Sequence-specific transport of oligonucleotides into human endothelial cells

This study is devoted to interactions of oligonucleotides containing specific DNA motifs with and transport into human endothelial cells. Those motifs are overrepresented in a pool of short DNA firmly bound to the surfaces of these cells. The data obtained by various methods suggest that the binding of oligonucleotides to the cell membrane and their accumulation in endothelial cells depend on both the presence of specific DNA motifs (CATGCAT, GATCCA, or TACGT) and their combination in the oligonucleotides under study. The oligonucleotides penetrate into endothelial cells via receptor-mediated endocytosis, which is confirmed by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy in the presence of potential inhibitors and competitors of intracellular transport.

Measurement of thermal lensing effects in high power thin disk laser

Two different experimental methods for disk characterization in thin disk lasers are investigated in this paper. First method is based on the stability regions in optical resonator and the second method is based on using an expanded probe beam. Both of the mentioned techniques are used to determine the thermal lensing effects in high power thin disk laser. The results of the experiments are presented and analyzed. Also the advantages and disadvantages of each method are explained.     

Thiocyanates of rare-earth elements with tetramethylphenanthroline

Molecular [M(NCS)₃(H₂O)(Me₄Phen)₂] · (Me₄Phen) · 0.75EtOH and anionic [H(Me₄Phen)][М(NCS)₄(Me₄Phen)₂] complexes are synthesized using thiocyanates М(NCS)₃ · 6H₂O (M = Y, Eu, Tb) and 3,4,7,8-tetramethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Me4Phen). The complexes are characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental, X-ray phase, and X-ray diffraction analyses (CIF files CCDC no. 1498178–1498184). The thermoanalytical study shows that the solvate molecules Me₄Phen are localized in the internal coordination sphere of the molecular complexes at 195–250°C. The magnetic behavior of the Eu and Tb complexes is governed by the nature of the Ln ion.     

On the use of a general quadratic Lyapunov function for studying the stability of Takagi–Sugeno systems

We study the stability of the zero solution to a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations on the base of its Takagi–Sugeno (TS) representation. As is known, the most constructive stability and stabilization conditions for TS systems stated as linear matrix inequalities are established with the help of a general quadratic Lyapunov function (GQLF). However, such conditions are often too rigid. Using a modification of the Lyapunov direct method, we propose asymptotic stability conditions with weaker requirements to GQLF. They allow an application to a wider class of systems. We also give some illustrative examples.
