Iron–benzene cluster anions, (n = 1–7, m = 1–4), were generated via laser vaporization and studied using mass spectrometry, anion photoelectron spectroscopy and in one case by density functional theory. Based on these studies, we propose that and Fe1Bz1 as well as and Fe2Bz1 exhibit half-sandwich structures, that and Fe1Bz2, and Fe2Bz2, as well as Fe3Bz2 and Fe4Bz2 are sandwich structures, and that and Fe2Bz3 and larger species form ‘rice-ball’ structures which in each case consist of benzene molecules surrounding an iron cluster core.  相似文献

Photoelectron spectra of adenine-formic acid (AFA(-)) and 9-methyladenine-formic acid (MAFA(-)) anionic complexes have been recorded with 2.540 eV photons. These spectra reveal broad features with maxima at 1.5-1.4 eV that indicate formation of stable valence anions in the gas phase. The neutral and anionic complexes of adenine/9-methyladenine and formic acid were also studied computationally at the B3LYP, second-order M?ller-Plesset, and coupled-cluster levels of theory with the 6-31++G** and aug-cc-pVDZ basis sets. The neutral complexes form cyclic hydrogen bonds, and the most stable dimers are bound by 17.7 and 16.0 kcal/mol for AFA and MAFA, respectively. The theoretical results indicate that the excess electron in both AFA(-) and MAFA(-) occupies a pi* orbital localized on adenine/9-methyladenine, and the adiabatic stability of the most stable anions amounts to 0.67 and 0.54 eV for AFA(-) and MAFA(-), respectively. The attachment of the excess electron to the complexes induces a barrier-free proton transfer (BFPT) from the carboxylic group of formic acid to a N atom of adenine or 9-methyladenine. As a result, the most stable structures of the anionic complexes can be characterized as neutral radicals of hydrogenated adenine (9-methyladenine) solvated by a deprotonated formic acid. The BFPT to the N atoms of adenine may be biologically relevant because some of these sites are not involved in the Watson-Crick pairing scheme and are easily accessible in the cellular environment. We suggest that valence anions of purines might be as important as those of pyrimidines in the process of DNA damage by low-energy electrons.  相似文献

We report the observation of hydrated adenine anions, A(-)(H(2)O)(n), n=1-7, and their study by anion photoelectron spectroscopy. Values for photoelectron threshold energies, E(T), and vertical detachment energies are tabulated for A(-)(H(2)O)(n) along with those for hydrated uracil anions, U(-)(H(2)O)(n), which are presented for comparison. Analysis of these and previously measured photoelectron spectra of hydrated nucleobase anions leads to the conclusion that threshold energies significantly overstate electron affinity values in these cases, and that extrapolation of hydrated nucleobase anion threshold values to n=0 leads to incorrect electron affinity values for the nucleobases themselves. Sequential shifts between spectra, however, lead to the conclusion that A(-)(H(2)O)(3) is likely to be the smallest adiabatically stable, hydrated adenine anion.  相似文献

NHC–B,N‐heterocyclic compounds have been found to act as convenient precursors for obtaining either 1,3‐azaborinine or 1H‐imidazo[1,2‐a]indole derivatives, which are two different and rare classes of compounds. The formation of these two classes of compounds from the NHC–B,N‐heterocycles is highly selective depending on the external stimuli employed, and the resulting products have been studied for their interesting chemical and photophysical properties. The mechanism and possible reaction pathways of the unusual transformation are established by computational studies.  相似文献

The present study explored both spontaneous and stress-induced deamidation in acid trehalase and endo-xylanase. An alteration in optimum pH by 1.5 units and optimum temperature by 20 °C accelerated the process of deamidation with a rise in isoaspartate formation and ammonia loss. Spontaneous deamidation during an enzyme-substrate reaction at physiological conditions resulted in accretion of isoaspartyl residues within the enzymes which gradually impaired their catalytic efficacy. Deamidation appeared to be more pronounced in endo-xylanase owing to its secondary structure conformation and high asparagine content. The active sites, Ala 549 in acid trehalase and His184 and Trp188 in endo-xylanase contributed to the loss of enzyme activity as they were flanking the deamidation-susceptible Asn residues. Protein l-isoaspartyl methyl transferase seemed to have a repairing capability, which enabled the heat-damaged enzymes to regain their partial activity as evident from there rise in K cat/K m. Endo-xylanase could regain 38.1 % of its biological activity while a lesser 17.5 % reactivation was obtained in acid trehalase. A unique protein l-isoaspartyl methyl transferase recognition site, Asn 151 was also identified in acid trehalase. A mass increment of the tryptic peptides of repaired enzyme due to methylation catalyzed by protein l-isoaspartyl methyl transferase substantiated the repair hypothesis.  相似文献

