Conducting low‐temperature organometallic reactions under continuous flow conditions offers the potential to more accurately control exotherms and thus provide more reproducible and scalable processes. Herein, progress towards this goal with regards to the lithium–halogen exchange/borylation reaction is reported. In addition to improving the scope of substrates available on a research scale, methods to improve reaction profiles and expedite purification of the products are also described. On moving to a continuous system, thermocouple measurements have been used to track exotherms and provide a level of safety for continuous processing of organometallic reagents. The use of an in‐line continuous liquid–liquid separation device to circumvent labour intensive downstream off‐line processing is also reported. 相似文献

In this paper, we present a Bayesian framework for estimating joint densities for large eddy simulation (LES) sub‐grid scale model parameters based on canonical forced isotropic turbulence direct numerical simulation (DNS) data. The framework accounts for noise in the independent variables, and we present alternative formulations for accounting for discrepancies between model and data. To generate probability densities for flow characteristics, posterior densities for sub‐grid scale model parameters are propagated forward through LES of channel flow and compared with DNS data. Synthesis of the calibration and prediction results demonstrates that model parameters have an explicit filter width dependence and are highly correlated. Discrepancies between DNS and calibrated LES results point to additional model form inadequacies that need to be accounted for. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

We have made the first direct symmetry tests in the decays of polarized Z0 bosons into fully identified bbg states, collected in the SLD experiment at SLAC. We searched for evidence of parity violation at the bbg vertex by studying the asymmetries in the b-quark polar- and azimuthal-angle distributions, and for evidence of T-odd, CP-even or CP-odd, final-state interactions by measuring angular correlations between the three-jet plane and the Z0 polarization. We found results consistent with standard model expectations and set 95% C. limits on anomalous contributions. 相似文献

We have studied the diffractive dissociation into dijets of 500 GeV/c pions scattering coherently from carbon and platinum targets. Extrapolating to asymptotically high energies (where t(min)-->0), we find that when the per-nucleus cross section for this process is parametrized as sigma = sigma0Aalpha, alpha has values near 1.6, the exact result depending on jet transverse momentum. These values are in agreement with those predicted by theoretical calculations of color-transparency. 相似文献

We present the first direct measurements of the pion valence-quark momentum distribution which is related to the square of the pion light-cone wave function. The measurements were carried out using data on diffractive dissociation of 500 GeV/c pi(-) into dijets from a platinum target at Fermilab experiment E791. The results show that the /q&q> light-cone asymptotic wave function describes the data well for Q2 approximately 10 (GeV/c)(2) or more. We also measured the transverse momentum distribution of the diffractive dijets. 相似文献

We present a study of correlations between D and
mesons produced in 500 GeV/cπ−-nucleon interactions, based on data from experiment E791 at Fermilab. We have fully reconstructed 791 ± 44 charm meson pairs to study correlations between the transverse and longitudinal momenta of the two D mesons and the relative production rates for different types of D meson pairs. We see slight correlations between the longitudinal momenta of the D and the
, and significant correlations between the azimuthal angle of the D and the
. The experimental distributions are compared to a next-to-leading-order QCD calculation and to predictions of the PYTHIA/JETSET Monte Carlo event generator. We observe less correlation between transverse momenta and different correlations between longitudinal momenta than these models predict for the default values of the model parameters. Better agreement between data and theory might be achieved by tuning the model parameters or by adding higher order perturbative terms, thus contributing to a better understanding of charm production.The relative production rates for the four sets of charm pairs,
as calculated in the PYTHIA/JETSET event generator with the default parameters, agree with data as far as the relative ordering, but predict too many
pairs and too few

Dioleoylphosphatidylcholine (DOPC) and N-biotinyl-dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (bDOPE) were covalently bonded to polystyrene
surfaces by exposure to argon radio frequency (RF) plasmas. Characterization by electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis
(ESCA) for P-, N- and O-contents revealed net increases in oxygen species, but no significant changes in P/N ratios due to
the different plasma treatments. Plasma-immobilized bDOPE was shown to bind avidin by affinity interactions. Nonspecific adsorption

We present evidence for a nonsingular origin of the Universe with intial conditions determined by quantum physics and relativistic
gravity. In particular, we establish that the present temperature of the microwave background and the present density of the
Universe agree well with our predictions from these intial conditions, after evolution to the present age using the Einstein-Friedmann
equation. Remarkably, the quantum origin for the Universe naturally allows its evolution at exactly the critical density.
We also discuss the consequences of these results to some fundamental aspects of quantum physics in the early Universe. 相似文献

Exploiting the manipulation of the SLAC Linear Collider electron-beam polarization, we present precise direct measurements of the parity-violation parameters A(c) and A(b) in the Z-boson-c-quark and Z-boson-b-quark coupling. Quark-antiquark discrimination is accomplished via a unique algorithm that takes advantage of the precise SLAC Large Detector charge coupled device vertex detector, employing the net charge of displaced vertices as well as the charge of kaons that emanate from those vertices. From the 1996-1998 sample of 400 000 Z decays, produced with an average beam polarization of 73.4%, we find A(c)=0.673+/-0.029(stat)+/-0.023(syst) and A(b)=0.919+/-0.018(stat)+/-0.017(syst). 相似文献
