We report measurements of single-particle inclusive spectra and two-particle azimuthal distributions of charged hadrons at high transverse momentum (high p(T)) in minimum bias and central d+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV. The inclusive yield is enhanced in d+Au collisions relative to binary-scaled p+p collisions, while the two-particle azimuthal distributions are very similar to those observed in p+p collisions. These results demonstrate that the strong suppression of the inclusive yield and back-to-back correlations at high p(T) previously observed in central Au+Au collisions are due to final-state interactions with the dense medium generated in such collisions.  相似文献

The double ionization of argon and xenon in an intense laser field has been studied in detail using an electron-ion coincidence technique. The observed double ionization electron spectra in xenon show resonancelike structures here resolved for the first time. In argon, the featureless spectra are consistent with rescattering. This represents a clear transition in the dynamics of strong-field double ionization, analogous to the well-known transition between the tunneling and multiphoton regimes in single ionization.  相似文献

Azimuthal anisotropy (v(2)) and two-particle angular correlations of high p(T) charged hadrons have been measured in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=130 GeV for transverse momenta up to 6 GeV/c, where hard processes are expected to contribute significantly. The two-particle angular correlations exhibit elliptic flow and a structure suggestive of fragmentation of high p(T) partons. The monotonic rise of v(2)(p(T)) for p(T)<2 GeV/c is consistent with collective hydrodynamical flow calculations. At p(T)>3 GeV/c, a saturation of v(2) is observed which persists up to p(T)=6 GeV/c.  相似文献

Selected polymers (polyethylene‐PE, polypropylene‐PP, polytetrafluoroethylene‐PTFE, polystyrene‐PS and polyethylenterephthalate‐PET) were irradiated with the linearly polarized light of a pulsed 157 nm F2 laser. The irradiation results in degradation of polymers and ablation of polymer surfaces. Contact angle, measured by goniometry, was studied as a function of the number of laser pulses. The volume of the ablated polymer layer was determined by gravimetry. Changes in surface morphology and roughness were observed using atomic force microscopy. Surface chemistry of the samples was investigated by electrokinetic analysis and by XPS. While PET and PE exhibit small ablation, the ablation of PS and PTFE is more significant, and the most pronounced ablation is observed on PP. Contact angle of all polymers, with the only exception of PP, is a decreasing function of the number of laser pulses up to 2000 pulses. Laser irradiation leads to a refinement of the polymer surface morphology and a decrease of their surface roughness. We report the measurements of Sigma(1385) and Lambda(1520) production in p+p and Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s{NN}]=200 GeV from the STAR Collaboration. The yields and the p(T) spectra are presented and discussed in terms of chemical and thermal freeze-out conditions and compared to model predictions. Thermal and microscopic models do not adequately describe the yields of all the resonances produced in central Au+Au collisions. Our results indicate that there may be a time span between chemical and thermal freeze-out during which elastic hadronic interactions occur.  相似文献

We report new STAR measurements of midrapidity yields for the Λ, Λ[over ˉ], K(S)(0), Ξ(-), Ξ[over ˉ](+), Ω(-), Ω[over ˉ](+) particles in Cu+Cu collisions at √S(NN)==200 GeV, and midrapidity yields for the Λ, Λ[over ˉ], K(S)(0) particles in Au+Au at √S(NN)==200 GeV. We show that, at a given number of participating nucleons, the production of strange hadrons is higher in Cu+Cu collisions than in Au+Au collisions at the same center-of-mass energy. We find that aspects of the enhancement factors for all particles can be described by a parametrization based on the fraction of participants that undergo multiple collisions.  相似文献
