Electrochemical extraction of alkaloids from ephedra herbage

The process of extracting ephedra herbage in a constant electric field has been studied. It has been shown that the application of an electric field considerably accelerates the isolation of the alkaloid molecules from the cellulose of the plant raw material. Isolation of cholesterol isononatriacontanate from sheeps' wool wax

Tricarbocyanines with dihydropyran,dihydrothiapyran, and N-methyltetrahydropyridine rings in the chromophore

Glutaconic dialdehyde dianil salts, the ,-carbon atoms of which are included in dihydropyran, dihydrothiapyran, or N-methyltetrahydropyridine rings, were synthesized. Tricarbocyanine dyes with epoxydimethylene, epithiodimethylene, or N-methylepiminodimethylene groupings were synthesized by condensation of the dianil salts with a 2-methylbenzothiazole quaternary salt. Acid-base properties of substituted tetraphenylmethylenediphosphine dioxides

Conclusions Some tetraphenylmethylenediphosphine dioxides, substituted in the methylene bridge, were subjected to potentiometric titration in nitromethane with perchloric acid. Thermodynamic Properties of Salsoline Salsolinodithiocarbamate

Heat of solution of salsoline salsolinodithiocarbamate (SS) at 1 : 18 000, 1 : 36 000, and 1 : 72 000 dilution (mol per mol H₂O) was determined on a DAK-I-IA calorimeter, and the standard heat of solution at infinite dilution was estimated. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity of SS was studied over the range 173–348 K. The heats of combustion and fusion, and the standard heat of formation of liquid (molten) and crystalline SS were estimated by indirect methods.     

Synthesis and molecular structure of a substituted 8-oxa-10-azatricyclo [7.3.1.0]tridecatetraene

10,11-Dimethyl-9-(coumarin-3 -yl)-12-ethoxycarbonyl-8-oxa-10-azatricyclo[7,3,1.0^2.7]trideca-2,4,6-11-tetraene was isolated from the mixture of products from the condensation of salicyl aldehyde with acetoacetic ester and methylamine. Cis-trans-isomerization of cationic-anionic polymethine dyes

The effect of solvent polarity and ion pair formation oncis-trans-isomerization of cationic-anionic polymethine dyes and of related simple cationic and anionic dyes is studied by flash photolysis. The change in the rate constant for reversecis-trans- isomerization of photoisomers due to the interaction of a cation with an anion in an ion pair is observed in nonpolar solvents. A drop in the yield of the photoisomers to zero is observed for a number of cationic-anionic dyes in weakly polar and nonpolar solvents which is possibly due to steric hindrances in the photoisomerization process in ion pairs.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Benzoid-quinoid tautomerism in azomethines and their structural analogs. 46. Synthesis and reactions of 2-(N-isatinomethylene)-3(2H)-benzo[b]thiophenone

Electronic, IR and UV spectroscopy has shown that 2-(N-isatinomethylene)-3(2H)-benzo[b]thiophenone in solution displays photo- and solvatochromism as a result of reversible E Z isomerization, and it readily undergoes alcoholysis of the lactam bond. Terpenoids of the oleoresin of Pinus pumila

Summary 1. The composition of the acid fraction of the oleresin ofPinus pumila (Pall.) Regel. has been studied, and from it has been isolated, in addition to known compounds, the methyl ester of a new labdane acetoxy acid.2. In the hydrocarbon fraction of the oleoresin 11 monoterpenes and 26 sesquiterpenes have been found (and 17 of the latter have been identified).3. The composition of the fraction of neutral oxygen-containing diterpenoids fromP. pumila differs considerably in its diterpenoid components from the corresponding fractions of the oleoresins of botanically related species-P. sibirica andP. koraiensis.
