A search for double β decay of dysprosium was realized for the first time with the help of an ultra-low background HP Ge γ detector. After 2512 h of data taking with a 322 g sample of dysprosium oxide limits on double beta processes in 156Dy and 158Dy have been established on the level of T1/2?10141016 yrT1/2?10141016 yr. Possible resonant double electron captures in 156Dy and 158Dy were restricted on a similar level. As a by-product of the experiment we have measured the radioactive contamination of the Dy2O3 sample and set limits on the α   decay of dysprosium isotopes to the excited levels of daughter nuclei as T1/2?10151017 yrT1/2?10151017 yr.  相似文献

The lifetime of the recently discovered six-quasiparticle (6-qp) isomer in 140Nd has been measured using the 126Te(18O, 4n) reaction and the pulsed-beam technique at the Institut de Physique Nucléaire (IPN) Orsay. The deduced lifetime of the 6-qp isomer in 140Nd of 1.23(7)μs supports the 20+ spin-parity assignment to the isomeric state which is based on a spherical configuration that coexists with the triaxial bands observed in this spin range. Evidence for delayed components for the transitions below the 19/2+ state in 139Nd was observed, with an apparent half-life of 272(4)ns.  相似文献

We construct the non-linear realized Lagrangian for the Goldstone bosons associated to the breaking pattern of SU(4) to SO(4). This pattern is expected to occur in any Technicolor extension of the standard model featuring two Dirac fermions transforming according to real representations of the underlying gauge group. We concentrate on the Minimal Walking Technicolor quantum number assignments with respect to the standard model symmetries. We demonstrate that for, any choice of the quantum numbers, consistent with gauge and Witten anomalies the spectrum of the pseudo Goldstone Bosons contains electrically doubly charged states which can be discovered at the Large Hadron Collider.  相似文献

The resonance excitation of the 7Li nuclei in a LiF crystal with mass of 553 g by hypothetical axions emitted in the deexcitation of the 7Li nuclei in the Sun was searched for deep underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratories (LNGS) of INFN (3600 m w.e.). The data collected with a low background HP Ge detector 244 cm3 during 4044h have allowed us to set the limit on the axion mass: ma<8.6 keVma<8.6 keV (90% C.L.) which is the best one for the 7Li solar axions to-date.  相似文献

A search for double- $ \beta$ processes in 190Pt and 198Pt was realized with the help of ultra-low background HP Ge 468cm^3 $ \gamma$ spectrometer in the underground Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the INFN (Italy). After 1815 h of data taking with 42.5g platinum sample, T 1/2 limits on 2 $ \beta$ processes in 190Pt ( $ \varepsilon$ $ \beta^{+}_{}$ and 2 $ \varepsilon$ have been established on the level of 1014-1016y, 3 to 4 orders of magnitude higher than those known previously. In particular, a possible resonant double-electron capture in 190Pt was restricted on the level of 2.9×1016 y at 90% C.L. In addition, T 1/2 limit on 2 $ \beta^{-}_{}$ decay of 198Pt (2 $ \nu$ +0 $ \nu$ ) to the 2+ 1 excited level of 198Hg has been set at the first time: T 1/2 > 3.5×1018 y. The radiopurity level of the used platinum sample is reported.  相似文献

First results from DAMA/LIBRA and the combined results with DAMA/NaI   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The highly radiopure ≃ 250 kg NaI(Tl) DAMA/LIBRA set-up is running at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the INFN. In this paper the first result obtained by exploiting the model independent annual modulation signature for Dark Matter (DM) particles is presented. It refers to an exposure of 0.53 ton×yr. The collected DAMA/LIBRA data satisfy all the many peculiarities of the DM annual modulation signature. Neither systematic effects nor side reactions able to account for the observed modulation amplitude and to contemporaneously satisfy all the several requirements of this DM signature are available. Considering the former DAMA/NaI and the present DAMA/LIBRA data all together (total exposure 0.82 ton×yr), the presence of Dark Matter particles in the galactic halo is supported, on the basis of the DM annual modulation signature, at 8.2 σ C.L.; in particular, in the energy interval (2–6) keV, the modulation amplitude is (0.0131±0.0016) cpd/kg/keV and the phase and the period are well compatible with June 2 nd and one year, respectively.  相似文献

We study how a local air plasma treatment affects the mechanical properties of polystyrene by performing indentation measurements on the polymer in the elastic and plastic regime. The local exposure to plasma was obtained by placing a shadow-mask with quadratic holes of 45 x 45 microm(2) on top of the polymer substrate, providing uncovered (exposed to the plasma) and covered (protected from the plasma) areas. We have analyzed quantitatively the topography and the elastic-plastic properties of such a sample with atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements, both before and after plasma treatment. To enhance the differences between covered and uncovered areas, the sample has been exposed to solvent vapor. This generates regions which are differently swollen. The quantitative investigation of the mechanical properties of the swollen sample for different solvent exposure times gives further insight into the changes of polystyrene mechanical properties caused by the plasma.  相似文献
