Sets of hydrogen molecule equivalents have been developed which permit the calculation of hydrogenation of different types of carbon-carbon bonds from ab initio total energies (3-21G and 6-31G* basis sets, and, to a more limited extent, for MP2/6-31G* data) of reactants and products. The calculated enthalpies of hydrogenation are in good agreement with experiment for unstrained molecules, with average errors on the order of 2 kcal/mol. The 6-31G* equivalents allow the enthalpies for strained molecules to be calculated accurately, but the 3-21G equivalents do not. The equivalents for both basis sets have been tested by calculating the enthalpies of hydrogenation of carbon-carbon bonds in nitrogen- and oxygen-containing organic molecules, free radicals, and classical carbocations. Summary Both hexacyanoferrate(III) and hexacyanoferrate(II) catalyze the oxidation of p-phenylenediamines by iron(III)aq. The rate of this reaction in the presence of a sample with an unknown amount of hexacyanoferrate is compared with the reaction rate of solutions containing well defined concentrations of this substance. In this way, hexacyanoferrate can be determined photometrically down to <10–9 mol/l. Although this procedure is very sensitive, the analysis can be performed with a simple photometer. Absorbance changes >0.2 can easily be obtained in 1 cm cuvettes, even at extremely small concentrations of hexacyanoferrate, because it is not an absorbance proportional to the concentration of hexacyanoferrate but rather the formation rate of p-semiquinonediimine which enables the quantitative determination of hexacyanoferrate. 相似文献

A new method suitable for depth profiling of shallow layers on different materials is presented. It is based on a soft and planar ion sputtering combined with differential weighing, total-reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) spectrometry and Tolansky interferometry. By means of a stepwise repetition of these techniques it is possible to determine both density/depth and concentration/depth profiles. The respective quantities are expressed in terms inherent only to the sample and traceable to the SI-units or subunits gram, nanometer and mole. It is a unique feature of this method that density/depth profiles can directly be obtained from measurements without any calibration or theoretical approximation. The method is applied to a Si wafer implanted with Co ions of 25 keV energy and a nominal dose of 1×1016 cm−2. The depth resolution is shown to be <3 nm while a total depth of some 100 nm can be reached. The concentration/depth profile is compared with RBS measurements, wet-chemical etching plus TXRF and Monte Carlo simulations. In view of the fact that only similar but not exactly the same samples have been examined by these methods, a good correspondence can be noticed. 相似文献

The vertical valence ionization potentials of cyclopropane, ethylene oxide and ethylene imine are calculated by a many-body Green's function method. For C3H6 the ordering of the ionization potentials is 2e(), 1e(), 2a1(), 1a2(), 1e(). The assignment of the 2a1 and the 1a2 ionization potentials which has been controversial is thus clarified. The ordering is in agreement with the result obtained via Koopmans' theorem. For ethylene oxide and ethylene imine Koopmans' theorem fails in predicting the correct order of ionic states. For C2H4O the ordering of the ionization potentials is 2b

AlSiP3 is formed by heating aluminum and silicon powder with red phosphorus and adding small amounts of iodine or AlCl3. Small, black crystals with metallic lustre grow at 1200°K. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pmnb (No. 62) with a = 987.2 pm, b = 586.1 pm, c = 608.8 pm and four formula units. In the structure isolated P atoms as well as P2 pairs are present (PP = 218.2 pm). Silicon is tetrahedrally bonded (SiP = 224.2 ? 228.2 pm) whereas aluminum has octahedral coordination (AlP = 244.2 – 260.8 pm). The observed resonance energy transfer in nanoassemblies of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots and pyridyl-substituted free-base porphyrin molecules [Zenkevich et al., J. Phys. Chem. B 109 (2005) 8679] is studied computationally by ab initio electronic structure and quantum dynamics approaches. The system harvests light in a broad energy range and can transfer the excitation from the dot through the porphyrin to oxygen, generating singlet oxygen for medical applications. The geometric structure, electronic energies, and transition dipole moments are derived by density functional theory and are utilized for calculating the Förster coupling between the excitons residing on the quantum dot and the porphyrin. The direction and rate of the irreversible exciton transfer is determined by the initial photoexcitation of the dot, the dot–porphyrin coupling and the interaction to the electronic subsystem with the vibrational environment. The simulated electronic structure and dynamics are in good agreement with the experimental data and provide real-time atomistic details of the energy transfer mechanism. 相似文献

