PtRh/C (90:10), PtRh/C (50:50), PtSn/C (50:50), and PtSnRh/C (50:40:10) electrocatalysts were prepared by an alcohol-reduction
process using ethylene glycol as solvent and reduction agent and Vulcan Carbon XC72 as supports. The electrocatalysts were
characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction, and transmission electron microscopy. The electro-oxidation
of ethanol was studied by cyclic voltammetry chronoamperometry at room temperature and on a single cell of a direct ethanol
fuel cell at 100 °C. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry experiments showed that PtSnRh/C and PtSn/C electrocatalysts
have similar performance for ethanol oxidation at room temperature, while the activity of PtRh/C electrocatalysts was very
low. At 100 °C on a single cell, PtSnRh/C showed superior performance compared to PtSn/C and PtRh/C electrocatalysts. 相似文献

Variable chain length di-urethane cross-linked poly(oxyethylene) (POE)/siloxane hybrid networks were prepared by application
of a sol-gel strategy. These materials, designated as di-urethanesils (represented as d-Ut(Y′), where Y′ indicates the average
molecular weight of the polymer segment), were doped with lithium triflate (LiCF3SO3). The two host hybrid matrices used, d-Ut(300) and d-Ut(600), incorporate POE chains with approximately 6 and 13 (OCH2CH2) repeat units, respectively. All the samples studied, with compositions ∞ > n ≥ 1 (where n is the molar ratio of (OCH2CH2) repeat units per Li+), are entirely amorphous. The di-urethanesils are thermally stable up to at least 200 °C. At room temperature the conductivity
maxima of the d-Ut(300)- and d-Ut(600)-based di-urethanesil families are located at n = 1 (approximately 2.0 × 10−6 and 7.4 × 10−5 Scm−1, respectively). At about 100 °C, both these samples also exhibit the highest conductivity of the two electrolyte systems

In this contribution we describe and discuss a series of challenges and questions relating to understanding extreme wave phenomena in optics. Many aspects of these questions are being studied in the framework of the MANUREVA project: a multidisciplinary consortium aiming to carry out mathematical, numerical and experimental studies in this field. The central motivation of this work is the 2007 results from optical physics [D. Solli et al., Nature 450, 1054 (2007)] that showed how a fibre-optical system can generate large amplitude extreme wave events with similar statistical properties to the infamous hydrodynamic rogue waves on the surface of the ocean. We review our recent work in this area, and discuss how this observation may open the possibility for an optical system to be used to directly study both the dynamics and statistics of extreme-value processes, a potential advance comparable to the introduction of optical systems to study chaos in the 1970s. 相似文献

SCHENBERG is a resonant-mass gravitational wave detector built in Brazil. Its spherical antenna, weighting 1.15 t, is connected to the outside world by a suspension system whose main function is to attenuate the external seismic noise. In this work, we report how the system was modeled using finite elements method. The model was validated on experimental data. The simulation showed that the attenuation obtained is of the order of 260 dB, which is sufficient for decreasing the seismic noise below the level of the thermal noise of the detector operating at 50 mK. 相似文献

In a two-fluid system where the lower fluid is bounded below by a rigid bottom and the upper fluid is bounded above by a free surface, two kinds of solitary waves can propagate along the interface and the free surface: classical solitary waves characterized by a solitary pulse or generalized solitary waves with nondecaying oscillations in their tails in addition to the solitary pulse. The classical solitary waves move faster than the generalized solitary waves. The origin of the nonlocal solitary waves can be understood from a physical point of view. The dispersion relation for the above system shows that short waves can propagate at the same speed as a “slow” solitary wave. The interaction between the solitary wave and the short waves creates a nonlocal solitary wave. In this paper, the interfacial-wave problem is reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations by using a classical perturbation method, which takes into consideration the possible resonance between short waves and “slow” solitary waves. In the past, classical Korteweg–de Vries type models have been derived but cannot deal with the resonance. All solutions of the new system of model equations, including classical as well as generalized solitary waves, are constructed. The domain of validity of the model is discussed as well. It is also shown that fronts connecting two conjugate states cannot occur for “fast” waves. For “slow” waves, fronts exist but they have ripples in their tails. 相似文献
