Solution synthesis of gadolinium nanoparticles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Gadolinium nanoparticles have been produced at subambient temperature by alkalide reduction. The nanoparticles display maxima in the temperature dependence of their magnetization, cooled in the absence of an applied external field, at T(max) of 5.0 and 17.5 K for unheated samples and samples annealed at 1000 degrees C for 4 h, respectively. Field cooled behavior deviates at temperatures slightly above T(max), increasing at lower temperature. Curie-Weiss law fits of the high-temperature data yield magnetic moments in close agreement with those expected for noninteracting Gd(3+) ions, suggesting that the behavior seen is due to a magnetic transition rather than superparamagnetism. Magnetization is linearly dependent on field at temperatures higher than 7-8 times T(max) and shows remanence-free hysteresis at lower temperature, suggesting metamagnetism. Some annealed samples show evidence of additional ferromagnetic interactions below approximately 170 K. Magnetic entropy curves generated from magnetization data are consistent with that expected for a paramagnet.  相似文献

The aminopeptidase from Aeromonas proteolytica (AAP) was titrated with copper, which bound sequentially at two distinct sites. Both the mono- and disubstituted forms of AAP exhibited catalytic hyperactivity relative to the native dizinc enzyme. Monosubstituted AAP exhibited an axial Cu(II) EPR spectrum with slight pH dependence: at pH 6.0 g(parallel) = 2.249, g( perpendicular ) = 2.055, and A(parallel)((63/65)Cu) = 1.77 x 10(-)(2) cm(-)(1), whereas at pH 9.65 g(parallel) = 2.245, g( perpendicular ) = 2.056, and A(parallel)((63/65)Cu) = 1.77 x 10(-)(2) cm(-)(1). These data indicate oxygen and nitrogen ligation of Cu. AAP further substituted with copper exhibited a complex signal with features around g approximately 2 and 4. The features at g approximately 4 were relatively weak in the B(0) perpendicular B(1) (perpendicular) mode EPR spectrum but were intense in the B(0) parallel B(1) (parallel) mode spectrum. The g approximately 2 region of the perpendicular mode spectrum exhibited two components, one corresponding to mononuclear Cu(II) with g(parallel) = 2.218, g( perpendicular ) = 2.023, and A(parallel)((63/65)Cu) = 1.55 x 10(-)(2) cm(-)(1) and likely due to adventitious binding of Cu(II) to a site distant from the active site. Excellent simulations were obtained for the second component of the spectrum assuming that two Cu(II) ions experience dipolar coupling corresponding to an inter-copper distance of 5 A with the two Cu(II) g(z)() directions parallel to each other and at an angle of approximately 17 degrees to the inter-copper vector (H = betaB.g(CuA).S(CuA) + betaB.g(CuB).S(CuB) + [S.A.I](CuA) + [S.A.I](CuB) + [S(CuA).J.S(CuB)]; g(parallel(CuA,CuB)) = 2.218, g( perpendicular )((CuA,CuB)) = 2.060; A(parallel(CuA,CuB))((63/65)Cu) = 1.59 x 10(-)(2) cm(-)(1), J(isotropic) = 50 cm(-)(1), r(Cu)(-)(Cu) = 4.93 A, and chi = 17 degrees ). The exchange coupling between the two copper ions was found to be ferromagnetic as the signals exhibited Curie law temperature dependence. The Cu-Cu distance of approximately 5 A indicated by EPR was significantly higher than the inter-zinc distance of 3.5 A in the native enzyme, and the dicopper species therefore represents a novel dinuclear site capable of catalysis of hydrolysis. In contrast to AAP, the related methionyl aminopeptidase from Escherichia coli (EcMetAP) was found to bind only one Cu(II) ion despite possessing a dinuclear binding site motif. A further difference was the marked pH dependence of the signal in EcMetAP, suggestive of a change in ligation. The structural motifs of these two Cu(II)-substituted aminopeptidases provide important insight into the observed catalytic activity.  相似文献

