Synthesis of 4-Substituted-1,2-Dihydroquinolines by Means of Gold-Catalyzed Intramolecular Hydroarylation Reaction of N-Ethoxycarbonyl-N-Propargylanilines

An alternative Au(I)-catalyzed synthetic route to functionalized 1,2-dihydroquinolines is reported. This novel approach is based on the use of N-ethoxycarbonyl protected-N-propargylanilines as building blocks that rapidly undergo the IMHA reaction affording the 6-endo cyclization product in good to high yields. In the presence of N-ethoxycarbonyl-N-propargyl-meta-substituted anilines, the regiodivergent cyclization at the ortho-/para-position is achieved by the means of catalyst fine tuning.     

First symmetry tests in polarized Z0 decays to bbg

We have made the first direct symmetry tests in the decays of polarized Z0 bosons into fully identified bbg states, collected in the SLD experiment at SLAC. We searched for evidence of parity violation at the bbg vertex by studying the asymmetries in the b-quark polar- and azimuthal-angle distributions, and for evidence of T-odd, CP-even or CP-odd, final-state interactions by measuring angular correlations between the three-jet plane and the Z0 polarization. We found results consistent with standard model expectations and set 95% C. limits on anomalous contributions.     

Baryon pairs production ine + e − annihilation at\sqrt s = 2.4 GeV

Search for baryon pairs production ine ⁺ e ^? annihilation at \(\sqrt s = 2386 MeV\) is reported. The data relate to a luminosity of 161 nb^?1 collected by the DM2 experiment at DCI, the Orsay colliding ring. First measurements of directe ⁺ e ^? annihilation into \(\Lambda \bar \Lambda \) and ofe ⁺ e ^?→ \(p\bar p\) at this energy are presented. First observation of a goode ⁺ e ^?→ \(n\bar n\) candidate is reported and upper limits are given fore ⁺ e ^?→ \(n\bar n, \Lambda \bar \sum ^0 + c.c.\) and \(\Sigma ^0 \bar \Sigma ^0 \) .     

ηπ+ π- resonant structure around 1.8 GeV/c(2) and η(1405) in J/ψ → ωηπ+ π-

We present results of a study of the decay J/ψ → ωηπ+ π- using a sample of (225.2 ± 2.8) × 10(6) J/ψ events collected by the BESIII detector, and report the observation of a new process J/ψ → ωX(1870) with a statistical significance of 7.2σ, in which X(1870) decays to a(0)(±)(980)π±. Fitting to ηπ+ π- mass spectrum yields a mass M = 1877.3 ± 6.3(stat)(-7.4)(+3.4)(syst) MeV/c(2), a width Γ = 57 ± 12(stat)(-4)(+19)(syst) MeV/c(2), and a product branching fraction B(J/ψ → ωX) × B(X→a(0)(±)(980)π±) × B(a(0) (±)(980) → ηπ±) = [1.50 ± 0.26(stat)(-0.36)(+0.72) (syst)] × 10(-4). Signals for J/ψ → ωf(1)(1285) and J/ψ → ω η(1405) are also clearly observed and measured.     

Photoionization of highly charged ions using an ECR ion source and undulator radiation

Photoionization of Xe4+ to Xe7+ ions was studied by combining an electron cyclotron resonance ion source with synchrotron radiation. Multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock calculations were performed to interpret the data. Many autoionization lines were measured and identified, resulting from excitation of a 4d electron into nf and np orbitals followed by Auger decay of the excited states. Continuum photoionization is negligible for the higher members of the isonuclear series.     

Observation of an isoscalar vector meson at ≃1650 MeV/c2 in thee^ + e^ - \to K\bar K\pi Equation>reaction

The \(e^ + e^ - \to K_s^0 K^ \pm \pi ^ \mp \) andK ⁺ K ^?π⁰ cross sections have been measured in the energy interval \(1350 \leqq \sqrt s \leqq 2400\) with the DM2 detector at DCI. The \(K_s^0 K^ \pm \pi ^ \mp \) cross section shows the contribution of an isoscalar vector meson at ≈1650 MeV/c² in agreement with a previous experiment. The low statisticsK ⁺ K ^?π⁰ measurement is consistent with the above result.     

Measurement of thee + e −→π + π − π 0 ande + e −→ωπ + π − reactions in the energy interval 1350–2400 MeV

The cross sections fore ⁺ e ^?→π ⁺ π ^? π ⁰ ande ⁺ e ^?→ωπ ⁺ π ^? have been measured in the 1.35 ≦ \(\sqrt s \) ≦2.4 GeV range from 1900 nb^?1 collected by DM2 at DCI. The second process proceeds via a resonant state at ≈- 1660 MeV/c², ≈- 280 MeV/c² wide. The first one is larger than a VDM extrapolation from the ω-? peaks and, although does not show any clear structure, is compatible with the presence of the above resonance.     

Covalently assembled resorcin[4]arenes and molecular tweezers: a chiral recognition rationale by NMR

Chiral diamides and tetramidic resorcin[4]arenes deriving from (R,R)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane and (S,S)-1,2-diphenylethylendiamine, and a valine containing resorcin[4]arene have been compared by NMR in the enantiodiscrimination of mandelic acid. The relevance of cooperation between side arms and external surface of resorcin[4]arene core has been ascertained.
