), can be inferred, which is 3.3×10^–3/K at 300 K. This value is very close to that observed in the Cu–O₂ planes in single crystals and epitaxial films of YBa₂Cu₃O₇.     

Optimal intensity control of a multi-class queue

We study a mixed problem of optimal scheduling and input and output control of a single server queue with multi-classes of customers. The model extends the classical optimal scheduling problem by allowing the general point processes as the arrival and departure processes and the control of the arrival and departure intensities. The objective of our scheduling and control problem is to minimize the expected discounted inventory cost over an infinite horizon, and the problem is formulated as an intensity control. Strong approximation of Riesz means at critical index on Hp(T) (0<p≤1)

This paper is a continuation of [3]. Suppose f∈H^p(T), 0σ _r ^σ f,σ=1/p?1. When p=1, it is just the partial Fourier sums S_kf. On N-widths in Ip

In this paper we prove that (1<p<+∞), give the characteristics of x^o and the optimal subspace for n-width d_n in space X=l _n ^N . Where d_n in the n-width, in the sense of Kolmogorov, ofD in X, dⁿ is the n-width ofD with respect to X, in the sense of Gel'fand, δ is the linear n-width ofD with respect to X.     

On the factor-thickness of regular graphs

For eachr-regular graphG, define a binary sequence(G) = ( ₁, ₂,..., _r-1) by _k = 0 ifG has ak-factor, and _k = 1 otherwise. A binary sequence = ( _i |i = 1, 2,...,r – 1) is said to be realizable if there exists anr-regular graphG such that(G) = . In this paper we characterize all binary sequences which are realizable.     

The asymptotic properties of the multichannel autoregressive spectral estimates

If we fit a-vector stationary time series using observationsx(1), ...,x(T) with AR models , then the spectral densityf() of {x(t)} can be estimated byf _k ^(T) ()=(2)^– A _k ^(T) (e ^–)^–1 _k ^(T) A _k ^(T) (e ^–i)^–, where are estimates of the variance matrix of(t), the residuals of the best linear prediction. By extending some results for the scalar case, this paper treats the asymptotic properties of the estimates in the multichannel case.     

Polarization density matrix forZ decay intoWff' with generalZWW couplings

We give the polarization density matrix ofZ andW for the decay processZ ⁰→Wff' with generalZWW couplings. The matrix elements are expressed in terms of kinematical invariants so that they can be readily used in \(p\bar p \to Z^0 W\) as well. Using these formulas, we analyze the possibilities of probing theZWW couplings through the decay of polarizedZ ⁰.
