Plasticity field adjacent to faces of asperities on a rotating roll after initial indentation into a half-space

The plastic deformation field near the horizontal surface of a half space of perfectly plastic material associated with an indenting rotating rigid tooth is studied using slip line theory. The tooth is one of many on a roll surface and indents first into the half-space material and then rotates about the roll center. A slip line field is proposed for the deforming plastic region and a solution scheme is outlined. The emphasis is on determining the shape of the deforming region, especially that of the free surface. The study has a potential application in roughness transfer in metal forming processing.     

Multi-cracks problem for piezoelectric materials strip subjected to dynamic loading

This paper analyses and models the dynamic interaction among permeable multi-cracks in a piezoelectric strip under anti-plane shear waves by the Schmidt method. The Fourier transform is applied and then two pairs of triple integral equations can be solved using the Schmidt method. The results show that the stress and the electric displacement intensity factors of cracks depend on not only the crack length and the piezoelectric coefficient, but also the thickness of the piezoelectric strip, the distance between multi-cracks and the frequency of incident wave.     

Estimation of potential gains from bank mergers: A novel two-stage cost efficiency DEA model

This paper develops a novel two-stage cost efficiency model to estimate and decompose the potential gains from Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As). In this model, a hypothetical DMU is defined as a combination of two or more candidate DMUs. The hypothetical DMU would surpass the traditional Production Possibility Set (PPS). In order to solve the problem, a Merger Production Possibility Set (PPS_M) is constructed. The model minimizes the total cost of the hypothetical DMU while maintaining its outputs at the current level, and estimates the overall merger efficiency by comparing its minimal total cost with its actual cost. Moreover, the overall merger efficiency could be decomposed into technical efficiency, harmony efficiency, and scale efficiency. We show that the model can be extended to a two-stage structure and these efficiencies can be decomposed to both sub-systems. To show the usefulness of the proposed approach, we applied it to a real dataset of top 20 most competitive Chinese City Commercial Banks (CCBs). We concluded that (1) there exist considerably potential gains for the proposed merged banks. (2) It is also shown that the main impact on potential merger gains are from technical and harmony efficiency. (3) As an interesting result we found that the scale effect works against the merger, indicating that it is not favorable for a full-scale merger.     

Asymptotic nonlinear stability of a composite wave of two traveling waves to a chemotaxis model

In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic stability of a composite wave consisting of two traveling waves to a Keller–Segel chemotaxis model with logarithmic sensitivity and nonzero chemical diffusion. We show that the composite wave is asymptotically stable under general initial perturbation, which only be needed small in H¹‐norm. This improves previous results. High‐order compact schemes for fractional differential equations with mixed derivatives

In this article, we consider two‐dimensional fractional subdiffusion equations with mixed derivatives. A high‐order compact scheme is proposed to solve the problem. We establish a sufficient condition and show that the scheme converges with fourth order in space and second order in time under this condition.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The graph structure of a deterministic automaton chosen at random

An n‐state deterministic finite automaton over a k‐letter alphabet can be seen as a digraph with n vertices which all have k labeled out‐arcs. Grusho (Publ Math Inst Hungarian Acad Sci 5 (1960), 17–61). proved that whp in a random k‐out digraph there is a strongly connected component of linear size, i.e., a giant, and derived a central limit theorem. We show that whp the part outside the giant contains at most a few short cycles and mostly consists of tree‐like structures, and present a new proof of Grusho's theorem. We investigate the compatibility of \(I_0\) with various combinatorial principles at \(\lambda ^+\), which include the existence of \(\lambda ^+\)-Aronszajn trees, square principles at \(\lambda \), the existence of good scales at \(\lambda \), stationary reflections for subsets of \(\lambda ^{+}\), diamond principles at \(\lambda \) and the singular cardinal hypothesis at \(\lambda \). We also discuss whether these principles can hold in \(L(V_{\lambda +1})\).     

一类新的(2n-1)点二重动态逼近细分

利用正弦函数构造了一类新的带有形状参数ω的(2n-1)点二重动态逼近细分格式.从理论上分析了随n值变化时这类细分格式的C~k连续性和支集长度;算法的一个特色是随着细分格式中参数ω的取值不同,相应生成的极限曲线的表现张力也有所不同,而且这一类算法所对应的静态算法涵盖了Chaikin,Hormann,Dyn,Daniel和Hassan的算法.文末附出大量数值实例,在给定相同的初始控制顶点,且极限曲线达到同一连续性的前提下和现有几种算法做了比较,数值实例表明这类算法生成的极限曲线更加饱满,表现力更强.     

Compactness of the Commutators of Fractional Hardy Operator with Rough Kernel

The more explicit decomposition of the operator and the kernel are utilized to investigate a characterization of the central $BMO(\mathbb{R}^{n})$-closure of $C_{c}^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^{n})$ space via the compactness of the commutators of fractional Hardy operator with rough kernel.
