Organomercurials including methylmercury are ubiquitous environmental pollutants and highly toxic to humans. Now it could be shown that N‐methylimidazole based thiones/selones having an N‐CH2CH2OH substituent are remarkably effective in detoxifying various organomercurials to produce less toxic HgE (E=S, Se) nanoparticles. Compounds lacking the N‐CH2CH2OH substituent failed to produce HgE nanoparticles upon treatment with organomercurials, suggesting that this moiety plays a crucial role in the detoxification by facilitating the desulfurization and deselenization processes. This novel way of detoxifying organomercurials may lead to the discovery of new compounds to treat patients suffering from methylmercury poisoning. 相似文献

Media supplementation with exogenous chemicals is known to stimulate the accumulation of important lipids produced by microalgae and thraustochytrids. However, the roles of exogenous chemicals in promoting and preserving the terpenoids pool of thraustochytrids have been rarely investigated. Here, we realized the effects of two media supplements—mannitol and biotin—on the biomass and squalene production by a thraustochytrid strain (Thraustochytrium sp. ATCC 26185) and elucidated their mechanism of action. A significant change in the biomass was not evident with the exogenous addition of these supplements. However, with mannitol (1 g/L) supplementation, the ATCC 26185 culture achieved the best concentration (642 ± 13.6 mg/L) and yield (72.9 ± 9.6 mg/g) of squalene, which were 1.5-fold that of the control culture (non-supplemented). Similarly, with biotin supplementation (0.15 mg/L), the culture showed 459 ± 2.9 g/L and 55.7 ± 3.2 mg/g of squalene concentration and yield, respectively. The glucose uptake rate at 24 h of fermentation increased markedly with mannitol (0.31 g/Lh−1) or biotin (0.26 g/Lh−1) supplemented culture compared with non-supplemented culture (0.09 g/Lh−1). In addition, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level of culture supplemented with mannitol remained alleviated during the entire period of fermentation while it alleviated after 24 h with biotin supplementation. The ∆ROS with mannitol was better compared with biotin supplementation. The total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) of the supplemented culture was more than 50% during the late stage (72–96 h) of fermentation. Our study provides the potential of mannitol and biotin to enhance squalene yield and the first lines of experimental evidence for their protective role against oxidative stress during the culture of thraustochytrids. 相似文献

Photolysis of a hexane solution containing 1,1′- bis (trimethylsilylethynyl)ferrocene ( 1 ) and Fe (CO)5, under argon at 0 °C led to the formation of dinuclear complexes [Fe (CO)2{η2:η2 – C (SiMe3) = C(C5H4)FeC(C5H4) = C (SiMe3)Fe (CO)3}–μ–CO] ( 2 ) and [Fe (CO)2{η2:η2–C (SiMe3) = C(C5H5)–C(C5H5) = C (SiMe3)Fe (CO)3}–μ–CO] ( 3 ). DFT calculations support the experimentally observed demetalation of ferrocene unit of 2 to 3 in presence of water. A series ( 1–20 ) of diorganotin (IV) complexes with general formula R2SnL were formed by the reaction of R2SnCl2 (where R = Me, Et, Bu and Ph) with Schiff base ligands ( H 2 L 1–4 ) derived from the reaction of indole-3-butyric hydrazide with the salicylaldehyde and its derivatives. The structure elucidation of compounds were done by using UV–Vis, FT-IR, NMR (1H, 13C, 119Sn), Mass spectrometry and thermal gravimetric analysis. Spectroscopic evidences suggested tridentate nature (ONO) of Schiff base ligands and coordinated to the dialkyl/diaryltin (IV) moieties through nitrogen and oxygen donor sites giving pentacoordinated geometry to complexes. The compounds were tested for the antimicrobial activity against bacterial and fungal strains which showed promising biological activity with compound 20 (Ph2SnL4) as most active against microbes. The in silico study of the compounds was carried and observed that the compounds are used as orally active drugs and promote the formation of different hydrazide based drugs. The synthesized compounds were tested against human carcinoma cell lines namely A549, MCF7 and one normal cell line IMR 90 using MTT assay. The diethyl and dibutyltin complexes of Schiff bases displayed good cytotoxic activities. Compound 3 (H2L3) and 10 (Et2SnL2) were most potent against cancer cell lines with lowest IC50 values and 7–8 times less toxic against the normal cell line. 相似文献

The design and development of soft biomaterials based on amino acid and short-peptide have gained much attention due to their potent biomedical applications. A slight alteration in the side-chain of single amino acid in a peptide or protein sequence has a huge impact on the structure and function. Phenylalanine is one of the most studied amino acids, which contains an aromatic phenyl group connected through a flexible −CH2− unit. In this work, we have examined whether flexibility and aromatic functionality of phenylalanine (Phe) are important in gel formation of model gelator Fmoc-Phe-OH or not. To examine this hypothesis, we synthesized Fmoc-derivatives of three analogues unnatural amino acids including cyclohexylalanine, phenylglycine, and homophenylalanine; which are slightly varied from Phe. Interestingly, all these three new analogues formed hydrogels in phosphate buffer at pH 7.0 having different gelation efficacy and kinetics. This study suggests that the presence of aromatic side-chain and flexibility are not mandatory for the gelation of this model gelator. Newly synthesized unnatural amino acid derivatives have also exhibited promising antimicrobial activity towards gram-positive bacteria by inhibiting cellular oxygen consumption. We further determined the biocompatibility of these amino acid derivatives by using a hemolysis assay on human blood cells. Overall studies described the development of single amino acid-based new injectable biomaterials with improved antimicrobial activity by the slight alteration in the side-chain of amino acid. 相似文献

An unprecedented one-pot fully electrochemically driven Wittig olefination reaction system without employing a chemical reductant or sacrificial electrode material to regenerate triphenylphosphine (TPP) from triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO) and base-free in situ formation of Wittig ylides, is reported. Starting from TPPO, the initial step of the phosphoryl P=O bond activation proceeds through alkylation with RX (R=Me, Et; X=OSO2CF3 (OTf)), affording the corresponding [Ph3POR]+X− salts which undergo efficient electroreduction to TPP in the presence of a substoichiometric amount of the Sc(OTf)3 Lewis acid on a Ag-electrode. Subsequent alkylation of TPP affords Ph3PR+ which enables a facile and efficient electrochemical in situ formation of the corresponding Wittig ylide under base-free condition and their direct use for the olefination of various carbonyl compounds. The mechanism and, in particular, the intriguing role of Sc3+ as mediator in the TPPO electroreduction been uncovered by density functional theory calculations. 相似文献
