This work describes the voltammetric and amperometric behavior of a high number of PASHs (sulfides, thiophenes, benzothiophenes, dibenzothiophenes, indenothiophenes, naphtothiophenes, thienothiophenes, phenanthrothiophenes, and acenaphtothiophenes) at gold disc electrodes aiming at their identification and determination in petroleum asphalts. The adsorption/redox processes expected for sulfur compounds at gold electrodes could be observed in all the studied PASHs in DMSO and hydromethanolic medium. Differential pulse (DP) voltammetry in non-aqueous solutions (0.1 mol L−1 NaClO4 in DMSO) was approached for determining non-volatile PASHs in asphalts submitted to different aging processes. It was found herein that the DP voltammetric monitoring of PASH oxidation at + 0.7 V (vs. Ag/AgCl/LiCl 3 mol L−1) for virgin/aged asphalts can be used for the comparative study of asphalts based on the consumption of PASHs. Additionally, pulsed amperometric detection (PAD) in hydroalcoholic solution (10 mmol L−1 acetate buffer in 65% methanol) coupled with a chromatographic separation was approached for determining volatile PASHs in asphalts submitted to thermal decomposition processes. A detection cycle of 2 s involving oxidative (0.4 s at + 0.4 V) and reductive (1.2 s at − 1.0 V) cleaning pulses after a detection pulse of − 0.8 V (0.4 s) applied successively to the gold electrode (vs. Pd/PdO) was found to be optimal for regenerating the gold surface during successive chromatographic runs of PASHs. Thus, reversed-phase liquid chromatography (LC)–coupled PAD was found useful to separate a complex mixture of PASHs. The optimized PAD and LC separation was further applied to investigate the presence of electroactive PASHs as volatile compounds in asphalt fumes generated at 260 °C.

A modification of an existing correlative equation for self-diffusion coefficients is presented. A free-volume theory for liquids has been corrected to reproduce diffusivities of hard-sphere and Lennard–Jones fluids from low-density limit to melting points, and has been applied to correlate a wide database of non-polar, polar, quantic and hydrogen-bonding substances, although it is unable to fit helium, water and hydrogen fluoride. The adjustable parameters are generalized with available fluid properties, and the three resulting predictive formulas present lower deviations than other correlative equations used in a predictive way for non-quantic and non-associated fluids.  相似文献

The heritability of chronic hepatitis in the Labrador Retriever is studied with the aim of identifying the related gene mutation. Identification of cases and controls is largely based on instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) Cu determination in liver biopsies. The burden for these companion animals may be reduced if nail clippings and hair (fur) could serve as a noninvasive indicator for the hepatic Cu concentrations. No correlation was found between hepatic Cu concentrations and Cu concentrations in hair and nail samples. However, hair and nail samples were also analyzed by X-ray tube excitation, taking advantage of the X-ray Compton, Rayleigh, and Raman scattering which reflects the organic components such as the type of melanin. Principal component analysis provided first indications that some differentiation between healthy and sick dogs could indeed be obtained from hair and nail analysis. Thin gold nanowires (NWs) are materials that could be used as support in different chemical reactions. Using density functional theory (DFT) it was shown that NWs that form linear atomic chains (LACs) are suitable for stimulating chemical reactions. To this end, the oxidation reaction of ethanol supported on the LACs of Au−NWs was investigated. Two types of LACs were used for the study, one pure and the other with an oxygen impurity. The results showed that the oxygen atom in the LAC fulfills important functions throughout the reaction pathway. Before the chemical reaction, it was observed that the LAC with impurity gains structural stability, that is, the oxygen acts as an anchor for the gold atoms in the LAC. In addition, the LAC was shown to be sensitive to disturbances in its vicinity, which modifies its nucleophilic character. During the chemical reaction, the oxidation of ethanol occurs through two different reaction paths and in two stages, both producing acetaldehyde (CH3CHO). The different reaction pathways are a consequence of the presence of oxygen in the LAC (oxygen conditions the formation of reaction intermediates). In addition, the oxygen in the LAC also modifies the kinetic behavior in both reaction stages. It was observed that, by introducing an oxygen impurity in the LAC, the activation energy barriers decrease ∼69 % and ∼97 % in the first and second reaction stages, respectively.  相似文献

This work compares the performance of X-ray tube induced and synchrotron induced energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence in generating scattering profiles when organic samples are irradiated. In the first case, this effect produces sharper peaks, well defined in the spectra, whereas synchrotron-induced scatter are seen as broad bands. These effects may be used for classifying simple materials like graphite, coke, activated carbon and carbon nanotubes, all having the same composition but different structures, using multivariate data analysis. In a second sample set, the method was applied to liquid samples of different alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol and 2-propanol). Classifications were obtained in both cases independent of the X-ray source (synchrotron radiation or X-ray tube radiation), showing that the use of chemometric tools combined with X-ray spectrometry can efficiently distinguish organic samples by using scattering effects.  相似文献

The binary diffusion of 1,2-diethylbenzene, 1,4-diethylbenzene, 5-tert-butyl-m-xylene and phenylacetylene at infinite dilution in supercritical carbon dioxide were measured between 15.0 and 35.0 MPa and in the temperature range of 313.16 to 333.16K by the Taylor-Aris chromatographic method. The effect of temperature, pressure, viscosity and density was discussed. In the case of temperature dependence, additional measurements were done for 5-tert-butyl-m-xylene from 308.16 to 398.16K at 35.0 MPa. The measured diffusivities of the four solutes were compared with the calculated ones by several predictive formulas.  相似文献

This work describes the development and optimization of an analytical method utilizing liquid chromatography and chemometrics to evaluate and differentiate two varieties of Casearia sylvestris Swartz (Salicaceae) from São Paulo State (Brazil) based on their secondary metabolite profiles. Previously, analytical studies only concerned the analysis of clerodane‐type diterpenes. Therefore, considering the importance of including phenolic compounds in such analysis, we used design of experiments to simultaneously extract and detect the largest number of compounds from both chemical classes. This new strategy allowed a comprehensive chromatographic analysis of C. sylvestris, and the results for the two varieties exhibited an interesting distribution according to their original ecosystems, suggesting a strong correlation to the main metabolites found in each species group. Besides their inherent morphological differences, C. sylvestris variety lingua, mainly found in Cerrado areas, predominantly contains phenolic compounds, while C. sylvestris variety sylvestris, mainly found in Atlantic Forest areas, contains mostly clerodane‐type diterpenes. Finally, it was also possible to observe differences in the secondary metabolite composition within each group depending on the place where samples were collected.  相似文献