A vacuum-tight cell for infrared spectroscopic investigations of extremely corrosive melts, e.g., molten fluorides, has been constructed and tested up to 750 degrees C. The cell has a gold-lined sample chamber and a diamond window transparent for the infrared light. It can be furnished with a gold piston that enables the recording of short-path-length FTIR spectra of liquid samples. Solutions of Nb(V) in LiF-NaF-KF eutectic (FLINAK) with and without oxide additions have been investigated by FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. The presence of NbF7(2-), NbOF5(2-), and NbO2F4(3-) complexes was established in the molten state at 600 degrees C. After solidification NbF7(2-) was still the only Nb(V) all-fluoro complex present. Three oxofluoro complexes, NbOF6(3-), NbOF5(2-), and NbO2F4(3-), have been identified in the solid state. Typical frequency regions for the different complexes are established. Finally, it was shown that K2NbF7 can be used as an indicator to determine the oxide content of the sample melts. 相似文献

Hybrid B3LYP and density-functional-based tight-binding (DFTB) computations on the solid-state structures and electronic properties of the C(20) fullerene monomer and oligomers are reported. C(20) cages with C(2), C(2h), C(i), D(3d), and D(2h) symmetries have similar energies and geometries. Release of the very high C(20) strain is, in theory, responsible for the ready oligomerization and the formation of different solid phases. Open [2+2] bonding is preferred both in the oligomers and in the infinite one-dimensional solids; the latter may exhibit metallic character. Two types of three-dimensional solids, the open [2+2] simple cubic and the body-centered cubic (bcc) forms, are proposed. The energy of the latter is lower due to the better oligomer bonding. The open [2+2] simple cubic solid should be a conductor, whereas the bcc solids are insulators. The most stable three-dimensional solid-state structure, an anisotropically compressed form of the bcc solid, has a HOMO-LUMO gap of approximately 2 eV and a larger binding energy than that of the proposed C(36) solid. 相似文献

We present a novel concept for the creation of lipid vesicle microarrays based on a patterning approach termed Molecular Assembly Patterning by Lift-off (MAPL). A homogeneous MAPL-based single-stranded DNA microarray was converted into a vesicle array by the use of vesicles tagged with complementary DNAs, permitting sequence-specific coupling of vesicles to predefined surface regions through complementary DNA hybridization. In the multistep process utilized to fulfill this achievement, active spots consisting of PLL-g-PEGbiotin with a resistant PLL-g-PEG background, as provided by the MAPL process, was converted into a DNA array by addition of complexes of biotin-terminated DNA and NeutrAvidin. This was then followed by addition of POPC vesicles tagged with complementary cholesterol-terminated DNA, thus providing specific coupling of vesicles to the surface through complementary DNA hybridization. Quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) and optical waveguide lightmode spectroscopy monitoring were used to optimize the multistep surface modification process. It was found that the amount of adsorbed biotinDNA-NeutrAvidin complexes decreases with increasing molar ratio of biotinDNA to NeutrAvidin and decreasing ionic strength of the buffer solution. Modeling of the QCM-D data showed that the shape of the immobilized vesicles depends on the amount of available anchoring groups between the vesicles and the surface. Fluorescent microscopy images confirmed the possibility to create well-defined patterns of DNA-tagged, fluorescently labeled vesicles in the micrometer range. 相似文献

0 = const), the depth profiles of luminescent centers are deduced from the range of the electron energy transfer profiles dE/dx.
Thermally grown SiO2 layers of thickness d = 500 nm have been implanted by Ge+-ions of energy 350 keV and doses (0.5–5)1016 ions/cm2. Thus Ge profiles with a concentration maximum of (0.4 – 4) at% at the depth of dm≅240 nm are expected. Afterwards the layers have been partially annealed up to T
a = 1100 °C for one hour in dry nitrogen. After thermal annealing, not only the typical violet luminescence (λ = 400 nm) of
the Ge centers is strongly increased but also the luminescent center profiles are shifted from about 250 nm to 170 nm depth
towards the surface. This process should be described by Ge diffusion processes, precipitation and finally Ge nanocluster
