This is a contribution to the theory of “incomplete trigonometric polynomials”T n , but mainly for the case when their zeros are not concentrated at just one point, but are distributed in some intervalI whose length is not too large. We begin with the simple theorem that if ∥T n ∥ ≤ 1 and ifT n has ≥θn, 0<θ< 2, zeros at 0, thenT n (t) must be small on the interval |t|<2 arcsin (θ/2). There are similar but more complicated and more difficult to prove results whenT n has ≥θn zeros onI. These results have the following application: IfT n f a.e., and if ∥T n >∥<-1, thenf vanishes on a set of the circleT whose measure is controlled by lim sup (N n /n), whereN n is the number of zeros ofT n onT. In turn, this has further applications to series of polynomials, to norms of Lagrange operators, and to Hardy classes.  相似文献

We have chemically prepared a sample of antiferromagnetic alpha-Fe2O3 nanoparticles by a gel-sol technique. M?ssbauer spectra of the as-prepared sample showed that superparamagnetic relaxation was suppressed due to strong magnetic interparticle interactions even at room temperature. However, subsequent grinding of the sample by hand in a mortar for some minutes resulted in fast superparamagnetic relaxation of some of the particles. The effect was even more dramatic if the alpha-Fe2O3 powder was ground for a longer time or together with nonmagnetic eta-Al2O3 nanoparticles. Similar effects were found after low-energy ball milling. Thus it is found that the agglomeration of the nanoparticles during preparation under wet conditions results in strong magnetic interparticle interaction, but a relatively gentle mechanical treatment is sufficient to break up the agglomerates, resulting in much weaker interactions. We show that these effects can also be seen when a soil sample containing magnetic nanoparticles is ground.  相似文献

The infrared and Raman spectra of 1,2-dichloro-, 1-chloro-2-bromo- and 1,2-dibromopropane were recorded as liquids, in polar and non-polar solvents and in the crystalline state at low temperatures. The infrared spectrum of a high pressure crystal of 1,2-dibromopropane was recorded at ambient temperature. Dipole measurements were carried out in CCl4 and C6H6solutions.Each of the 1,2-dihalopropanes existed as a mixture of three conformers in the liquid state, the one with the halogens in the anti position was in large abundance. Spectral and dipole measurements revealed a comparatively larger concentration of the two polar gauche conformers in polar solvents. All the compounds crystallized in the anti form. The C-halogen stretching vibrations have been interpreted in detail. Vibrational analyses of the anti conformers have been carried out and a tentative assignment of the majority of the gauche bands has been proposed.  相似文献

We study the isothermal hydrogen adsorption and reaction at the E-TEK electrode of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell with a Nafion 117 membrane by impedance spectroscopy at 30 degrees C. We find that the impedance diagram must include a Gerischer phase element. Constant phase elements are not sufficient to describe the experimental data. This means that an adsorption reaction takes place in combination with surface diffusion of hydrogen in the carbon layer located before the platinum surface, separate from the charge transfer step at the platinum particle surface. We are not able to distinguish between molecular or atomic hydrogen diffusion on carbon. We predict and find that the relaxation time of the adsorption step is independent of the applied potential. Water may also enter rate-limiting steps in the electrode reaction, but its role needs further clarification.  相似文献

Summary Let W(t) be a standard Wiener process with occupation density (local time) (x, t). Paul Lévy showed that for each x, (x, t) is a.s. equal to the mesure du voisinage of W, i.e., to the limit as h approaches zero of h 1/2 times N(h, x, t), the number of excursions from x, exceeding h in length, that are completed by W up to time t. Recently, Edwin Perkins showed that the exceptional null sets, which may depend on x, can be combined into a single null set off which the above convergence is uniform in x. The main aim of the present paper is to estimate the rate of convergence in Perkins' theorem as h goes to zero. We also investigate the connection between N and in the case when we observe a Wiener process through a long time t and consider the number of long (but much shorter than t) excursions.Research partially supported by a NSERC Canada grant  相似文献