The synthesis of a series of (fluoroalkyl)phosphine complexes of nickel is reported. Treatment of (cod)2Ni with dfepe (dfepe=(C2F5)2PCH2CH2P(C2F5)2) yields (dfepe)Ni(cod) (1), which has been structurally characterized. Treatment of 1 with CO or bipy results in the formation of (dfepe)Ni(CO)2 (2) and (dfepe)Ni(bipy) (3), respectively. Addition of excess dfepe to 1 results in incomplete cod displacement to form (dfepe)2Ni (4). The homoleptic complex 4 may be independently prepared in high yield by reduction of (acac)2Ni with (iBu)3Al in the presence of butadiene and excess dfepe. Solvation of (dfepe)Ni(cod) in acetonitrile gives a new complex tentatively identified as (dfepe)Ni(MeCN)2 (6), whereas dissolution of (dfepe)2Ni in acetonitrile leads to a mixture of 6 and the partial displacement product (dfepe)(η1-dfepe)Ni(MeCN) (5). In contrast to (R3P)4Ni(0) phosphine and phosphite complexes, which undergo protonation by strong anhydrous acids such as HCl, H2SO4 and CF3CO2H to give (R3P)4Ni(H)+ products, Treatment of (dfepe)2Ni with neat CF3CO2H or excess HOTf in dichloromethane gave no spectroscopic evidence for (dfepe)2Ni(H)+. Exposure for extended periods leads to dfepe loss and decomposition to Ni(II) products. The synthesis of the first cobalt complex of dfepe, (dfepe)Co(CO)2H, is also reported.  相似文献

Three syntheses of the architecturally complex, cytotoxic marine macrolide (+)-spongistatin 1 (1) are reported. Highlights of the first-generation synthesis include: use of a dithiane multicomponent linchpin coupling tactic for construction of the AB and CD spiroketals, and their union via a highly selective Evans boron-mediated aldol reaction en route to an ABCD aldehyde; introduction of the C(44)-C(51) side chain via a Lewis acid-mediated ring opening of a glucal epoxide with an allylstannane to assemble the EF subunit; and final fragment union via Wittig coupling of the ABCD and EF subunits to form the C(28)-C(29) olefin, followed by regioselective Yamaguchi macrolactonization and global deprotection. The second- and third-generation syntheses, designed with the goal of accessing 1 g of (+)-spongistatin 1 (1), maintain both the first-generation strategy for the ABCD aldehyde and final fragment union, while incorporating two more efficient approaches for construction of the EF Wittig salt. The latter combine the original chelation-controlled dithiane union of the E- and F-ring progenitors with application of a highly efficient cyanohydrin alkylation to append the F-ring side chain, in conjunction with two independent tactics to access the F-ring pyran. The first F-ring synthesis showcases a Petasis-Ferrier union/rearrangement protocol to access tetrahydropyrans, permitting the preparation of 750 mg of the EF Wittig salt, which in turn was converted to 80 mg of (+)-spongistatin 1, while the second F-ring strategy, incorporates an organocatalytic aldol reaction as the key construct, permitting completion of 1.009 g of totally synthetic (+)-spongistatin 1 (1). A brief analysis of the three syntheses alongside our earlier synthesis of (+)-spongistatin 2 is also presented.  相似文献

We present a novel conducting polypyrrole-based composite material, obtained by polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of iron(III) chloride on a cellulose substrate derived from the environmentally polluting Cladophora sp. algae. The material, which was doped with chloride ions, was molded into paper sheets and characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, N 2 gas adsorption analysis, cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry and conductivity measurements at varying relative humidities. The specific surface area of the composite was found to be 57 m (2)/g and the fibrous structure of the Cladophora cellulose remained intact even after a 50 nm thick layer of polypyrrole had been coated on the cellulose fibers. The composite could be repeatedly used for electrochemically controlled extraction and desorption of chloride and an ion exchanging capacity of 370 C per g of composite was obtained as a result of the high surface area of the cellulose substrate. The influence of the oxidation and reduction potentials on the chloride ion exchange capacity and the nucleation of delocalized positive charges, forming conductive paths in the polypyrrole film, was also investigated. The creation of conductive paths during oxidation followed an effective medium rather than a percolative behavior, indicating that some conduction paths survive the polymer reduction steps. The present high surface area material should be well-suited for use in, e.g., electrochemically controlled ion exchange or separation devices, as well as sensors based on the fact that the material is compact, light, mechanically stable, and moldable into paper sheets.  相似文献

