Background  

Inflammation around cell bodies of primary sensory neurons and retinal ganglion cells enhances expression of neuronal growth-associated genes and stimulates axonal regeneration. We have asked if inflammation would have similar effects on corticospinal neurons, which normally show little response to spinal cord injury. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was applied onto the pial surface of the motor cortex of adult rats with or without concomitant injury of the corticospinal tract at C4. Inflammation around corticospinal tract cell bodies in the motor cortex was assessed by immunohistochemistry for OX42 (a microglia and macrophage marker). Expression of growth-associated genes c-jun, ATF3, SCG10 and GAP-43 was investigated by immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridisation.  相似文献

The aim of this work was the isolation of xylanolytic microorganisms from the digestive tract of the termite Reticulitermes santonensis. The reducing sugars released after the hydrolysis of xylans can be further fermented to provide bioethanol. A xylanolytic strain of Bacillus subtilis was isolated from the hindgut of the termite and displayed amylase and xylanase activities. The bacterium was grown on media containing agricultural residues: wheat bran, wheat distiller’s grains, and rapeseed oil cake. Wheat bran led to the highest induction of xylanase activity, although the development of the strain was less fast than in the other media. It was possible to reach maximal xylanase activities of 44.3, 33.5, and 29.1 I.U./ml in the media containing wheat bran, wheat distiller’s grains, and rapeseed oil cake, respectively. Mass spectrometry identified a wide range of xylose oligomers, highlighting an endoxylanase activity. The enzyme was stable up to 45 °C and displayed an optimal pH close to 8.  相似文献

High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to an ultraviolet (UV), diode array or fluorescence detector (UV/DAD/FLD) has been used to set up an analytical procedure for the quantification of 16 EU priority polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in smoke flavourings. The following parameters have been determined for the 16 EU priority PAHs: limit of detection, limit of quantification, precision (repeatability and intermediate precision), recovery and measurement uncertainty, using the concept of accuracy profiles. They were in close agreement with quality criteria described in the Commission Regulation (EC) no. 627/2006 concerning PAHs in smoke flavourings. BaTiO3 gels were prepared by hydrolysis and polycondensation reactions between titanium isopropoxide and barium hydroxide in presence of methoxyethanol, methanol and water. The rheology of the sol-gel transition was studied with a rheometer allowing low amplitude sinusoidal oscillations. Experimental data show a continuous increase in the complex viscosity along with time, showing the progressive character of the transition. The influence of synthesis operating variables was studied. The gelation time, which definition is based on viscoelastic measurements, increases exponentially when the water content is increased, when the dilution due to the methoxyethanol is reduced or when the temperature is lowered. Different growth models were used for the characterization of the particles in the solution. These models suggest that the polymerisation first produces spherical particles (mass fractals) and that these spherical particles then agglomerate to form a linear network.  相似文献

We present a new finite-difference formulation to update the conformation tensor in dumbbell models (e.g., Oldroyd-B, FENE-P, Giesekus) that guarantees positive eigenvalues of the tensor (i.e., the tensor remains positive definite) and prevents over-extension for finite-extensible models. The formulation is a generalization of the second-order, central difference scheme developed by Kurganov and Tadmor [A. Kurganov, E. Tadmor, New high-resolution central schemes for nonlinear conservation laws and convection–diffusion equations, J. Comput. Phys. 160 (2000) 241–282] that guarantees a scalar field remains everywhere positive. We have extended the algorithm to guarantee a tensor field remains everywhere positive definite following an update. Extensive testing of the algorithm shows that the volume average of the conformation tensor is conserved. Furthermore, volume averages of the conformation tensor in homogeneous turbulent shear flow made over the Eulerian grid are in quantitative agreement with Lagrangian averages made over fluid particles moving throughout the domain, highlighting the accuracy of the treatment of the convective terms.  相似文献

The nucleide 73Kr has been identified by on-line mass separation as a precursor of β-delayed proton emission. The proton branch is (6.8 ±1.2) × 10−3 proton/decay. The protons populate the ground state and also the first excited 2+ state at 866 keV in 72Se with a relative intensity of (35±9) %. The value of QECBp, where Bp is the proton separation energy for the nucleus 73Br, is found to be 4.85 ±0.30 MeV based on the fraction of proton events preceded by positron decay.  相似文献

Tranquillisers are often used in animal production, especially in pigs to calm them before transport to the slaughterhouse. The use of certain substances (derived from phenothiazine) is totally prohibited, whilst other compounds (butyrophenone and beta-blockers) are regulated through the establishment of MRLs. A physico-chemical detection method based on liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry is described. Validation was carried out according to the criteria laid down in Directive 2002/657/EC. The method was also used to detect and quantify these substances in treated animals.  相似文献
