We report here on a preliminary investigation of ganglioside composition and structure in human hemangioma, a benign tumor in the frontal cortex (HFC) in comparison to normal frontal cortex (NFC) tissue using for the first time advanced mass spectrometric methods based on fully automated chip-nanoelectrospray (nanoESI) high-capacity ion trap (HCT) and collision-induced dissociation (CID). The high ionization efficiency, sensitivity and reproducibility provided by the chip-nanoESI approach allowed for a reliable MS-based ganglioside comparative assay. Unlike NFC, ganglioside mixture extracted from HFC was found dominated by species of short glycan chains exhibiting lower overall sialic acid content. In HFC, only GT1 (d18:1/20:0), and GT3 (d18:1/25:1) polysialylated species were detected. Interestingly, none of these trisialylated forms was detected in NFC, suggesting that such components might selectively be associated with HFC. Unlike the case of previously investigated high malignancy gliosarcoma, in HFC one modified O-Ac-GD2 and one modified O-Ac-GM4 gangliosides were observed. This aspect suggests that these O-acetylated structures could be associated with cerebral tumors having reduced malignancy grade. Fragmentation analysis by CID in MS2 mode using as precursors the ions corresponding to GT1 (d18:1/20:0) and GD1 (d18:1/20:0) provided data corroborating for the first time the presence of the common GT1a and GT1b isomers and the incidence of unusual GT1c and GT1d glycoforms in brain hemangioma tumor.   相似文献

A CE protocol was developed for the identification and separation of inorganic polysulfides simultaneously with other inorganic sulfur-bearing species coexisting in aqueous hydrosulfide/sulfur solutions. The electrophoretic separation of thiosulfate, sulfate, hydrosulfide, sulfite, tetrathionate, and polysulfides was achieved at pH values between 8.2 and 12.2. The peaks attributed to the polysulfide species were strongly sensitive to pH. CE analysis of hydrosulfide/sulfur solutions at different pH values permitted possible identification of two forms of polysulfides: S4(2-) and S3(2-). Upon exposure to air at ambient temperature, thiosulfate was the main oxidation product of hydrosulfide/sulfur solutions mainly in the first 60 min, when hydrosulfide was rapidly consumed. Analysis of the oxidation reaction products provided retrospectively tentative evidence that the peaks separated and identified as tri- and tetrasulfide may be ascribed to polysulfides.  相似文献

We report first-principles calculations of the effects of quasiparticle self-energy and electron-hole interaction on the optical properties of single-walled boron nitride nanotubes. Excitonic effects are shown to be even more important in BN nanotubes than in carbon nanotubes. Electron-hole interactions give rise to complexes of bright (and dark) excitons, which qualitatively alter the optical response. Excitons with a binding energy larger than 2 eV are found in the BN nanotubes. Moreover, unlike the carbon nanotubes, theory predicts that these exciton states are comprised of coherent supposition of transitions from several different subband pairs, giving rise to novel behaviors.  相似文献

A capillary electrophoretic protocol for the separation and quantification of the most important species potentially liberated during the cyanidation of gold sulfide‐rich ores was accomplished in this study. The separation of 11 ions: S2O32–, Cu(CN)32–, Fe(CN)64–, Fe(CN)63–, SCN, Au(CN)2, Ag(CN)2, SO42–, OCN, SO32–, and HS was achieved using an indirect UV detection method. The robustness of the analytical protocol was tested by analyzing ions speciation during the cyanidation of two gold sulfide‐rich ores. The 1‐h cyanidation of the two ores released up to six complexes into solution: S2O32–, Cu(CN)32–, SCN, Fe(CN)64–, OCN, and SO42–. The mineralogy of the ore was found to influence directly the nature and the amount of the dissolved species. Conserving the cyanidation solution for 72 h after sampling resulted in 96% total sulfur recovery. These results allow us to conclude that the analytical protocol developed in this study can become very useful for the optimization of precious‐metals cyanidation plants.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the band gap of semiconducting single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is calculated by direct evaluation of electron-phonon couplings within a "frozen-phonon" scheme. An interesting diameter and chirality dependence of E(g)(T) is obtained, including nonmonotonic behavior for certain tubes and distinct "family" behavior. These results are traced to a strong and complex coupling between band-edge states and the lowest-energy optical phonon modes in SWNTs. The E(g)(T) curves are modeled by an analytic function with diameter- and chirality-dependent parameters; these provide a valuable guide for systematic estimates of E(g)(T) for any given SWNT. The magnitudes of the temperature shifts at 300 K are smaller than 12 meV and should not affect (n,m) assignments based on optical measurements.  相似文献

Sensitive amperometric biosensors for phenols compounds, based on tyrosinase (polyphenoloxidase, PPO) immobilized on a Pt electrode in an electropolymerized poly-amphiphilic pyrrole matrix or cross-linked with glutaraldehyde, were constructed and compared. Steady-state amperometric measurements, performed at -50 mV vs. SCE in aqueous phosphate buffer containing LiClO(4) 0.1 M (pH 7) as well as in a chloroform solution containing 0.1 M C(6)H(5)CH(2)N(CH(3))(3)Cl, were used in order to compare the electroanalytical and kinetic parameters of the investigated amperometric biosensors in aqueous and nonaqueous media. It was established that the polypyrrole matrix has a higher efficiency for enzyme retention resulting in higher bioelectrode sensitivity, both in aqueous buffer (690 microA M(-1)) and in chloroform (149 microA M(-1)).  相似文献

Off-axis final states of cylindrically bounded 2D fluids can develop from initially unstable, but cylindrically symmetric, 2D vorticity distributions. Experiments with electrons in a Malmberg-Penning trap, as well as 2D fluid simulations, demonstrated that such states result when the initial vorticity distribution is close to the boundary, while less extended distributions lead to on-axis states. A simple thermodynamic model, maximizing the entropy of a state consisting of a diffuse background surrounding a strong coherent vortex, is shown to quantitatively predict this bifurcation, while conserving circulation, angular momentum, and energy.  相似文献