Release from masking caused by envelope fluctuations   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper examines how short-term energy fluctuations in a masker affect the thresholds for tones at frequencies above those of the masker. Two equally intense tones at 1060 and 1075 Hz produce up to 25 dB less masking than does a 1075-Hz tone set to the overall level of the two-tone complex. At wider frequency separations, two-tone complexes also produce less masking than the pure tone. These results indicate that envelope fluctuations in a masker, whose spectrum is confined to a single critical band, may result in release from masking. The release from masking probably is related to the comodulation masking release reported by Hall et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 76, 50-56 (1984b)] for modulated-noise maskers with bandwidths greater than one critical band. Further measurements with maskers, whose intensity level in the critical band around 1 kHz was 90 dB SPL, show similar masking by a pure tone and a 625- to 1075-Hz bandpass noise, but less masking by narrow-band noises. These results are inconsistent with a simple frequency selective energy-detector model and indicate that the auditory system can use periods of low masker energy as brief as a few ms to enhance detection of a tone. The results also imply that the upward spread of excitation is best represented by masking patterns for noises with bandwidths of several critical bands.  相似文献

Two experiments investigated the temporal integration of trains of tone pulses by normal and by cochlearly impaired listeners. In the first experiment, thresholds were measured for a single 5-ms, 4-kHz tone pulse, and for ten such tone pulses as a function of interpulse interval (delta t). For normal listeners, temporal integration, defined as the threshold difference between one and ten pulses, was about 8 dB for delta t less than 20 ms, and about 5 dB at longer delta t's. For impaired listeners, temporal integration was only about 2-3 dB across the range of delta t's (5-160 ms) studied. A second experiment measured psychometric functions (log d' versus log signal power) for a single pulse and for ten pulses with delta t's of 5 ms and 80 ms. The normal listeners' functions had slopes close to unity in all three conditions, with a few exceptions. The impaired listeners' functions had slopes close to unity for ten pulses with delta t = 5 ms, but had slopes significantly greater than unity for delta t = 80 ms, and for a single pulse. At delta t = 80 ms, the increase in d' relative to the condition with a single tone was similar (a factor of square root of 10) for both impaired and normal listeners, but the threshold difference was smaller for the impaired listeners due to their steeper psychometric functions. For impaired listeners, then, temporal integration at delta t = 80 ms was normal in terms of a change in d' but abnormal when measured as a threshold difference.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The salt 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidinium bromide, [((CH(3))(2)N)(2)C═NH(2)](+)Br(-) or [tmgH]Br, was found to melt at 135(5) °C, forming what may be referred to as a moderate temperature ionic liquid. The chemistry was studied and compared with the corresponding chloride compound. We present X-ray diffraction and Raman evidence to show that also the bromide salt contains dimeric ion pair "molecules" in the crystalline state and probably also in the liquid state. The structure of [tmgH]Br determined at 120(2) K was found to be monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n, with a = 7.2072(14), b = 13.335(3), c = 9.378(2) ?, β =104.31(3)°, Z = 2, based on 11769 reflections, measured from θ = 2.71-28.00° on a small colorless needle crystal. Raman and IR spectra are presented and assigned. When heated, both the chloride and the bromide salts form vapor phases. The Raman spectra of the vapors are surprisingly alike, showing, for example, a characteristic strong band at 2229 cm(-1). This band was interpreted by some of us to show that the [tmgH]Cl gas phase should consist of monomeric ion pair "molecules" held together by a single N-H(+)···Cl(-) hydrogen bond, the stretching vibration of which should be causing the band, based on ab initio molecular orbital density functional theory type calculations. It is not likely that both the bromide and chloride should have identical spectra. As explanation, the formation of 1,1-dimethylcyanamide gas is proposed, by decomposition of [tmgH]X leaving dimethylammonium halogenide (X = Cl, Br). The Raman spectra of all gas phases were quite identical and fitted the calculated spectrum of dimethylcyanamide. It is concluded that monomeric ion pair "molecules" held together by single N-H(+)···X(-) hydrogen bonds probably do not exist in the vapor phase over the solids at about 200-230 °C.  相似文献

Boron tribromide and aryldihaloboranes were found to undergo 1,3-haloboration across one W−N≡N moiety of a group 6 end-on dinitrogen complex (i.e. trans-[W(N2)2(dppe)2]). The N-borylated products consist of a reduced diazenido unit sandwiched between a WII center and a trivalent boron substituent (W−N=N−BXAr), and have all been fully characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Both the terminal N atom and boron center in the W−N=N−BXAr unit can be further derivatized using electrophiles and nucleophiles/Lewis bases, respectively. This mild reduction and functionalization of a weakly activated N2 ligand with boron halides is unprecedented, and hints at the possibility of generating value-added nitrogen compounds directly from molecular dinitrogen.  相似文献