Poly(aniline‐co‐ethyl 3‐aminobenzoate) (3EABPANI) copolymer was blended with poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and co‐electrospun into nanofibers to investigate its potential in biomedical applications. The relationship between electrospinning parameters and fiber diameter has been investigated. The mechanical and electrical properties of electrospun 3EABPANI‐PLA nanofibers were also evaluated. To assess cell morphology and biocompatibility, nanofibrous mats of pure PLA and 3EABPANI‐PLA were deposited on glass substrates and the proliferation of COS‐1 fibroblast cells on the nanofibrous polymer surfaces determined. The nanofibrous 3EABPANI‐PLA blends were easily fabricated by electrospinning and gave enhanced mammalian cell growth, antioxidant and antimicrobial capabilities, and electrical conductivity. These results suggest that 3EABPANI‐PLA nanofibrous blends might provide a novel bioactive conductive material for biomedical applications. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The increasing trend towards the use of fine oil filtration in modern jet engines suggests that the Spectrometric Oil Analysis Program (SOAP), which routinely monitors the health of aeroengines, may no longer be effective in detecting abnormal wear trends. Since the oil filter contains a wealth of information on wear in a system, it may be necessary to perform engine health monitoring through Filter Debris Analysis (FDA). In the present study, a method was developed for the determination of 19 wear elements (Ag, Al, Au, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, In, Fe, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Sb, Sn, Ti, V, W and Zn) in aircraft engine oil filter debris samples using the analytical technique of Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA). Results obtained by NAA for the analysis of two types of filter debris samples compared well with results obtained previously for similar samples and it appears that FDA should be very useful for following wear trends.  相似文献

Replacement of all phenyl groups in meso-tetraphenylporphyrin, TPP, by [2.2]paracyclophane, PCP, enhances the increase of energy of the HOMO and HOMO-1 of porphine, P, already noticed for the mono-[2.2]paracyclophanyl-substituted TPP, and fills the energy gap by the occupied MOs of the PCP units. The first oxidation half-wave potential is respectively decreased to 0.52 V. The CNDO/S-CIS calculations agree with the experimental bathochromic shifts of all bands in the electronic spectra of the considered atropoisomers of the title compound, TPCPP, as compared to TPP. In the excited B states the interactions between the PCP and porphine units are represented mainly by the charge transfer of 0.44 e from PCP to P, according to transition density matrix calculations. While electroreduction of the title compound results in a successive formation of the anion radical and dianion, oxidation represents a four-step process involving one electron transfer per step, and resulting in the oxidation of two PCP units. Formation of the conductive polymeric film on the electrode seems to be connected with the transient formation of a quinoid system of bonds.  相似文献

SpyTag is a peptide that spontaneously forms an amide bond with its protein partner SpyCatcher. SpyTag was fused at the N terminus of β‐lactamase and SpyCatcher at the C terminus so that the partners could react to lock together the termini of the enzyme. The wild‐type enzyme aggregates above 37 °C, with irreversible loss of activity. Cyclized β‐lactamase was soluble even after heating at 100 °C; after cooling, the catalytic activity was restored. SpyTag/SpyCatcher cyclization led to a much larger increase in stability than that achieved through point mutation or alternative approaches to cyclization. Cyclized dihydrofolate reductase was similarly resilient. Analyzing unfolding through calorimetry indicated that cyclization did not increase the unfolding temperature but rather facilitated refolding after thermal stress. SpyTag/SpyCatcher sandwiching represents a simple and efficient route to enzyme cyclization, with potential to greatly enhance the robustness of biocatalysts.  相似文献

Ceramide biosynthesis and its connection to iso-fatty acid metabolism in the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans was investigated using a combination of reverse genetics and comparative ESI-(+)-HR-MSe ceramide profiling along with incorporation experiments with bacterial mutants specifically enriched with isotopically labeled branched-chain amino acids or branched-chain fatty acids. Incorporation of a l -leucine-derived isovalerate unit into the conserved d17 : 1iso sphingosine building block proceeds through elo-5 dependent chain elongation and depends on peroxisomal β-oxidation by the 3-ketoacyl-CoA thiolase daf-22, although ceramide profiles of N2 wildtype and daf-22(ok693) are indistinguishable. Biosynthesis of the homologous N-iso-acyl moieties also depends on l -leucine and isovalerate chain elongation but proceeds independently of elo-5 and daf-22. Biosynthesis of the dominating N-docosanoyl moiety depends on elo-3-catalyzed chain elongation of bacteria-derived palmitic acid, whereas the N-tetracosanoyl moiety is derived from de novo lipogenesis.  相似文献
