BV periodic solutions of an evolution problem associated with continuous moving convex sets

This paper is concerned with BV periodic solutions for multivalued perturbations of an evolution equation governed by the sweeping process (or Moreau's process). The perturbed equation has the form –DuN _C (t)(u(t))+F(t,u(t)), whereC is a closed convex valued continuousT-periodic multifunction from [0,T] to ^d ,N ^C (t)(u(t)) is the normal cone ofC(t) atu(t),F: [0,T]× ^{d d} is a compact convex valued multifunction and Du is the differential measure of the periodic BV solutionu. Several existence results for this differential inclusion are stated under various assumptions on the perturbationF.     

A rapid and simple method for the isolation of mutant variants regulating tissue-specific expression of the tni gene through drug selection

TnINEO fusion gene was constructed by fusing 3.4-kbp of quailTnI genomic DNA sequences spanning the promoter to exon 5 and aneo gene in frame. A myoblast cell line was established after transfection of pTnINEO. Since this cell line was passaged several times, a high frequency of neomycin (G418) sensitivity conversion was detected. Two drug-resistant variants were analyzed through genomic Southern blot and S1 nuclease protection assay. One variant has a mutation(s) in the regulatory element that activated the dormantTnI promoter-enhancer in myoblast, and the other has shown the genomic rearrangement. This result presented the possibility of isolating factor(s) that activate the muscle-specificTnI promoter simply by screening drug-resistant cells having appropriate mutations.

An ab initio molecular orbital study of the grignard reagents CH3MgCl and [CH3MgCl]2: The Schlenk equilibrium

Ab initio molecular orbital calculations are used to study the modified Schlenk equilibrium: 2RMgCl (RMgCl)² MgR₂ + MgCl₂ Mg(Cl₂)MgR₂ with R=H and CH₃. In the absence of any solvents, calculations indicate that the formation of the various possible bridged dimers (RMgCl)₂ is substantially exothermic. However, using dimethylether as a model solvent, we show that the formation of the dimer (Me₂O)(CH₃)Mg(Cl₂)Mg(CH₃)(OMe₂) is exothermic only when entropic effects are included.     

On a theorem about projectivities

The main result of this paper is a theorem about projectivities in then-dimensional complex projective spaceP ⁿ (n 2). Puttingn = 2, we showed in [3] that the theorem of Desargues inP ⁿ is a special case of this theorem. And not only the theorem of Desargues but also the converse of the theorem of Pascal, the theorem of Pappus-Pascal, the theorem of Miquel, the Newton line, the Brocard points and a lot of lesser known results in the projective, the affine and the Euchdean plane were obtained from this theorem as special cases without any further proof. Many extensions of classical theorems in the projective, affine and Euclidean plane to higher dimensions can be found in the literature and probably some of these are special cases of this theorem inP ⁿ. We only give a few examples and leave it as an open problem which other special cases could be found.
