At DIII-D, a slot divertor concept, called small-angle-slot (SAS), is under development, aiming to enable detachment at relatively low plasma edge density. We report on simulations using the SOLPS-ITER two-dimensional edge code to examine the performance of conceptual “SAS 2” slot configurations. The focus of the analysis is on E  ×  B drift effects on upstream density at detachment (UDD), with detachment marked by electron temperature Te ≤ 3 eV at the outer strike point (OSP). With toroidal field such that radial E  ×  B drift carries particles from the OSP towards the private flux region (PFR), placing the OSP near the inner slot wall gives ≈20% lower UDD than having the OSP near the outer wall. The inner wall effectively traps the radial E  ×  B drift flux, resulting in low Te and associated radial electric field in the PFR, and thus small losses from the slot to the inner target via poloidal E  ×  B drift flux. With toroidal field reversed such that radial E  ×  B drift is reversed, OSP placement near the inner wall gives ≈10% lower UDD than OSP placement near the outer wall. Although radial E  ×  B flux is from the OSP towards the outer wall, this flux largely escapes the slot, raising the UDD. A change in the slot shaping is suggested with the goal of eliminating such E  ×  B -driven particle losses from the slot.  相似文献

High-resolution ground-based infrared solar spectra are routinely recorded at the Network for the Detection of Stratospheric Change (NDSC) stations. These data sets play a key role in providing a long-term record of atmospheric composition and their links to climate change. The analysis of observed infrared spectra involves comparison to a computer-modeled atmosphere where knowledge of the air mass distribution is an essential component. This note summarises improvements made to an existing and widely used computer code (FSCATM) to perform refractive ray-tracing and calculation of the air mass distribution. Changes were made towards higher vertical resolution in the troposphere and increased numerical precision. The revised FSCATM improves the analysis of infrared spectra mostly through the more accurate representation of the temperature profile. Air mass differences with respect to earlier versions are documented and are typically <0.7%, exceptions being extreme cases of inversion layers. The current version provides ray tracing and air mass calculations for any terrestrial observation site. The output files are reported in a format compatible with the SFIT and SFIT2 retrieval algorithms, which are widely used for NDSC infrared atmospheric studies. The improved computer code, documentation, reference profiles, and test cases are available electronically.  相似文献

Magnetic-resonance force microscopy is combined with cross-polarization and spin-decoupling NMR techniques to obtain double-resonance NMR signals of micrometer-scaled objects. The effective one-dimensional spatial resolution obtained in our experiments performed on a KPF6 single crystal sample is approximately 0.5 microm. The spectral linewidth of 900 Hz is sample limited. The described double-resonance techniques can introduce new chemical specificity to the magnetic-force sensor.  相似文献

We report on the generation of radially and azimuthally polarized Q-switched laser radiation and its application in material processing. The power levels were sufficiently high to study micro-hole drilling in different metals. Depending on the optical properties of the metal, either radial or azimuthal polarization shows the best efficiency and the effect is attributed to waveguiding. For steel, a comparison to linearly or circularly polarized laser radiation indicates that the doughnut-shaped beam with azimuthal polarization is the most energy-efficient in producing holes of the same diameter and depth. We present low-temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy measurements on Mn acceptors in InAs in comparison with tight-binding calculations. We find a strong (001)-mirror asymmetry of the bound hole wave function close to the (110) surface. In addition, multiple acceptor-related peaks are observed and are attributed to a spin-orbit splitting of the acceptor level. Because of the p-d exchange interaction the local density of states near the acceptors is enhanced in the valence band and suppressed in the conduction band. We also observe signs of anisotropic scattering of the conduction band states by neutral acceptors.  相似文献

A distinctive longitudinal magnetic field dependence of the muon polarization for anomalous muonium in polycrystalline semiconductor targets has been predicted. The polarization exhibits a cusp,i.e., a discontinuous jump in the slope from negative to positive. Measurements of the longitudinal polarization for polycrystalline silicon in fields up to 0.5 T, and temperatures 53 and 200 K have been made at LAMPF. A cusp in the field dependence indeed occurs at 0.345 T, in excellent agreement with the prediction. No cusp is observed at 200 K because Mu* has been thermally ionized.  相似文献

We study theoretically the spin dynamics of antiferromagnetic molecular rings, such as the ferric wheel Fe10. For a single nuclear or impurity spin coupled to one of the electron spins of the ring, we calculate nuclear and electronic spin correlation functions and show that nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron spin resonance (ESR) techniques can be used to detect coherent tunneling of the Néel vector in these rings. The location of the NMR/ESR resonances gives the tunnel splitting and its linewidth an upper bound on the decoherence rate of the electron spin dynamics. We illustrate the experimental feasibility of our proposal with estimates for Fe10 molecules.  相似文献

Laser-Induced Fluorescence (LIF) excitation spectra in the NOA–X (0-0) band were used for temperature measurements in the postflame region of high-pressure CH4/air flames. To improve the quality of the measured spectra and to perform reliable line-shape measurements, the initial mixture was doped with approximately 400 ppm NO. At pressures up to 18 bar, excellent agreement was obtained between NO LIF temperatures and NARS/rotational Raman temperatures. Effective broadening coefficients were also determined in these flames. Problems with quantitative concentration measurements of NO and single-pulse temperature measurements at high pressures are discussed.  相似文献
