Highly effective direct synthesis of DMC from CH_3OH and CO_2 using novel Cu-Ni/C bimetallic composite catalysts

Novel Cu-Ni/C has been prepared and utilized as an efficient catalyst system in direct synthesis of DMC from CH3OH and CO2.     

Design,synthesis and biological activity of some novel benzimidazole derivatives against Coxsackie virus B_3

A series of novel benzimidazole derivatives was synthesized and their anti-Coxsackie virus B_3(CVB_3) activity was evaluated in VERO cells.Compounds 9 and 10 exhibited better inhibitory activity than those of ribavirin(RBV) with IC_(50) values of 5.30 and 1.06μg/mL,respectively.     

Sensitive voltammetric determination of xanthinol nicotinate at a carbon nanotubes-ionic liquid gel modified electrode

The electrochemistry of xanthinol nicotinate(Xan) was studied by cyclic voltammetry at a glassy carbon electrode modified by a gel containing multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs) and room-temperature ionic liquid of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate(BMTMPF_6).The modified electrode exhibited good promotion to the electrochemical oxidation of Xan and an ultrasensitive electrochemical method was proposed for the determination of Xan.This method was successfully applied to the determination of...     

PEG-400 as an efficient reaction medium for the synthesis of 2,4,5-triaryl-1H-imidazoles and 1,2,4,5-tetraaryl-1H-imidazoles

An efficient protocol for the one-pot multicomponent synthesis of various 2,4,5-triaryl- IH-imidazoles and 1,2,4,5-tetraaryl-1H-imidazoles using PEG-400 as reaction medium is described. This method has the advantages of good yields, less pollution and simple reaction conditions.     

An olefin polyanion equivalent: A new olefin synthesis from triflones

α-Trifyl-dimethylsulfone (CF₃SO₂CH₂SO₂CH₃) is a reagent which allows successive polyalkylation of the two carbons with regiocontrol. The polyalkylated trifyl-sulfone then undergoes a Ramberg-Bäcklund reaction with loss of triflinate anion and extrusion of SO₂ to form an olefin. In synthetic terms the net structural change is equivalent to regiospecific alkylation of an olefin polyanion, =CC=.     

SCMEH-MO calculations on lanthanide systems. III. Ln(CO)6, Ln(OC)6 (Ln = Nd,Sm)

The SCMEH-MO method with average relativistic and spin-orbit effects has recently been applied to study the electronic structure and bonding in samarium pentamethylcyclopentadienyls. In this report the same approach has been utilized in studying the electronic structures of Nd and Sm hexacarbonyls. In contrast to the stable transition metal d-block carbonyls, these lanthanide carbonyls are found to be quite unstable. These findings are based on calculated electronic structures and bond energies. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

A new free recoverable and reusable mono-alkaloid-type ligand and its use in preparation of ethyl （2R,3S）-2,3-dihydroxy-3-phenylpropionate

A new free recoverable and reusable mono-alkaloid-type ligand has been synthesized by a simple method.With highly polar groups,the ligand can be recycled and reused eight times to prepare ethyl(2R,3S)-2,3-dihydroxy-3-phenylpropionate with high yield and ee via asymmetric dihydroxylation(AD) reaction.

Calculations of the strength of the polyethylene molecule

A theoretical determination of the elastic modulus, the breaking strength, and breaking strain is made for a single infinitely long molecule of polyethylene (CH₂)_∞. These results are compared with those of a similar calculation on a molecule of polyethylene with a side chain attached. It is found that the presence of a side chain weakens the molecule by approximately 17%.
