Studies of large scale unstable growth formed during GaAs(001) homoepitaxy

Atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopy studies have been performed on GaAs(001) films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. Multilayered mounds are seen to evolve when the growth conditions favor island nucleation. As the epilayer thickness is increased, these features grow in all dimensions but the angle of inclination remains approximately constant at 1°. The mounding does not occur on surfaces grown in step-flow. We propose that the multi-layered features are due to an unstable growth mode which relies on island nucleation and the presence of a step edge barrier.     

A simple four-node quadrilateral finite element for plates

A simple and accurate four-node quadrilateral finite element based on the Mindlin plate theory and Kirchhoff constraints is presented for general thin plate bending applications. The derivation of the element stiffness properties is straightforward, starting with a specified eight-node interpolation; usual discrete Kirchhoff (DK) constraints are employed to constrain out the four midside nodes of the element. The present resulting DK element passes patch tests with elements of arbitrary and even highly distorted mesh types. Numerical studies of the element convergence behaviours are undertaken for various plate bending problems so far investigated. It is indicated from comparative examples that fairly good convergence characteristics have been achieved.     

Synthesis and studies of antibacterial activity of pongaglabol

Pongaglabol [8-hydroxy-5-phenyl-furo[2,3-h]benzo(b)pyran-7-one] was synthesized and tested for antibacterial effects againstShigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, Streptococcus β-haemolyticus andStaphylococcus aureus. 利用电泳技术在不锈钢和铁基底上制备MgB2带材

本文首次报道了利用电泳技术在铁和不锈钢基底上制备MgB2超导带材.电阻测量表明,沉积在铁和不锈钢基底上MgB2带材的超导零电阻转变温度分别为37.5K和31K,超导转变宽度分别为0.3K和1K.磁测量表明,(5K,OT)时不锈钢基底上带材的临界电流密度为6×105(A/cm2).X射线衍射谱和扫描电子显微镜图象表明样品结晶良好,晶粒生长致密.本工艺制备MgB2带材时不受系统真空度的限制,生长迅速,成本低廉,并且可以根据不同的需要任意选择基底的形状和大小.     

Kinetics and mechanism of polymerization of methyl methacrylate initiated by stibonium ylide

Homopolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out in the presence of triphenylstibonium 1,2,3,4-tetraphenyl-cyclopentadienylide as an initiator in dioxane at 65°C±0·l°C. The system follows non-ideal radical kinetics (R _p ∝ [M]^1·4 [I]^0·44 @#@) due to primary radical termination as well as degradative chain-transfer reaction. The overall activation energy and average value ofk ₂ ^p /k _t were 64 kJmol⁻¹ and 0.173 × 10⁻³ 1 mol⁻¹ s⁻¹ respectively
