Abstract

Resonance Raman spectra induced by (CH)x films chemically or electrochemically doped with alkali metals are reported. At low doping levels, Raman bands characteristic of the trans isomer are observed. The Raman spectra can be well fitted using the theory developped by Mulazzi based on a bimo-dal distribution of long and short trans segments respectively. At the same time, typical results obtained for a cis-rich (CH)x sample, as well as its behavior during a thermal isomerization, are recalled in the frame of the Mulazzi model. When the polymer is highly doped with Li (or Na) atoms, new features at ? 1600 cm?1 and 1270 cm?1 appear and could be an indication that n-doped films are less disordered than p-doped systems.  相似文献

We present a quantum theory of frustrated diamond lattice antiferromagnets. Considering quantum fluctuations as the predominant mechanism relieving spin frustration, we find a rich phase diagram comprising of six phases with coplanar spiral ordering in addition to the Néel phase. By computing the specific heat of these ordered phases, we obtain a remarkable agreement between (k, k, 0) spiral ordering and the experimental specific heat data for the diamond lattice spinel compounds MnSc2S4, Co3O4, and CoRh2O4, i.e., specific heat data is a strong evidence for (k, k, 0) spiral ordering in all of these materials. This prediction can be tested in future neutron scattering experiments on Co3O4 and CoRh2O4, and is consistent with existing neutron scattering data on MnSc2S4. Based on this agreement, we infer a monotonically increasing relationship between frustration and the strength of quantum fluctuations.  相似文献

These studies have been carried out using a total-energy, non-orthogonal, tight-binding parametrisation which is shown to provide results in good agreement both with calculations using higher levels of theory and the available experimental data. Our results predict that of all types of nanotubes considered, carbon nanotubes have the highest Young’s modulus. We have considered tubes of different diameters, ranging from 0.5 to 2 nm, and find that in the limit of large diameters the mechanical properties of nanotubes approach those of the corresponding flat graphene-like sheets. A rapid method using capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detection (CE-LIF) was developed to determine free and protein-bound glutathione (GSH) in human HepG2 hepatocarcinoma cells. The samples were derivatized with 5-iodoacetamidofluorescein (5-IAF), and analyzed at 22 kV using sodium phosphate buffer (10mM, pH 11.4) and an uncoated 58 cm x 75 microm I.D. fused silica capillary. The analysis time was less than 10 min and N-acetylcysteine was used as internal standard. The derivatization conditions, such as reaction time, 5-IAF concentration, running buffer and cartridge temperature were optimized. Argon gas was used in the study to prevent the oxidization of GSH during sample preparation. The optimized method required only 30-40 nl sample per analysis and was fast and sensitive. The method was applied to the analyses of HepG2 cells treated with the small metal chelating agent, pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC). The results demonstrate that the amount of protein-bound GSH, which reflects the amount of protein S-glutathionylation, increased in a time-dependent manner upon cell treatment with PDTC, reaching a maximum of over 50% increase 2h post-PDTC.  相似文献

The hydrogen storage in purified single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), graphite and diamond powder was investigated at room temperature and ambient pressure. The samples were sonicated in 5 M HNO3 for various periods of time using an ultrasonic probe of the alloy Ti-6Al-4V. The goal of this treatment was to open the carbon nanotubes. The maximum value of overall hydrogen storage was found to be 1.5 wt %, as determined by thermal desorption spectroscopy. The storage capacity increases with sonication time. The sonication treatment introduces particles of the Ti alloy into the samples, as shown by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and chemical analysis. All of the hydrogen uptake can be explained by the assumption that the hydrogen is only stored in the Ti-alloy particles. The presence of Ti-alloy particles does not allow the determination of whether a small amount of hydrogen possibly is stored in the SWNTs themselves, and the fraction of nanotubes opened by the sonication treatment is unknown. In this article, we draw on research within a large project on parental involvement in mathematics education in working-class Latino communities. Our research is situated within a sociocultural framework and, in particular, the concept of funds of knowledge. We also draw on research on parental involvement in education, particularly that which critically examines issues of power and perceptions of parents. We build on the concept of dialogic learning and on the characterization of parents as intellectual resources and present a model for parental involvement in mathematics in which parents engage as (a) parents, (b) learners, (c) facilitators, and (d) leaders. In particular, in this article, we focus on the third component—parents as facilitators of mathematics workshops for the community at large—centering on some of the challenges as parents and teachers engage in this type of collaboration. We also look at the possibilities afforded by a model for parental involvement that views parents as intellectual resources. By looking at examples of interactions among parents and teachers, and among parents and children, in mathematics workshops, we challenge conventional notions about parental involvement—in particular, as they apply to working-class, language/ethnic “minority” parents.  相似文献
