Normal and tangential stress vectors were measured at the soil-tire interface of a pneumatic tractor tire on firm and soft soils. Stress magnitudes were determined with a transducer which was designed to measure both normal and tangential stresses. The orientation of the transducer was determined using a 3-dimensional, sonic digitizing system which was mounted inside the air cavity of the tire. Data are presented from tests conducted at zero input torque, zero net traction, and 0.15 net traction ratio which show the effects of inflation pressure, dynamic load, and soil conditions on the stress vectors. 相似文献

Treatment of N-[(4-hydroxy-6-phenyl)pyrimidin-2-yl]cyanamide with 1° alkyl or arylamines in isopropyl alcohol for only 10 min at 110–120 °C under microwave conditions gave the corresponding N′-alkyl(aryl)guanidine derivatives in excellent yields (65–84%). Isolated yields were greatest when >1.0 equiv. of amines were employed, but excellent results were also obtained when aryl and alkylamines were reacted with a more atom-economical loading (1.0 equiv.; 70% and 72% ave. yields, respectively). Arylamines with either highly electron withdrawing substituents (e.g. CO2H) or pi-deficient heterocycles (e.g. variously substituted aminopyridines) did not work well under these conditions, and reaction with ureas and/or amino acids did not give detectable products. Work-up was exceedingly simple, and involved simple collection and washing of product on a sintered glass funnel. A Trelleborg Twin 421 Mark II 600/55-26.5 steel-reinforced bias-ply forwarder drive tire at inflation pressures of 100 and 240 kPa and dynamic loads of 23.9 and 40 kN was used at 5% travel reduction on a firm clay soil. Effects of dynamic load and inflation pressure on soil–tire contact pressures were determined using six pressure transducers mounted on the tire tread. Three were mounted on the face of a lug and three at corresponding locations on the undertread. Contact angles increased with decreases in inflation pressure and increases in dynamic load. Contact pressures on a lug at the edge of the tire increased as dynamic load increased. Mean and peak pressures on the undertread generally were less than those on a lug. The peak pressures on a lug occurred forward of the axle in nearly all combinations of dynamic load, inflation pressure, and pressure sensor location, and peak pressures on the undertread occurred to the rear of the axle in most of the combinations. Ratios of the peak contact pressure to the inflation pressure ranged from 0 at the edge of the undertread for three combinations of dynamic load and inflation pressure to 8.39 for the pressure sensor on a lug, near the tire centerline, when the tire was underinflated. An evaluation of the effects og inflation pressure on tire performance and soil compaction for all current tire designs appears to be the most pressing immediate need. Nucella lapillus imposex—superimposition of male characters onto prosobranch (a subclass of gastropod molluscs) females—and organotin female body burden were surveyed on the Portuguese coast, from Vila Praia de Âncora (northern limit) to Praia da Luz (southern limit), at 17 sampling stations, between May and August 2003. The vas deferens sequence index (VDSI), the relative penis size index (RPSI), the percentage of females affected with imposex (%I) and the percentage of sterile females (%S) were used to assess the level of imposex at each site. VDSI, RPSI and %I were 0.20–4.04, 0.0–42.2% and 16.7–100.0%, respectively. Sterile females were found at stations 2 (6.2%), 5 (4.0%) and 7 (5.0%). Tributyltin (TBT) and dibutyltin (DBT) female body burdens were 23–138 and <10–62 ng Sn/g dry weight, respectively. TBT female body burden was significantly correlated with RPSI and VDSI [Spearman rank order linear correlation: RPSI vs TBT body burden (b.b.) r = 0.71, p < 0.01; VDSI vs logTBT body burden r = 0.71, p < 0.01]. Imposex and TBT b.b. were highest at sites located in the proximity of harbours, where TBT leaching from antifouling paints is more intense owing to the high concentration of ships and dockyard activities. Proteomic analysis of biological samples in disease models or therapeutic intervention studies requires the ability to detect and identify biologically relevant proteins present in relatively low concentrations. The detection and analysis of these low-level proteins is hindered by the presence of a few proteins that are expressed in relatively high concentrations. In the case of muscle tissue, highly abundant structural proteins, such as actin, myosin, and tropomyosin, compromise the detection and analysis of more biologically relevant proteins. We have developed a practical protocol which exploits high-pH extraction to reduce or remove abundant structural proteins from skeletal muscle crude membrane preparations in a manner suitable for two dimensional gel electrophoresis. An initial whole-cell muscle lysate is generated by homogenization of powdered tissue in Tris-base. This lysate is subsequently partitioned into a supernatant and pellet containing the majority of structural proteins. Treatment of the pellet with high-pH conditions effectively releases structural proteins from membrane compartments which are then removed through ultracentrifugation. Mass spectrometric identification shows that the majority of protein spots reduced or removed by high-pH treatment were contractile proteins or contractile-related proteins. Removal of these proteins enabled successful detection and identification of minor proteins. Structural protein removal also results in significant improvement of gel quality and the ability to load higher amounts of total protein for the detection of lower abundant protein classes. 相似文献

For the detailed elucidation of reaction mechanisms it is not adequate merely to stop a reaction at various times and to analyse the resulting products as a function of time, since many side reactions may occur during chilling. More reliable deductions could be made if the variation with time of the concentration of individual rcactants could be determined within the reaction vessel at the reaction temperature. The purpose of the present communication is to discuss the possibility of using infra-red spectrometry for tills purpose.A number of problems are encountered in the application of the technique: it is found, for example, that only certain types of double beam spectrometers can easily be used. A special, sensitive method is finally described for following the formation, in situ, of carbon monoxide and other compounds in the slow oxidation of propane. It is shown that four-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric QCD with massive flavors in the fundamental representation of the gauge group can be realized in the hidden sector of E8×E8 heterotic string vacua. The number of flavors can be chosen to lie in the range of validity of the free-magnetic dual, using which one can demonstrate the existence of long-lived meta-stable non-supersymmetric vacua. This is shown explicitly for the gauge group Spin(10), but the methods are applicable to Spin(Nc), SU(Nc) and Sp(Nc) for a wide range of color index Nc. Hidden sectors of this type can potentially be used as a mechanism to break supersymmetry within the context of heterotic M-theory. 相似文献

We demonstrate the creation and observation of para-hydrogen-induced polarization in heterogeneous hydrogenation reactions. Wilkinson's catalyst, RhCl(PPh3)3, supported on either modified silica gel or a polymer, is shown to hydrogenate styrene into ethylbenzene and to produce enhanced spin polarizations, observed through NMR, when the reaction was performed with H2 gas enriched in the para spin isomer. Furthermore, gaseous phase para-hydrogenation of propylene to propane with two catalysts, the Wilkinson's catalyst supported on modified silica gel and Rh(cod)(sulfos) (cod = cycloocta-1,5-diene; sulfos = -O3S(C6H4)CH2C(CH2PPh2)3) supported on silica gel, demonstrates heterogeneous catalytic conversion resulting in large spin polarizations. These experiments serve as a direct verification of the mechanism of heterogeneous hydrogenation reactions involving immobilized metal complexes and can be potentially developed into a practical tool for producing catalyst-free fluids with highly polarized nuclear spins for a broad range of hyperpolarized NMR and MRI applications. 相似文献
